IMO it's a fantastic show, with both slapstick and highly intelligent jokes that not everybody will get. If you haven't seen the show then you're definitely missing out on something. Yes the laugh track is a little much.. But check that on most shows today. It's a bad excuse for not understanding the genius humor in this show:D But obviously if one can't get the jokes I can see why it isn't funny!:p

It's not that we don't get the jokes. it's that they're so watered down and simply put: lame.

It's like they've got ONE running joke, it's that they're nerds.. How far can a show go with just ONE plot? Let's see the nerds interact with girls, now with themselves, now with girls again, finally let's see them interact with people they don't like. Rinse and repeat. Reminds me of the ground hog day show Everybody Loves Raymond. Every episode was identical.

Anyway, glad you like the show :)

Someone else who is a big fan of the show back me up here.

Early in the episode I saw the iMac (behind the guy in the left) in the background. I don't think I remember seeing an iMac there before. IIRC, there was a telescope there.

I thought Raj was the only one on the show who used an Apple computer.

Dang, totally missed the show last night!

Clip was funny, though!

I heard the guy who plays Sheldon talk about the show and his character on NPR last night. Quite an interesting interview, if someone wanted to dig that up.

Wow this one's polarizing. For my two cents, it's an awful, awful show. The kind of sitcom that I thought they'd stopped making years ago with stereotypical characters and predictable plotlines. When I was in Vegas I was excited to participate in a test audience...until they played the pilot of this show before it aired. Terrible I thought, this will never make it. It didn't even seem like broadcast quality production. Imagine my surprise a few months later when I started seeing commercials for it. And further surprise to see it's now one of the highest rate sitcoms. Just wow.

This is the kind of show that really kicks Arrested Development fans in the gut.

Now, I have never seen the show, and don't really have much of an interest in it. That said, I have heard it's a very funny and and it's EXTREMELY popular. So popular, in fact, that many in the industry are calling it the next Friends- a `water cooler' show that becomes can't miss TV.

For those that hate it, it's probably the multi-camera style. So many shows are single camera shows, nowadays, and use more subtle humour. They can get away with it because they don't shoot in front of a live audience. SHows like this need to have broad jokes that more people will get. A show like Modern Family is probably a much better show (I do watch that), but the humour is not broad enough to appeal to as large a crown as Big Bang Theory or even Two and a Half Men (which is bad, in my opinion, but one of the most popular shows.

My wife and I love this show!!!(She probably loves (and relates) to it a little too much. Yes, it lives on stereotypical geek jokes....and yes, it hits WAAAAYYY too close to home with me, but that is what makes it so damn funny!!!:D

I am addicted to this show. Having Woz on it makes it even greater. :D

It's one of the funniest shows on TV.

I agree with all of the above. I was surprised to see the haters. The first time I saw it, I wasn't hooked, but I always watched it because it came after 2 1/2 men and there wasn't much else on. Well by the third episode I was hooked. Didn't take long, but it took.

I must admit...

All the big bang haters on here make me dislike this website much more. But then theres also the fair share of awesome ppl. :apple:

too all those who bash, would you rather have reality tv or a sitcom that people write and put creativity in to? You may not like the show's humor, but if i'm gonna have mindless entertainment I like knowing someone put work into it.

I remember thinking the exact same thing when I watched the pilot on cable, I cant believe it has lasted this long, the show is pretty crappy

its just as bad as two and a half men

of course the general public usually appreciate incredibly predictable, simplistic and stereotypical humor, especially when they throw in an obvious pause and a laugh track after every joke or punchline so they know when to laugh

Nothing is as bad as 2 1/2 Men. Except for maybe the new sitcom with William Shatner.

Big Bang Theory is a fun show. I would have thought more geeks would appreciate it.

Sheldon is hilarious. For some reason, in this episode, he reminds me of Robojobs. Kind of funny that he should encounter Woz this way.

Wow! I can't believe that there are so many people who hate this show, posting here. I personally think that this is one of the most brilliantly funny shows in a long time. In fact, I would easily rate Big Bang Theory as one of the best sitcoms of all time (definitely in the top 5).

Everyone has their opinion. However, to like/love this show, you have to appreciate geek culture and the over-the-top characterization of it. This show is not intended to be "real." That is partly why the show is so funny....so awesome! It takes something you can relate to and carries it to the extreme! :D

I missed the Woz episode, sadly. I'l have to catch it later.

Nope, it appeared during the 16th episode of the 3rd season : The Excelsior Acquisition (I just scanned the series using the dichotomy method until I saw the iMac sitting on the desk for the first time ;) ). Before that, it was a generic flat computer screen for a generic desktop PC.

EDIT: Oh, and both Sheldon and Leonard use iPhones.

I didn't see anyone say it shouldn't exist, just that they don't like or watch it.

I see: People who like BBT = Awesome. I'll try to conform to that asap.

Personally, I don't like it, but I'm more of a Funny or Die Presents, Mr Show, Tim and Eric, Daily Show kind of guy. The only mainstream network comedy I love is Parks and Recreation. And the beyond awesome convergence of Tim and Eric and Parks & Rec via Richard Dunn's cameo almost made my brain explode. BTW Amy Poehler should have won the Emmy, not Edie Falco!

Big Bang Theory is the best comedy on TV right now! Sheldon and Raj and even Penny are the most hillarious characters. I also love Barry - the guy with the problematic 'R' pronunciation.

The posters that say this show is bad have no sense of humor and cannot appreciate extremely clever writing and the modern day celebration of geek culture. They think they're all sophisticated by laughing at Colbert. A laugh is a laugh.

BAZINGA.

BBT is an alright show, I don't watch it that often though. Thanks for posting the clip of Woz; he's a cool guy. I'm reading his autobiography right now. ^_^

Interview here.

And having spent the better part of my life at sci-fi convention mingling with nerds of all sorts and shapes, I not only find BBT very accurate in many of his characterizations and what the characters say, do and care about, but also very, very, VERY funny.

Oh...come on guys...this show has lasted solely for the female lead and nothing more...

It's like trying to prove there was anything to American Pie other than Shannon Elizabeth...

I'm a huge freaking nerd and find that this show is horrid. I can't even believe that people actually watch it, let alone like it. The characters aren't even remotely likable. Just awful.

I sincerely wish I was trolling. That show is crap.

OUR WHOLE UNIVERSE WAS IN A HOT DENSE STATE,
THEN NEARLY FOURTEEN BILLION YEARS AGO EXPANSION STARTED. WAIT...
THE EARTH BEGAN TO COOL,
THE AUTOTROPHS BEGAN TO DROOL,
NEANDERTHALS DEVELOPED TOOLS,
WE BUILT A WALL (WE BUILT THE PYRAMIDS),
MATH, SCIENCE, HISTORY, UNRAVELLING THE MYSTERIES,
THAT ALL STARTED WITH THE BIG BANG! BANG!

Sing it! You know how it goes!

OUR WHOLE UNIVERSE WAS IN A HOT DENSE STATE . . .

"Since the dawn of man" is really not that long,
As every galaxy was formed in less time than it takes to sing this song.
A fraction of a second and the elements were made.
The bipeds stood up straight,
The dinosaurs all met their fate,
They tried to leap but they were late
And they all died (they froze their asses off)
The oceans and pangea
See ya, wouldn't wanna be ya
Set in motion by the same big bang!

It all started with the big BANG!

It's expanding ever outward but one day
It will cause the stars to go the other way,
Collapsing ever inward, we won't be here, it wont be hurt
Our best and brightest figure that it'll make an even bigger bang!

Australopithecus would really have been sick of us
Debating out while here they're catching deer (we're catching viruses)
Religion or astronomy, Encarta, Deuteronomy
It all started with the big bang!

Music and mythology, Einstein and astrology
It all started with the big bang!
It all started with the big BANG!

These verses aren't as good as the first one.

I love the show.
The writing is very clever, the acting is good, it's funny. What's not to like?
Plus, I'm no geek and older than its intended audience by probably 20 years.

Two and a half men has just gotten gross. Every other 'joke' mentions a body part, a gross sexual reference or flatulence. It's funny once in a blue moon but if that's all the writers have to go with now then put the show out of its misery. I do note that I used to like it. Worst theme song of all time.

Outsourced has kept my attention. Its funny and not demeaning.

Bleep my father says seem kind of sophmoric with bad writing and hammy acting but it's good to see Will Sasso back on screen.

I'm just glad Curb Your Enthusiasm is in syndication so I can tape them all.
