I agree with several of the posters about relating to BBT scenes. The episode when they listed the stolen games my partner nearly fell off her chair with laughter.

IT Crowd is very funny, and love the fact that there is an original Mac on their spares shelf.

IMO it's a fantastic show, with both slapstick and highly intelligent jokes that not everybody will get. If you haven't seen the show then you're definitely missing out on something. Yes the laugh track is a little much.. But check that on most shows today. It's a bad excuse for not understanding the genius humor in this show:D But obviously if one can't get the jokes I can see why it isn't funny!:p

I love the Big Bang Theory. It's the first mainstream show (In the US) that i believe really celebrates geeks. Other shows have had geek characters before, but all they do is wear headgear, shout Star Wars quotes and have voice problems. They're to be laughed at rather than with. Geeks in the BBT are the protagonists, they are the people you follow.

And the writers actually take the time to get everything right. The subtle jokes, and not so subtle jokes are researched and taken seriously. And geek icons like Stan Lee, Woz of course and Wil Wheaton are celebrated on the show, not brought on to be laughed at. In fact if you've got the time, look at Wil Wheatons blog where talks about the BBT, and he does nothing but praise it. He's a big self-confessed geek himself.

The only other show i think does it better is 'The IT Crowd'. Which i believe was first, it came out a year or 2 before. The geek jokes are quite a bit more subtle in that show. I hear you're getting your own version in America soon. That should be.....awful... given past Brit remakes.

Cool! I only just started watching this after resisting up to now. I find it hilarious. Unfortunately I'm only part way through Season 1 so it will be a while until I get to the Woz episode.

While watching this embedded clip on my iPad, I experienced the first complete crash of my 64Gb 3G. Completely unresponsive, suddenly, halfway through the conversation between the "robot" and Steve Wozniak. I am restoring my iPad, after ten minutes of power-home button attempts at getting it back up and running. How completely bizarre.

The clip doesn't contain some kind of virus or Trojan horse does it? The revenge of the Woz?

...combined with excessive geek stereotypes.

I live in a house with three other Biologists and I am also a massive comics nerd. Bares literally no resemblance to BBT.

Because you have seen Sheldon in the clip which is an extreme parody of nerds, he is surreal.

I bet you never made biology talking during a meal  you know, that kind of common conversation people use to have when they go to the pub...

I see my friend everytime arguing on mechanic and physics, and I do myself talking about computing with my collegues at the restaurant(where I work).

Do you get it?

Wow. Just wow. To each their own, I guess.

Big Bang Theory is the first show that actually pegs geek culture. Everyone may call the jokes "stereotypical" but it's the first show to get them right, if not a bit over the top. Although if the jokes weren't over the top, the show wouldn't be funny.

True - and it even pegs the props - Copernicus statue, War of the Worlds, Star Wars, etc. posters. Office full of model rockets. All it needs is an emacs vs vi flamewar (vi winning, of course).

thought it was a pretty good episode. Liked how Sheldon, who never smiles. was always shown nearly giddy on the robot.

I really would love for a good psychiatrist to explain why some people are so bothered by laugh tracks... or to explain to me why I am completely oblivious to them... don't bother me in the least. Maybe I am simply so used to not laughing when other people do that I filter it out.

Thanks for reminding me of why I got rid of our TV ten years ago.

This show might have been like that two years ago, but like all Chuck Lorre sitcoms has just turned into a repetitive sequence of lame dick jokes because that's what the boring Two and Half Men audience like.

The only thing this says about Geek culture is that Chuck Lorre only knew enough about it to fill out one season. Saying Star Trek every other episode doesn't count. I guarantee if Woz hadn't been on that lame dancing show he wouldn't have been on BBT because Lorre and the audience probably have no idea who he is.

And yes, Community is way funnier and has far cleverer Geek jokes.

Bazinga! :D I love this show too! And surprisingly it doesn't lose its freshness and humor along the years. For instance yesterday's show was one of the best episodes! :)

- it is funny.

- do you know what the big-bang theory is?

- 'you're my 16th most favorite techno-geek blah blah...' That is funny. :)

But at least he's six spots above Jobs. :D

I have to explain some of the jokes (especially the comics-related ones) to my wife, but others come through loud and clear-- Howard's prurient use of the "robot arm" in a recent episode, for example.

Outsourced is also OK; I hope the writers have a chance to develop the characters into more than walking one-liners, though. With as many people as "The Office," though, that will be tough, and there's no "instant star" like Steve Carell to carry the show until then.

I'm kinda digging Mike & Molly, if only for Melissa McCarthy (she's had a couple sammiches since Gilmore Girls and looks yummy now!). Lindsay Hollister (who was Steve Carell's dance partner in Get Smart) would have been even better as Molly, but admittedly looks too young for the role. Unfortunately, I don't see the show sticking around for long.

Everybody gets the jokes but only few feel very intelligent about it.

Still watched all seasons of BBT (even though I don't know why, perhaps Sheldon, I like him as a character).

Your question was answered in less than a minute.

Take out Woz and it's a really bad '70s US sitcom.

This is what happens when evolution takes a holiday. Appropriately ironic then, given the title.

Do I need to explain that for people in Texas?

I see your sig and:

My wife and I love the Big Bang Theory as do most of my friends and coworkers.

How is this a rumor?

who said it was a rumor

might as well have said how is this a donkey

if you are referring to the site being called macrumors...

you are right

we should report macrumors.com immediately to the authoritative branch that regulates websites and ensures private citizens that website operators do not wander out of the constraints of the words within their web address

oh wait.. there is no regulation for that because it would be completely moronic to expect such a thing
