I had one but sold it and bought a 30” ACD instead. Have 3 of them now.

It’s a shame that under Tim Cook’s Apple they’ve abandoned their accessories that make the Macintosh experience unique and flawless.

I still can’t figure out why Apple would abandon the consumer WiFi market when Google and Amazon were just entering. I’m sure it’s because Tim couldn’t figure out a service to sell customers along side the AirPort products (remember every primary product apple sells has a service they can sell along with it, that’s why the iPod touch still exists and the Classic, Nano, and Shuffle were canned.. No Apple Music subscription for those iPods)

I long for a day when Apple makes a consumer monitor for under $1000 (even if it’s $999) with a stand included and brings back AirPort routers that also can act like HomeKit hub.

Actually why can Apple make a AirPort Extreme with a HomePod mini built in?

Still going strong with 5x30" ACD with my trashcan Mac Pro. I'm ready to update though as these things are like radiators and give off the heat big time. Still work and look great though.

$2-3k is still quite a lot, $999 for a 27 would be an instant buy.
I agree. We don't need a near-reference monitor with XDR and everything. Just a simple, Apple quality monitor in the 27-30" size with a quality retina resolution. It doesn't need hand-milled cooling vents in the back or anything. Though an adjustable stand would be welcome. It shouldn't need to be much more expensive than the LG 27" that they have now.

I just got a 24" M1 iMac, and I love it, but I just really wish it had target display mode, because I know the 8GB of ram is going to be a limiting factor on it's usefulness in the future.

Apple must have something up it's sleeve, it just doesn't make sense to sell the Mac mini and tell people to go buy an LG monitor.

My ideal setup would be a new 30" mini-LED monitor in a similar form factor to the iMac. Thunderbolt connections only, 120hz promotion, 100W charging + a built in FaceID setup with a center stage ultrawide camera. I'd easily pay over $1k for that.

I'm using Luna Display with 2011 iMac 27" over thunderbolt bridge and it is really solid. No idea if they support the M1 though, and I wouldn't recommend it over wifi.

All of that makes too much sense.
I’m sure if they come out with their own 27 inch 5K display it will start at $2499 or something

I pick up used 6th gen Airports whenever I see cheap ones on CL for like $40. Never break, phenomenal routers with gigabit switches. Going to be a while before 350Mbps+ isn't enough to my wireless devices.

Currently running M1 Mini connected to 20" Cinema Display that I've had since my Powermac G5 days, along with a 2011 27" iMac using a Luna display over thunderbolt. Wish the M1 had more ports, but this was the cheapest way to get me off of High Sierra and in to 2021.

One remark, most people don't realise how much an aluminium cnc milled casing costs, I can tell you that for instance the XDR casing cost a lot more than people think it costs.

I bought a refurbed one in 2012, and it still worked great when I replaced it this year. I needed something with non-proprietary inputs so I could switch between my Mini, and my work Surface.

Looking forward to a 27 or 30 inch Apple display for the normal user.

Ahhh, the 30 inch monster - true heresy. Such a nice display, the best vertical space of a 30 inch where most are just wide these days. Have one myself, however mine has been becoming unusable over the last 6 months and pushed me into finally replacing my last model cheese grater with a iMac.
I had one at work. Was truly something else in 2004. Funny thing we bought it for a PC, and had to buy an expensive Matrox Parhelia video card to drive it.

Personally, I've owned the much cheaper Dell 30" variants at home and work for 15 years.

I still use a Thunderbolt Display every day. It’s hooked up to my 2018 mini and has held up very well over the years.

Since I know Apple loves money, and they've never been one for major ergonomic adjustment options, I'd love for them to make a display that's compatible with the Pro Stand. If the display is good enough, I'd swallow the $1K cost add-on, because it'd still be way cheaper than the XDR.

At this point though I kind of feel like more than anything I want HFR.

If you want a ≥4K 120+Hz monitor with HDR, there's very few options out there, and as far as I know there's absolutely no options for a "native" retina size (you can get 27" 4K displays, not 5K.) There's tons of room for Apple to do something in the market that just isn't being done otherwise, and they've got plenty of pricing room with the ceiling they established with the Pro XDR.

If they do a new 30" I'll buy it in a heartbeat.

Nothing wrong with my current 30", but the whole ghosting thing always bugs me. It would also be nice to have some USB pass-throughs.

Yeah, the TB display... but 27", I'm not stepping down in size even a teeny bit.

I still use my 24 inch Cinema Display on my old MacBook Pro. I have thought of “upgrading” to the 27 TB version for my eventual upgrade to M1.

The 27in Thunderbolt sold for $999. I'm not optimistic that Apple will sell the same size monitor for the same price.

My guess is we'll get a 24in display for $999 (essentially an iMac display without the computer) and a 27-30in display for $1199.

My rule of thumb for predicting Apple pricing: Determine what you think is a reasonable price. Then double it. And then add $199.
