I'll often just browse the infinite pages of movie categories within the TV app. It shows me titles that are available in all of the services I am plugged into and it does show me Netflix options. It appears that the Netflix Originals just won't show up nor do Netflix titles appear in Up Next.

But that's fine for me. Having their titles appear in the category sections works perfectly fine for me.

Ahhh, I haven't noticed that. I'll have to look a like closer.

I actually didn't realize that Netflix didn't participate. I always assumed that if you're able to Siri search a movie and then hit on "Open with Netflix", that the TV app is automatically supported.

But in that case, YES Netflix SHOULD support the TV app!

Wholeheartedly agree!

Me too.
[doublepost=1512741457][/doublepost]Am I correct in thinking it replaces the Video app?

You have a "Video" app? Huh. The TV app was pretty useless at the time, but now I have Hulu, HBO Now, and Amazon Prime, I use it all the time. Or, you can use the apps themselves.

Until it has Netflix and Plex support, it’s useless to me

Blame Netflix.

Finally got it to show up on my X by manually searching the App Store for it.

So it really does just launch the relevant app to play the content. So it's just an intermediary. Hmm, not sure it's much use then.

Netflix is showing up in the TV app for me (UK) as for Plex, I wouldn’t hold your breath, we know Apple aren’t too keen on integrating apps that facilitate watching illegally obtained materials. Not that I’m saying that’s what everyone uses it for. I use it myself for all of my DVD/Blu-Ray and VHS (remember that :D) rips. But you know what Apple is like.

We’ve always known that’s what it is. It’s more of a convenience thing than anything else. Though when Apple finally get their finger out and do their own streaming service, it’ll integrate that too.

the app sucks. not useful at all.

(you have to have provider apps installed, and then all the app does is launch the provider app lol)

just more bloatware

I went to the App Store on iPhone X, searched for iMovie, then selected the developer (Apple), the TV app was at the top of the list and could be downloaded. I now have the Video app and the TV app on my phone.

Sky Go must be in that list. But I doubt Sky would go anything but instead focus on that damn NowTV.

I mean Sky Go doesn't even support AirPlay or Casting.
They don’t want you taking your phone or tablet round to your mate’s house and using Airplay to watch on the big screen.

What a rubbish user experience. My Apple TV has updated and launching the TV app freezes the device. On the iPhone I cant seem to access any local content I did before with the videos app.

It just (doesn't) work.

Netflix doesn’t show up in my TV app, should it.

I also had to download a different version of Amazon Prime Video before that showed up ‍♂️

I can find Netflix movies and tv shows with tv app

Under TV shows into does give me the Option to open better call Saul in Netflix though although Netflix is not showing under apps

I switched beta off, reset box (just resets rather than factory restore) and the TV app appeared.

The app is good but doesn't search Netflix or Now TV unfortunately.

To find this in the App Store, search for any app developed by Apple (e.g. GarageBand) - on the App Store under the name of the App it will show the developer ("Apple"). Click on Apple and it will show you all of their apps; you'll probably find "Apple TV" listed under "Latest Release".

so how I I uninstall it? It brings nothing to the party ... but has hijacked the home button. I am sure it is great for the media rich user ... but without subscriptions is is simply a poorly design intrusive pice of junk ....

Got it ... on the TV you can hide the app but it is still there (bloatware) ... it is now in the apple junk collection alongside Photos (still no family sharing) and podcasts.

To regain your home button look in settings > remote ... not settings TV app (why not both places?)

Apple's official TV app today started showing up for some fourth- and fifth-generation Apple TV owners in the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, almost a year after Apple originally announced the service in the U.S.

The TV app is billed as an easy way to watch your favorite movies and TV shows in a single place. It offers a unified experience for accessing TV shows and movies across multiple video apps, and aims to help users discover new TV and movie content by offering recommendations based on what they've previously watched. The service syncs content in the cloud so users can pick up where they left off on other devices via the accompanying iOS TV app, which has also been appearing on devices across the pond.

More than 60 services are supported by the U.S. version of the TV app, but with the expansion to new countries, Apple is adding support for additional local content, such as ITV, Channel 5, and BBC iPlayer in the U.K.

Apple's TV app has been available in the United States since December of 2016. In September, Apple released the Apple TV app in Canada and Australia, and announced that it would be bringing the app to France, Germany, Sweden, Norway, and the U.K. by the end of the year.

It’s showing on my iPhone but not iPad. I follow your link and it says, ‘This app requires specific features not on this device’ and the download option is greyed out. Frustrating.

EDIT: Fixed it. I had previously tried restarting my iPad as somebody had said earlier in the thread. That didn’t work. I had some films downloaded on my iPad and just guessed they might have something to do with the problem. I deleted all the videos, restarted my pad and the TV app immediately downloaded automatically.
