Seems it only supports iPlayer that I would use.

No Netflix, NowTV or All4, the three services I use the most. Amazon is probably good but I don’t use it.

A small handful of people might use ITV or My5.

I give it 2 stars out of 10 on launch, but frankly I wouldn’t have bothered releasing it. The lack of major streaming service support means I won’t use it. I highly doubt I’m alone in this.

[doublepost=1512768009][/doublepost]UK App Store Link:
Apple TV by Apple https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/apple-tv/id1174078549?mt=8

I deleted the Videos app and then searched on all Apple apps on the store and the Tv.app appeared!

Followed the link and was able to download on my iPhone.
Old Videos app was still present, which surprised me as I thought it would be deleted/replaced.
At this point, had a look at the TV app, tapped the bottom tab Library, and on the top had 3 options: TV Programmes, Films and Home Videos.
Home Videos was the one I was happy with, because reading previous US experiences with the new TV app, Home Videos weren’t accessible.
After seeing this, deleted the old Videos app, and when returning to the TV app the Home Videos option simply disappeared!!
Force closed the app, restarted the iPhone, and it’s still nowhere to be found...
Anyone else experiencing this?

Same here... but search will not find all the Netflix stuff available and Netflix is almost not present in the main screen (shows, movies etc...)

Prime definitely takes prescience in the home menu but Netflix content displays for me in search and up next etc.

I had videos loaded which I had set as media type=TV Programme in iTunes on Mac.

In the TV app, when in the Library view, these don’t appear under the regular ‘TV Programmes’ from the top left ‘Library’ menu dropdown option since these were not purchased. However, under ‘Downloded’ in the Library dropdown I do see my manually synced videos.

If you don’t see your Home Videos there, try to re-set the media type and re-sync? Assuming you synced from iTunes.

Apple's official TV app today started showing up for some fourth- and fifth-generation Apple TV owners in the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, almost a year after Apple originally announced the service in the U.S.

apple-tv-app.jpg

The TV app is billed as an easy way to watch your favorite movies and TV shows in a single place. It offers a unified experience for accessing TV shows and movies across multiple video apps, and aims to help users discover new TV and movie content by offering recommendations based on what they've previously watched. The service syncs content in the cloud so users can pick up where they left off on other devices via the accompanying iOS TV app, which has also been appearing on devices across the pond.

More than 60 services are supported by the U.S. version of the TV app, but with the expansion to new countries, Apple is adding support for additional local content, such as ITV, Channel 5, and BBC iPlayer in the U.K.

Apple's TV app has been available in the United States since December of 2016. In September, Apple released the Apple TV app in Canada and Australia, and announced that it would be bringing the app to France, Germany, Sweden, Norway, and the U.K. by the end of the year.

Given how bad Hulu's new UI is I totally rely on the TV app. Its such a great tool for finding and keeping up to date with shows I'm watching. Its just a real shame that Netflix won't participate. I reckon we should put together a petition and send it to Netflix lol
I agree. Netflix is on the US TVApp though I believe and was advertised as being on the UK one on the Apple UK website until a week ago so assume it is just a matter of time.

Replaced the Video app on my iPhone here in the UK. Not seeing anything other than BBC, ITV & my5 currently.
Is integration with Netflix, Prime Video etc only available through the tv app or should it be on iPhone too?
Netflix not supported, but I assume it will be since Apple advertised that it would be until a week ago. Same with Now TV.

I kinda hope they release the app for Mac, to keep it all uniform. When I watch prime content on my Mac, it doesn’t update the TV App. I watch from my Mac in bed and ATV in the living room.

I’ll give that a try, thanks!

Found this on Apple’s site might help with what is officially supported.

Great link.

Netflix isn’t listed in the US so I doubt it’s coming to the UK anytime soon.

Netflix seems to be partially supported only - shows that are on other services as well as Netflix (most non-original content is on iTunes for example) seem to show and there’d be option to play from Netflix.

However netflix isn’t given its own row in the app to highlight key shows.

KrisLord is right.

Everything listed on other services will be found by a search on Netflix too...

Under TV shows into does give me the Option to open better call Saul in Netflix though although Netflix is not showing under apps

Netflix is searchable within TV app and via Siri but content won’t appear in the Watch Now / Up Next sections which is a shame.

Given Sky own NowTV you'd think they would be working toward some sort of subscriber access - which would also replace their pitiful attempt at iOS apps!

Sky are meant to be launching Sky Q over broadband next year (no dish required). It wouldn’t surprise me if Sky launched a premium service via Apple TV but left Now TV as a basic service (accessible on Apple TV but not fully integrated in to TV app). That said, I think I saw something about a new Now TV app next month but that might just be the next release of a minor update.

I’ve found the apps on Apple TV to be below standard of the equivalents on other devices. Now TV doesn’t even remember what you’ve watched and BBC iPlayer app is rubbish compared to other devices. It looks like the TV app may be fixing some of the issues. Would be good to have more content options including All4, Sky, Now TV, UKTV and Netflix (fully integrated).

Guys? I`ve got an X here, where the TV-App appeared after a reboot. iPad 4 logged in to the same account: TV App is nowhere to be found, not on the device not on the Store. Same situation on a iP6, got it and an iPhone 5 uses the same account as iPhone 6 but nothing so far.. Any ideas? Thanks!

I went to the App Store on iPhone X, searched for iMovie, then selected the developer (Apple), the TV app was at the top of the list and could be downloaded. I now have the Video app and the TV app on my phone.

Just followed your exact process and still can’t find :(
[doublepost=1512847867][/doublepost]
To find this in the App Store, search for any app developed by Apple (e.g. GarageBand) - on the App Store under the name of the App it will show the developer ("Apple"). Click on Apple and it will show you all of their apps; you'll probably find "Apple TV" listed under "Latest Release".

Nope. Doesn’t show it for me.

It’s showing on my iPhone but not iPad. I follow your link and it says, ‘This app requires specific features not on this device’ and the download option is greyed out. Frustrating.

EDIT: Fixed it. I had previously tried restarting my iPad as somebody had said earlier in the thread. That didn’t work. I had some films downloaded on my iPad and just guessed they might have something to do with the problem. I deleted all the videos, restarted my pad and the TV app immediately downloaded automatically.
Not working for me.
[doublepost=1512849984][/doublepost]Sorted! Didn’t have latest iOS (although I had no indication of this)! ‍♂️

And the screenshot for article is from USA...hehh...there is no HBO in UK at All.
It's Sky Atlantic thanks to deal of HBO and Murdoch.

needs a lot of work. A LOT. i kind of get Netflix not waiting to play nice with the whole TV app cause they count on folks random searching to find new things but the channel apps really could use a single interface and the TV app could do that. but for it to work they need to all support single sign in and the whole deep searching business.

and it would also really help the tv app if it included all shows and movies even if they aren't available to buy or stream yet. with way better metadata (something I've been wanting to see in the iTunes stores for ages). and let us favorite titles or even actors/directors/writers and alert us when something is available. otherwise there's little point to even using the app

How do I block all the crap from ITV and Channel 5 appearing when I start the app. I can’t stand their crap and don’t want to see it. Ever. Oh and “What to Watch” just seems like an endless stream of complete dross. How do I hide block or control this???? My IQ is at least in double figures, this app seems to assume the user is a complete moron and only interested in the worst content, worst TV shows available

UK version -

The good - Amazon Prime, BBC iPlayer, ITV, Channel 5.

The bad - No Netflix, Channel 4. Can't filter out things I have to pay for (eg iTunes).

I laughed, the programs that ITV and Channel 5 are pushing were soul destroying just seeing them on my iPhone screen!

I´ve got a Link from the German Store. I´ll try it later, on the iPhone 5 and iPad 4. iOS 10.2 is needed so it should work on those older devices.

If I check the info with my iP X, it says 10.2. If I open the link with my iPad 4, it says 11.2. Update to 11.2 or you can´t use it.

Channel 5 and ITV streaming not best quality but so much better than bbc iPlayer cos have subtitles means I can finally use it!

I use bbc iPlayer most so I really want them add subtitles and they still refuse do it so far.
