This would require redirecting dozens, if not hundreds of phone numbers with numerous carriers. That's incredibly unlikely to be what happened here.

Chances are they all use a 3rd party tool like Hootsuite and someone compromised Hootsuite and then has API access to any account connected to it, or they compromised Twitter directly.
It's almost completely likely at this point it's directly related to Twitter's security.

I'm just happy (??) that these people didn't have much worse intentions with this hack. This could have gotten bad, fast.

I know it sounded better in your head but wondering how those technologies were ever a thing is like people driving in cars wondering how horses were ever a thing.

why is that ridiculous ? Riding on a horse is not an efficient way to get around unless you have a big plot of land and it would be absurd to look backwards. Especially when cars used to be needlessly massive and heavy as sedans with huge tail fins. Looking back one would wonder how that was a thing.
I don’t understand what you’re saying but hey if Twitter is the epitome of American ingenuity and like driving from a to b for you, fine

Not surprising. It seems like most things can be hacked if someone tries hard enough.

Got to love the "Only going on for the next 30 minutes". It's like the hacker could already hear the sirens before they posted it. 🚔

True in Detail, but the underlying premise is correct. Question is would people jump to a new platform?
And would a new platform be allowed to be established or would activists come up with a number of real or imagined reasons to campaign against potential advertisers on a new platform? Cancel culture is a tad out of control at the movement.

iOS 14 should ask for IQ test first boot and if below 80 the phone will not boot up and only displaying iq increase lessons!!!

iPhone IQ Pro.

Using that phone in public will show how smart you are...

It's not just Apple. A TON of verified accounts have been hacked, including Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffett, Barack Obama, Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Uber, Cash App, and more. This is a major security breach for Twitter as a whole, not just for Apple's Twitter account.

Twitter is feeling like BlockBuster: the writing is on the wall, ripe for any competent competition to come in and swoop them up.

Will make you wonder how they were ever a thing, like dial-up AOL or Netscape or instant messenger or dumb phones and pagers

It's pretty obvious (especially at the time when they were state of the art) how Blockbuster, AOL, Netscape, IM, dumb phones, and pagers were a thing.

Looks like they got the Washington Post website too. There's a crazy article there about how Tim Cook worked with the Trump administration to encourage the unemployed to "Find Something New"!

Normally I would ask if you bothered reading the article, but it's clear you didn't even read the entire headline.

And if that wasn't bad enough, other people liked your post.

Agreed, however, the one account that liked the post ... not surprised that they liked the post. Lol.
