It's irrelevant exactly how you said it. The way you said it implies that only an Apple logo could cause a lack of objectivity and only Apple fanboys are like that.

Don't forget his additional implication that each and every single person who ever bought an Apple product has no objectivity whatsoever!

What he actually said is irrelevant!

And I asked you why you didn't say the same for android users? The point I'm making is that both sides lose objectivity and often, you're proof of that since you're only acknowledging one side as being the ones who do that. But I can see that you have no intention of answering that question so let's leave it at that, aiden.

Quite frankly - he's not obligated to. Why single Aiden out when so many posters in this forum never mention the other side when making such comments. And usually they argument is "well this is an Apple forum." So Aiden was speaking of some Apple users. That doesn't mean he has to qualify his statement to include others. Why hold him more accountable than others?

p.s. I disagree (and you even agreed earlier) that marketshare is completely meaningless.

I have stated in my posts several times that there are unreasonable people on both sides.

And as for marketshare that is your opinion and I respect it. To me it is completely useless, even if apple were to regain it because what benefit has it provided android other than just a hollow boast?

The only company that is benefiting from android is samsung and that's not because of marketshare it's because they make good phones.

1. I'm not talking about you. You are holding Aiden up to some higher standard than most posters here. And we've seen how you post. Yes - sometimes you do state it comes from both sides. But then you always just squeak in a comment implying it's more the android fans that are more "fanatical" or whatever adjective you want to use.

2. Let me refresh your memory. I explained that marketshare isn't completely meaningless. You then agreed. https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/17218900/

Your reply was "yep"

Marketshare isn't everything. It might not even be uber important. But it's not meaningless as you stated earlier and which I responded to.

My "yep" was in response to your "pissing contest of ridiculousness" comment. That's all marketshare is. It's a pissing contest. It is now and it will be if apple takes over again too.

AAPL was severely undervalued at $700. Wall Street is crazy.

I wouldn't agree with the former, but certainly with the latter :D

In the end, when you trade shares it doesn't matter whether a stock is overvalued or undervalued, what matters is whether it goes up and down. That is, that's what matters to the trader. The company itself is (usually) not affected by the share price at all (there are exceptions when a company wants to issue shares to get more capital).

Did..... I just read a Samsung ad?

No way. Samsung would never, ever stoop that low to pay people to make posts like that. And even if they do and get caught, it is totally against their company principles and will be stopped immediately.

It's not doomed but this chart does not tell much one way or another. US is a relatively small piece of the global smart phone market and Apple was much less successful in other parts of the World.

I did not say Apple was doomed, I was just sarcastically quoting those who use the recent fall in stock value as a sign of Apples demise.

It seems I did not write my message out right.

----------

the problem is, just yesterday I read this here:

http://news.yahoo.com/apple-bleeding-market-share-133002948.html

So who am I supposed to believe? I'm guessing Apple fanbois will believe anything that tells them the marketshare is up. Android fanbois will believe anything telling them the iOS marketshare is down.

Macrumors doesn't report in a balanced way, of course - they chose to ignore yesterday's article and only pushed the positive one.

In the end, it doesn't matter what exactly we believe - what matters is what the analysts and the stock brokers believe. And that's apparently that Apple is indeed bleeding marketshare.

I venture a combination of how a relativly small company (compared to Mobile and Microshaft) has more market value then the mentioned 2?

Its a strange world.

The irony of your 'quip' is that Appe haven't brought any true phone developments to the public since they took the beautiful iPhone 3 and bastardised all it's style to create the iPhone 4. Meanwhile, it's competitors have excelled!

This is the first I've heard anyone, ever, claim the plastic 3GS as better in "style" than an iPhone 4.

Held the Galaxy S4 next to my girlfriends iPhone 5 today ... she felt as sick as a pig when she felt the sleek lines of the
S4 compared to the 5

LOL! Yeah that phone that S4 that's getting ripped on all over the place for it's chinzy plastic casing sure is better than the aluminum unibody of an iPhone 5.

Here's the relevant portion from The Verge about the exterior design of the S4:

I don't like holding this phone, and I can't overstate how much that informs the experience of using it. It makes an awful first impression, slippery and slimy and simply unpleasant in your hand. My white review unit is completely smooth and glossy, with a subtle checkered pattern that looks textured but is neither grippy nor textured anywhere on its body. Even the silver band around the sides, which is obviously supposed to look like metal, is plastic. Everyone I showed the GS4 to frowned and wrinkled their nose as if it smelled bad, before rubbing their fingers on the back of the phone and then handing it back to me — that's the opposite of the standard reaction to HTC’s One, which everyone wants to ogle and hold. That's going to be a huge problem for Samsung, because the GS4 and One are likely to be next to each other on store shelves, and at least on first impression there's absolutely no contest between the two.

That sure sounds great!

----------

I don't care if Samsung copied Apple (like apple never copied anyone themselves!!) or any other negative statements about my phones better than yours ... Just go hold the new S4 next to an iPhone 5 as I did today and it'll become QUITE clear why so many people are abandoning Apple products. They may have been the market leader a few years ago, but others have not only now caught up, but they've significantly passed Apple in the desirability stakes! That GORGEOUS S4 screen, smooth rounded lines, high technology, NFC, SD Card slot, wireless charging ... I could go on but I fear I may just have to buy one tomorrow!

How's the weather in South Korea today?

Wouldnt know about Korea, I live in the UK!

As for the S3 (or 4) versus the iPhone, gee, I must have been wrong, I must have been mistaken when I thought I preferred the feel of the Samsung to my old iPhone 4 and 5! I must also be the only person with that opinion and I guess the fact the samsung 4 without compromise beats the 5 in every way means nothing as its case is plastic. In fact, yes, my opinion is all wrong and no doubt I'll read soon about how all those millions of Samsung phones have been returned because the cases have broken.

What sound does a sheep make (please remind me in case I've got that wrong too!)

I dunno if Apple's made my life better exactly. The iPhone and iPad are neat devices, sure. I'm a little more connected to the internet these days. I certainly don't have to carry around quite as much stuff...

But is my life better because of it? I dunno.
That is you and your case. Millions will argue otherwise. For instance families who can easily video chat across continents through the internet without having to buy phone cards or being locked to their computer desks, individuals able to manage their finances on the go with ease, the ability to express oneself through social networking and photography, among many others.

And for me personally the ability to study with greater efficiency because of the iPad's unparalleled note taking abilities. Cannot imagine life without it.

Yes Apple has made my and many others lives much better.

Don't know - how is it in China where your phone comes from?

You must be lacking imagination then. I studied back in the late nineties / early naughtiest and had to rely on my hands' really sophisticated note taking abilities. I then completed a post-grad last year for which I used the iPad. Was I more efficient with the iPad? Heck no. If anything, I was massively more distracted.

Also, unparalleled? You sure? I suggest you take a look at the Galaxy Note series. I use one of those now and find that its note taking abilities are far superior.
