I am not buying two brand new and friggen expensive monitors just to have dual monitors on my MBP. I want to be able to use the two I already have. I hope this comes true.

So I'm guessing white MacBooks are getting killed. Good, to hell with those overpriced underpowered pieces of crap.

Lion wallpaper

Thank God they're ditching that old galaxy wallpaper with all that lavender. Not only ugly, it threw off your eye's color sense.

I agree about the wallpaper as well. Also, I was kind of hoping for a white Macbook refresh soon. I really don't need the power (and price) of a pro for a secondary computer, but wanted something with a little more expandability than the Airs. If the MB is dead, I guess I'll go with the Maxed 13" Air.

If it is dropped, I would go with the MBP. Just not sure which one?

You can use a Cinema Display with a Thunderbolt port equipped computer—as long as the display has the MiniDisplay connector. You cannot use a Thunderbolt connector display with a MiniDisplay Port equipped computer. i.e. A new MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt can run a three year old Cinema Display that only has the MiniDisplay connectors, but a 2009 MacBook Pro with MiniDisplay port will not work with the new Thunderbolt display or iMac

You can already do that with one of these:

I'm hoping eventually someone will come out with a similar product that runs on Thunderbolt. Heck it could even be cheaper since it wouldn't need a very cheap video chip running in it, it would just need to break out a display port and daisy chain the thunderbolt.

In theory, this could reduce the number of connectors coming from the display from 4 to 3 (thunderbolt, power in, magsafe out). Less wires and plugs make me a very happy person.

Interesting how they're showing a specialized version of the Mac Mini (the server config). Unless of course the optical drive is now gone from the Mini. I could see that, maybe...

OK so the Macbook Pro and Mac Pro are comparable to each other. The Macbook and iMac were more so. Now we have the Macbook Air that is driveless and the Mac mini that in this pic is driveless. I know about the server version currently but it's hardly ever used in promo pics. I'm thinking the Mac mini line is going down to one form without a drive. You can buy the external super drive if you like. Can I get an Amen! :)

Is it likely we'll see a price drop in refurbished MiniDisplay port Cinema Displays when the new Thunderbolt Cinema Display comes out? If so, by how much? 15%?

Could this imply that if you order a machine today then by the time it has been shipped to you you will discover Lion installed? Otherwise these pictures could conceivably be deemed misleading.

I was just about to post the exact same thing!

Apple: this is a health and productivity issue. Please, include matte displays, at least as an option.

I just bought a 27" imac. I'd have to give a display an "8" or "9" at most. It's really to bad the screen under the glass is very good but the glass cover is just plain silly. Why is there no anti-reflection coating on it? My eyeglases have a coating, my TV set screen does. Is Applejust trying to save a buck?

Look at the picture of this glossy screen iMac. It's Apple's marketing photo. Notice that there is glare so strong that the black border appears grey where the light is reflecting. At least Apple is being truthful in their advertising.

MBP with two display!! Yes!!

Can you still "Maximize" any app like you currently can, and choose not to use Lion's full Screen mode if I did want an application on each monitor? Or are apps coded to use the new full screen mode not able to be adjusted manually?

You can still maximize them but that means you still have the title bar, Dock (unless you hide it, and apps that have full screen mode but not using the Lion API will still work (I'm hoping Virtual Machine and remote desktop applications) but once they are "updated" for Lion they work in the new way.

The MacRumors article says these monitors couldn't be daisychained to an iMac. Why not?

The images exist on Apple's website, but no pages link to them. Apparently, some people who know the layout of their website very well found the URL of the images directly and uploaded them to Macrumors.

Thanks for the response. I'm fine with that. I actually like the full screen idea if I was working on a notebook. I don't mind features being added (even half-@ssed ones) as long as the old way isn't broken.

Sold my two year old cinema display a week or two ago and got back 80% of what I paid for it. Bought a 23" Dell IPS and the best part about it is that I'm no longer confined to a single connector that isn't used by the majority of hardware manufacturers.

Put the other £300 I got from the sale towards an iPad.

Oh, and I LOVE having a matte display again :D

yeah they are fantastic - I did a job at a studio with a U2711 and it was amazing to work on.
