update 2 must mean new imacs are those part numbers thought to be macbook airs lol that will be the rumour next week when nothing arrives

Can anyone make any size determinations based on the pictures if the new Cinema display is still 27" or if it is bumped up to 30" to replace the old 30" display?

Wonder if the 2011 MBP GPU is powerful enough and designed to power 2 27" displays.

"This feature would only be compatible with 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pros of the current generation supporting Thunderbolt."

Why not on also the 13 inch MacBook Pro?

Several of these images are identical to the old monitor images on Apple's site, except for the Lion background. Cords, lighting, shadows and so on are EXACTLY the same - almost as if they had been photoshopped. Does Apple photoshop new screen images on existing hardware when a new OS comes out?
That's probably because the promotional pictures that Apple uses are renders of the products, not actual photos.

So they just load up the 3d model, change the screen image, and re-render. Of course the shadows and cords will look the same.

I'm guessing the integrated HD3000 in the 13 can't drive 2 additional displays (at least at 2560x1440)

They are hidden:

Btw, you can make those images larger. Just change it to wid=2000 (and remove hei=326).

You can use a Cinema Display with a Thunderbolt port equipped computer—as long as the display has the MiniDisplay connector. You cannot use a Thunderbolt connector display with a MiniDisplay Port equipped computer. i.e. A new MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt can run a three year old Cinema Display that only has the MiniDisplay connectors, but a 2009 MacBook Pro with MiniDisplay port will not work with the new Thunderbolt display or iMac

Can you please source this? Not discounting what you have to say, but I'm interested to see official news on this.

Why? It's not as if you are going to be gaming on both displays at once.

I'm sure it'll bog down regardless of what I'm doing especially
if I'm running a combo of two Adobe CS programs, which is nearly every time i'm on my computer.

Telling the 6750M to drive two monitors where one is 2560x1440 is already asking for trouble

How much work do you think a graphics card is asked to do to drive a windows based desktop? Refrshing windows and displaying them is not the same as throwing polygons around and redrawing textures at xx frames per second. Your graphics card does not even need to break a sweat to redraw your desktop.

Awesome now I can use my mbp with a dual monitor setup. Just in time for Lion and full screen apps! :p

Simple question, can someone answer me on this with the best of their knowledge or opinion:

I have a 27" Apple Display (minidisplay port) and a new macbook pro with thunderbolt. I want to run dual external display when possible.

1. Can I buy ONE of the new 27" displays (thunderbolt) and daisy chain it with my current display (minidisplay port)?

2. OR, do I have to buy TWO of the new 27" displays (thunderbolt)?

Thanks guys!

Well spotted. Having blown up the Mac Pro picture, it seems that it still only has Firewire and USB on the front port panel. So i'm guessing it's not a picture of a new model. I imagine they would put a Thunderbolt port on the front panel of any new machine.

That is weird, why would apple only update imac photos?
I mean that is so unlike them...

You SHOULD be able to buy 1 new one and have it b4 your current one, which will need to be at the end of the chain since it's mDP only. But, we won't know for sure until these are out.

In theory, you'll be fine if you have the second (MDP) display hooked up at the end of the chain

Looks like all of the Back to School promo is being updated...possible release today?

3D FaceTime!

They will include FaceTime cameras in the LED displays too so if you hook them up via Thunderbolt you will get 3D FaceTime.
