A remix of Ping - So far I'm not seeing how this is going to be something I want to use.

Apple's naming scheme is becoming a but boring. Apple pay. Apple music. They sounds like Microsoft. What happened to cool spin offs like safari, time machine apature in comparison to 'internet explorer' 'windows back up and restore centre.

You wont be able to use it. Artists will.

I'm going to make it my only mission to stop this misinformation that this is somehow a social network for iTunes. It's not.

The moment that Apple reveals it's new commitment to Ping 2.0, you will be able to hear celebratory champagne corks pop at the offices of Spotify, Rdio, and Google.

Apple, what are you thinking, Ping failed and failed spectacularly. Please let this one die with the rumor.

Not Ping

From the description it sounds as though this is not a social network, more of an integration of Soundcloud type features. Artists will be able to post unreleased remixes, samples, etc. as they do on Soundcloud, but integrated in apple music. Seems like a great idea to me.

I just hope they don't get rid of iTunes Match with this new upcoming music subscription on the way. I have tons of music stored in the Match service.

I overloaded my Music Match account, and so I dropped it.
I need to find a solution to get all my music on my iPad. I hope this does the trick.

Or at least increase the cap limit. 25,000 isn't enough.

It's starting to sound like what they're building is way more than Paid Spotify + curated playlists.

----------

PING IS BACK! Instead making iTunes into streaming service they had to waste their money on Beats and still can not make it part of iTunes Match and now they resurrecting PING.

Someone hurry up and clone Steve Jobs.

You are aware Ping was announced while Steve Jobs was CEO?

You're also overreacting. Artist information page within iTunes / Beats Music does not equal Ping 2.0.

I don't see how Apple can compete with the free tiered music streaming services like Spotify & Pandora. $9.99 a month is more than Netflix.

Whatever happened to the half-price goal Apple had for the premium streaming service? I guess those deals never panned out. Oh well. Definitely not worth $10 per month.

all-gold Apple Watch wearer Kanye West

What the ??? You are no longer a person in Apples eyes. You are just the biomass attached to their watches.

I'm just shaking my head here.

Sincerely,
no-Apple-Watch wearing poster.

So, does this mean the ad-free iTunes Radio that comes with iTunes Match is going away? That sucks.

I refuse to pay for music stream services. I use iTunes Radio (rarely) because it comes with iTunes Match and I use the free version of Spotify on my PS4.

I wish they'd concentrate on uping the song limit for Match, otherwise I'll have to stop using that service soon since I'm almost at the limit. At least Google Play offers double Match's limit and for free so, I have options if Apple never increases the song limit.

You're obviously comparing apples to oranges. Instead of comparing itunes to the unpaid spotify service you should compared it to the paid premium service - and this one is great.

btw are you aware of all the paid services? I'm pretty sure that qualifies as competition  Spotify is currently the best in the market and that is why they are successful and the others are not. You should really try to look beyond your blatant Apple bias - it could really make your life easier;)

Spotify has a free version, which is a major reason why they have the most users. I have tried them all and prefer the many features of Rdio (artist radio slider, continuous play, play music based on music labels, works with my car's Bluetooth navigation while Spotify doesn't, etc. I also prefer Rdio's interface of the dark Spotify interface. Rdio did kill themselves for a long time by not offering 320k, but they have fixed that issue, as well.

I would consider switching to Apple's service if it added complete Siri integration into the service. It would be awesome to tell it to play an artist and album and it started to play without needing to do anything else. I would also love to see a return of the MOG features that Beats killed off.

Rdio is launching a 3.99 service that allows the radio features and 25 songs to played from any album's, commercial free, on a daily basis. I doubt I would want to deal with that limitation, but it might be useful for most people. Rdio says most of their clients fall into that range.

I just continue to buy albums from artists that I like and stick it on my old fatboy iPod that plays through my head unit. I don't stream music. I don't like how they play songs based upon what I am listening to. If I say play Metallica songs, just play them, not other bands related to their genre on top of what I requested. I also don't want to have to create playlists. I'll switch over to another band/singer when I'm ready. I could be in a metal mood one minute and then Dave Matthews the next.

I've got about 12k of music. Don't think I'll reach the 25k limit soon. You could always try having a selection of music in Google Play Music & iTunes Match.

I just like the ability of using Siri to find an artist or album to listen to when my hands are tied.

Likened to Apple's now-defunct Ping social networking system that let users follow artists and friends to see posts and music recommendations, Apple's new music service is said to let artists have landing pages within the music service to share "track samples, photos, videos, and concert updates."

So... The worst of Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace all rolled into one?

Would you rather hear iWatch, iPay, iBeats or iMusic?

This is not Apple's demographic though.

I'm not sure you understood my point. He was complaining about ads, which is only something you get from using the free tier in Spotify. Using Premium won't result in any ads. This has nothing to do with Apple.
