Instead of people saying "watch this; it recreates the magic of the original" how about they say "watch the film that came out 38 years ago; it's still a classic and doesn't need "re-imagining"".
Exactly. This is how you end up with disrespectful train wrecks like Star Trek: Discovery. Or the all female ghostbusters. Or that Ben Hur embarrassment a couple of years ago. Terminator three and four. Die Hard three and four. Highland 2 and 3. Cars 2 and 3. Really it’s a long, long list of travesties.

The corporatist mindset always seeks to reduce risk. Remakes are perceived as less risky. Just look at the gentle people on this thread hoping and praying it will be just as good as the original Time Bandits. The corporatists love these people.

If you really want original stories though, we have got to start saying no to non original content. Like this one.

I personally would like a one season series of the Legacy of Hearot by Larry Niven and Tony Barnes. Sf colonisation story with a monster with links to old English legends. A serial story would be awesome and lends itself to the streaming format

I was not interested in Star Trek Discovery at all at first, it looked like too much of a stylistic departure, but it quickly grew on me. It's not perfect, but it's better than Star Trek Enterprise, and certainly better than Voyager. Loved the new Ghostbusters, btw.

My own opinion.. There is only one person on earth that could make the Time Bandits and only one point in time when it could be made. He already gone dun it, dun it perfectly.
There is plenty of trash that needs to be re-worked. Isn't that what Apple does best?

Taika Waititi, a promising director. His work on "What We Do in the Shadows" was really well done. I can't wait for his take on Time Bandits.
His work on Thor Ragnorak was aweome as well. So many underrated one liners from that one. The hunt for the Wilder People was a great movie as well. I will definitely watch this only to see how he put his mark on this classic.

According to collider he's only co-writing and directing the pilot episode and just an EP after that.
Sooo... meh?

Funniest thing I have heard all day. Certainly funnier than that Ghostbusters remake sacrilege.

Time Bandits movie is an often-overlooked gem. Love it.

Millennials: Time what movie? Is it on Grindr?

Lol. I know exactly what you mean but do you know what Grindr is? I'm thinking you don't or you may have chosen another example. :D

Sick of seeing mediocre remakes of really good original movies. Hire a writer and do something creative.

Apple the movie studio … didn't they once make computers?
How original. And over a decade behind their little phone business.

Since this is a media event, a little salient fact the majority of posters here have missed in their stated wishes for hardware, I cannot wait for the bib-dribbling and spoon-clanging when new computers aren't part of the mix.

Yeah, how dare they try to make a series out of a film! I mean, why not do great series like in the golden ages of TV. Shows like Dr. Kildare,Flipper,,M*A*S*H,Topper.... oh..wait

For example, I have a hard time seeing today's uber-PC Apple letting a cast of dwarves beat the crap out of and berate each other, which is, of course, hilarious to watch in the movie.

Time Bandits is such a classic sci-fy fantasy film. Best ending...ever. “Mom! Dad! Don’t touch it, it’s concentrated Evil!!” POOF! Lol.

It's a great movie, but I'm skeptical they'll be able to capture the same "magic" the original movie had.

Maybe it'll be clever and quirky and whimsical in its own way, but so many times when studios try to recreate the unintentional/unexpected successful formula of a cult hit/classic, they inevitably screw it up.

I loved this movie as a kid. Wasn’t this one with the weird ending with the parents though? Cause if it is, i both loved that movie. Amd it scarred me as a kid. Lol
