Apple today redesigned its website on both desktop and mobile devices. The changes make it easier to find individual product pages and other helpful links.

Apple-Website-Drop-Down-Menus.jpg

On the desktop, there are new drop-down menus that appear when you hover over the categories in the top menu bar, including Store, Mac, iPad, iPhone, Watch, AirPods, TV & Home, Entertainment, Accessories, Support, Search, and Bag. The new Entertainment category replaces "Only on Apple" and continues to highlight Apple's services.

On mobile devices, an all-in-one drop-down menu is now located on the right side of the top menu bar. When you tap on a category in the menu, a submenu opens with individual product pages and other helpful links, similar to the desktop experience.

All in all, these changes make navigating Apple's website more convenient and surface helpful resources that some customers might not have been aware of.

Nice improvements to Apple web site today. Now Apple’s top menu bar, you’ll see new dropdown menus with quick links to more details on that category of products. Easier to browse for what you want. Below is what you first see on screen 1 and if you move the mouse over Mac you see screen 2.

While I already miss the icons of the previous design, this is considerably easier to navigate.

I use the Apple Store app much more often than the website, but for those rare instances it should be easier to find what I’m looking for given the redesign.

Interesting. For a second I was puzzled because hover states don’t meet accessibility guidelines - until I started navigating using Tab and then you’ll notice a hidden caret option that invokes the drop-down menu.

🥰 Pleasing to the eye. Never fails to impress. I miss the old Apple website in 2008. Simpler times!

Hear hear. I'm tired of the borderless dark mode fad. Worst interface fad since flat design. Everything blends together and requires minute additional thought/processing than before, which gets tiring after a while.

I'll never understand why it's a apparently an embarrassment to show a little additional detail to help differentiate actionable items vs. info items vs. background.

Website redesign… what about a new iOS beta or release?

Curious, what specifially needs fixed? What's broken?

We should never want an interface redesign unless it's focused on fixing something that's broken, and even then those changes should be incremental, since Apple should be starting from a best-in-class platform well-honed from decades of learning.

Any wholesale change to a website or operating system or app is either:

A) an admission that you really had it completely wrong top-to-bottom before, so look at THIS! (the Microsoft Windows way of doing things and something Apple should never have to do).

B) an admission that you needed something fresh for the sake of something new (iOS7 cough, cough)

For me, I'd like a little of A) in the OS and iOS, semi-wholesale changes to fix certain vague and poor interface elements forced into practice by iOS7 and Yosemite and clinging on today, and which haven't been slowly reversed/fixed like some interface elements have been fixed over time (after Jony was booted)!

No rollover effect is appearing for me when hovering over any links, so can't see which is selected which is especially problematic since the text is so small and close to other links. Are rollover effects showing for other users?

The UX and UI have certainly improved. It's just a shame it's not WCAG compliant. Considering how great Apple is with accessibility on devices, I wish they put the same level of effort to their site.
What issues are you having? Keyboard interaction works, button elements are used and they're labeled correctly.
