Apple's 'Wonderlust' Event: New Products to Expect Beyond the iPhone 15

For me while the iphone is an interesting product...with thunderbolt support, titanium and slimmer bezel..i think that A17 will be the key information, because from that we will know more about the upcoming M3 family as well

Unless there's a vastly improved watch battery and life, looks like 3 more years with a new Garmin Venu 3 after the holidays and an iPhone 15 Pro after that in the new year.

Too bad, too, cuz I'd really like to have an all Apple 'personal wear' setup.

On the USB-C front, I was wondering early this morning how different Apple may be if Steve Jobs were still here. The switch to Lightning was under his watch. Numerous mini plugs on Macbooks, etc. The defaulting to Thunderbolt and USB-C is a significant milestone for the company that I welcome, but if the inclusion of use in iPhone is mainly due to EU legislation, would a Jobs led Apple give in, or look at introducing a new type of plug... again?

So they sell expensive USB-C cables, but non-pro iPhones only get USB 2.0, which came when many forum members were not even born yet. That was seven years before the iPhone without a number was released. USB 2.0 is so slow, that on notebook you only use it for a cabled mousse or maybe a USB powered fan.
Even Samsung doesn’t put 3.0 on anything but its most expensive phones. I think you severely over estimate how much the average person plugs their phone in for the purpose of data transfer.

Can't believe they would keep the mess between ipad air and Ipad spilling into 2024. At one point there were rumors of an ipad air chip update and more importantly for everday use: center the facetime camera!

Nah. That's not true. S23 is not the most expensive phone. S23 Ultra is. Yet S23 has USB 3. S10, S22, S21 as well...

Hell even Samsung S9 from 2018 had USB 3 already.

I hope the AirPods Pro 2 case will be available as a standalone purchase, for people who wants to move to USB-C without buying a whole new set of AirPods
I bet this is not going to happen.

They don't sell separate replacement case for AirPods Pro now.

Why would they do this now? Out of a good heart? To help their customers save some money? To save the environment as they claim? Naaah. We're talking about Apple.

I think there’s three assumptions that folk around here make all the time.

  1. Everyone uses a cable to transfer data.
  2. Everyone needs their phone to charge from empty to full in about ten minutes.
  3. Everyone upgrades their kit every time Apple releases something.

Oh, I just realized:

While we're finally past "Apple shipping a USB 2.0 speed cable with their laptops"

... now the iPhone 15 Pro/Ultra will have TB and will probably ship with a USB 2.0 speed cable (like the iPad Pro ships with a USB-C Charging Cable) and a small percentage of people will accidentally use for data all the time?

To make more money. They do sell a wireless charging case separately for Airpods that don’t/didn’t have it. They just ask a lot of money for it. So it’s not impossible.

That's true. But not for AirPods Pro. They know people who can afford Pro will just buy a whole new USB-C version altogether (with the earphones as well).

And so that's even more money for them.

I have a pair of OG AirPod pro and use wireless charging. Much easier to just plop the case on the pad than to fumble the cable in. Ditto for the phone. Only using the cable for CarPlay.

When would one update their airpods? Mine still work well (3rd Generation Airpods) but they are 2 years old. I've tried the bud type of earphones and they never worked for me. They would always fall out, which is why I wish they would create an airpod with the long stem but Pro capabilities.
