Agreed!

I don't know why they try and shoehorn everything into Moscone West, why not rent out some of Moscone North or South.

I totally agree it is time to move this to Moscone North/South or as suggested in years past break it into two events. One event for developers and one for IT. I had a busy summer already planned when I found out the date for WWDC 09. I was trying to shuffle projects to make it possible when I found out it was sold out. Makes it a moot point. By the way, WWDC is the only place you can find out enough info about the next version of Mac OS X client and server before it ends up in your environment.

West is a better venue for conference rooms and keynotes, North/South are mostly "big room" exhibit space (although there are some good rooms under Howard Street and upstairs in South).

One event for developers and one for IT.

Wasn't that the formula back when we had WWDC and MacWorld?

The control freaks at Apple don't recognize when something works....

I think Steve will be there. The keynote will be presented by Phil and there will be a "One more Thing" and it will be that Steve is back and he will walk out on stage to stupendous applause with a huge grin and a new product.

I can actually see that happening:cool:

Of course that means diddly squat, but hey, I'll let myself go with that until that time:D

Anybody here back from the student scholarship program yet? They have till the 4th to tell us but now I really hope I get it

Damn it! Just as my app started to be popular, and I thought it might be worth going - they sell out!

Likely announcements:

1) 20 minutes of boring pie charts and graphs showing how great the Mac is selling.
2) Update on how App Store is doing. Update on how Macs are selling. Chart showing what percent run Leopard now.
3) Demo of Snow Leopard features. Multiple charts showcasing increased performance. BOOM! Release Date. BOOM! Price. *In that order, lol*
4) iPhone OS 3.0 features fleshed out. BOOM! Release date.
5) Announcement of new iPhone. BOOM! Availability. BOOM! Release date. BOOM! Price.
6) BOOM! Jobs walks on stage. Says "and here's the new iPhone in my pocket!"

7-9) Inaudible audio (from the Thundering Applause of giddy nerds) for about 3 minutes.

10) Q&A:
a) Verizon? Canned answer:"We have a great relationship with AT&T right now."
b) Netbooks?: Apple doesn't make cheap crap. Real meaning: "We'll announce something closer to the holidays. This isn't a hardware conference!"
c) Bluray?: We've healed a bit from the bag of hurt. Maybe next time?
d) Touchscreen device?: Fake!

Sorry to spoil it for everyone!
P.S. I wonder how accurate I will be... hmm. *saves post*

Fixed. ;)

if this is the case it will be a really good day

session videos available for purchase?

Are you kidding me? The event is sold out and they still want money to watch session videos? I guess $29 Billion CA$H in the bank is just not enough.

Sorry to be so cranky about this, but come on!

I used to think the same thing but I've changed.

They do this to weed out the pro's from people that just purchase Dev licenses just to play around with beta stuff.

Apple will announce that they are getting out of the computer business and changing their name again to Apple Phone And Gadget Company. :D

What will MacRumors rename itself to, though? The change is happening there too - a majority of the stories are about gadgets, not Macs.

What's that you say, Steve? TI 1394 chipsets? Blu-Ray? Sorry, couldn't hear you over the trolls. :D

Don't hold your breath on videos

If memory serves, the videos from WWDC 2008 took about six months to be made available. Never did get a clear explanation about that.

This year I'm only going to attend the first 2.5 days of the event, so I'm going to ask Apple if it's OK if I give my badge to a needy programmer on the way out of town. Most of the sessions are repeated twice and in any case there's better seating the second time.

Incidentally, last year's event was extremely crowded, so I'm glad Apple doesn't go overboard and sell even more tickets.

I do feel a little bad for those that couldn't go, a friend of mine got approval to go on Monday and they were sold out the next day.

Hopefully those sessions will be available this year in a timely manner... 6 months was just ridiculous.

This will be my first WWDC. I was around the city last year just loitering which was also fun (we have an office down the street, on Market).

For those of you who have gone, when do you typically travel? I can't find any real schedule, just the session list. So, do I need to fly out Sunday eve in order not to miss sessions Monday morning, and how late Friday does everything typically go? The 'party' is Thursday night, right?

I wish there was more specific information on the WWDC site. Maybe there is, and I missed it?

I always arrived on Saturday night and left Sunday morning, so I had some time to look around San Francisco.

The keynote is Monday morning, so there aren't any sessions scheduled against it. You might want to get there early Monday morning for a good seat. The keynote starts at 10 am, and people start lining up in force before 5 am. Monday afternoon generally consists of "State of the Union" sessions on Mac OS X, iPhone, Quicktime, etc.

The party is Thursday night, since some travelers fly out Friday night.

They will post a tentative session schedule a couple of weeks before the event.

I fly in on Saturday afternoon, if you choose to fly in Sunday just make sure you do it early enough to pick up your badge otherwise you will have to pick it up on Monday and you will not be able to get a good seat for the keynote. As far as leaving, it chances from year to year. Normally I fly out late Sunday so I can be back to work on Monday. For a few years they had it in late June early July so you could stay for the 4th of July.

Not much happens on Monday other then the Keynote and State of the Union stuff.

Student trying to get to WWDC

My school is paying for my travel and hotel to go to wwdc. I entered to win the scholarship but was added to the waiting list and still haven't heard anything at all. I really want to go so bad. Anyone have any advice?

Thanks,

Bought ticket but not going

Hi,

Just a question

Is it possible to pass my ticket to a member of my team? The problem is that I'm not able to go to the conference and need to find a way to not waste the money i spent.

Has somebody an answer, thanks

I wish they would stream the event... even if it was to just the .me account holders or whatever.
Just seems like they would be doing this by now as they podcast it a day or so after anyway.
