This things shed like a husky in texas. I took a lint roller to the insides of them for about 15 minutes after they shed little fibre like hairs all over the macbooks and keyboards.

I do really like the looks of them and all of that, and I think they are pretty good quality, I just wish they were a bit more padded.

I tried to find the best sleeve that would look good but still give ample protection for my MBP. However, none of the available sleeves fit the idealized product I had in my head, so I just gave up and as a result I keep my computer in its original packaging in a safe. I then got worried about my house burning down, so I put the safe in a fireproof box which I then dipped in paraffin to seal it against moisture. Then I thought "well what if nuclear war breaks out, how will my MBP fare through nuclear winter???" so I bought a generator and dug a bomb shelter in my backyard with a thin layer of lead in the walls to prevent radiation from ruining the fragile electronics inside my paraffin-sealed, fireproof box in which my MBP lies.

I'm still a little worried about the aesthetics though, as the grass hasn't fully recovered from the area where I had to dig out the bomb shelter. Any landscapers here??

this seems to some up the attitude of a lot of posters here, well done

I think this thread has quite clearly established that sleeves like this aren't designed for all-out protection, just to guard against scratches and scuffs. If you are planning to put your macbook (pro) into a bag, you'll need to make sure you don't put stuff that would dent the aluminium if the sleeve wasn't there in the bag, because the sleeve offers no protection from force.

We have also established that some people are so far up their own asses they can't appreciate other peoples choices or opinions.

P.s I'm still planning on buying the black one for my new MBP

Just my 2 cents (or maybe 4 or so)
Seconded. And I'll be getting a red one for my new MacBook Pro. ;)

It's all moot since they shed and the fibers will end up inside your computer.

I don't get why anyone would buy one with that knowledge.

... I landscape, could you help me with a bomb shelter of my own in trade:D

Wax actually does a good job of shielding from certain types of radiation, so your plan is even better than you think!

Okay, bomb shelters aside, can anyone confirm how bad the shedding of the fleece actually is. Please don't exaggerate though, all I need to know is whether I'm going to have to vacuum everytime I take my macbook out of the sleeve.

Theres definitely some fibres on the screen when you take it out, its noticeable when the screen is off, I would say the screen just looks a bit dusty.

Its not noticeable on the actual computer because the colour doesn't contrast the little specks of fleece.

Honestly, its not something thats ever really worried me.

I got one right after I got my little pro. It stays in it's burlap bag when I'm not using it. I haven't really seen much in the way of shedding. It does look like a hippy made it, as it's just burlap on the outside. It contrasts nicely to the simple beauty of the little pro inside. The padding isn't really much more than.....just enough. It fits on the loose side of snug. There are no zippers to scratch my pro. But for all intents and purposes. It does it's job very well. I don't think that it would protect against books being smashed against it or WMD's, but anything cloth wouldn't do much for you there. If you want something a little more "professional" looking, foof makes some really nice stuff. Their Black as night sleeve is really nice looking.

the problem with that is that its shedding enough fibers to be noticeable on the screen it's probably shedding enough to get into the system.

that's too much of a risk for me to take so I opted for the zeroshock III

I know, I never really thought about that until I read this thread. Hmm...

I bought an AppleSac on the recommendation of these forums, and also because I appreciated the unique style. I quite like it (the black one). My only real complaint was the exorbitant shipping costs to Canada, and the fact that it still took forever to get here. I wouldn't buy a product from them again for that reason alone.
