I remember reading that a few users with the same problem were able to resolve it by restoring their iPhones.

Note that even if you delete an application entirely from both your iPhone and your iTunes install, you can still re-download it for free. This is true no matter what the price of the application was.

absolutely
just go back to the store and re-buy the app (i've only tried this from within iTunes though) and then the iTunes Store says "You've already purchased this app - press Ok to re-download for free"

Thanks for the responses. Although iTunes claimed I had the latest software, I restored. The apps still crash, I'll have to visit the :apple: store

Excellent thanks man, worked just like you said :)
Do you know how to delete apps via itunes? as every time i delete them from my phone itunes just puts it back when i re-dock.

Same problem here

I have the same issue. All the free apps from the app store keep quitting, even after a hard reset. I even did a restore, but that didn't solve the problem.

The only temporary fix is to delete the app from the homescreen and re-download it from the app store. That fixes it, but at some random time later, they all start crashing again.

for me restarting the phone helps always to launch the app which didn't start if i had other apps running, apple should really fix it soon!

I'm no programmer, but it seems like whenever I have that issue on a mac computer, it's usually a corrupted preference file. Don't know if iPhone apps even have those; just a random thought. If there was a way to delete the app preferences without deleting / reinstalling the app itself that might help.

Don't steal. Buy another copy for your brother.
Maybe instead of speaking to someone as if they were an active thief, you can just answer the legitimate question?

It's probably best to refer to the terms of use agreement per individual app. It might be up to the developer, but usually it will specify there.

Aww man. I'm having the same exact issue. No matter what-- I reset my phone, restore, etc. ALL third party apps keep dying -- even the paid ones (Monkey Ball, MotoRacer, etc.).

I didn't want to have to take it back to the store but I guess now I have to.

My last iPhone was awesome and rarely ever crashed.

This one has crashed at least five times since 11am yesterday when I got it.

I hope they fix this issue soon. I love this thing!

-- Update --

Just follow the instructions in the article that guy posted earlier and you'll be fine (or at least it worked for me).

Hopefully Apple will fix this sh*t in the next update. Otherwise, why bother?

Something to do with Logging into the iTunes Store

okay... after about an hour of frustration, i started to "manually" pull each app back down from the iTunes Store from my 2G iPhone running 2.0 software...

It asked for my iTunes password upon the first download... it went through the download... and now they ALL work again!

What started this is I downloaded about 15 of the free apps from within iTunes, then sync'd these apps to my iPhone... (one item failed) but the rest sync'd over... but NONE would work, they would launch, wait about 1 second, then crash / return to the main screen...

None of the original Apple iPhone apps would crash, just the free ones... and 1 I paid for...

So it appears to be related to a login issue with iTunes... hum...

Several people have described a problem with App Store applications after restoring from a backup. When your applications are launched on your new iPhone 3G, they will only show the start screen and then immediate quit.

The issue may lie in the Digital Rights Management embedded in each of the applications. In order to restore functionality, you simply need to delete the applications from the iPhone itself, and then resync the applications from iTunes. Once restored, the applications should launch properly.

To delete applications from your iPhone, you simply press and hold on one of the icons. All the icons will then start jiggling. Simply click the "X" in the top left hand of the application and it will ask you if you want to delete it.

Note that even if you delete an application entirely from both your iPhone and your iTunes install, you can still re-download it for free. This is true no matter what the price of the application was.

All you have to do is power down your iPhone.

Has anyone had an issue where you run an app then the phone just reboot by itself. Like when I tried to run the Evernote for the first time, it start like it would load but then the black screen a/ apple comes then boot back up.

Yes the iPhone restarts when an App crashes. Powering down your iPhone once a Day helps a lot.

Question

Is anyone experiencing LONG wait times when turning on their iphones? It takes a few minutes a lot of times to start up the phone. Maybe its because of all the new apps? Anyone having the same problem?

Is the "start screen then immediately quit" problem separate from the "start screen then reboot" problem? I'm getting tired of these surprise reboots.

There are two different problems:

one that will be fixed with a reboot and one that won't.

The one that won't, you need to resync the apps.

I tried just shutting down the iPhone first and restarting it. That didn't work for me. Then deleting the apps from the iPhone and reinstalling them worked. Problem hasn't come back since yesterday.

Constantly Crashing Apps ... Help Please

My Apps are constantly crashing. And it is not necessarily always the same ones. One minute Movies.app will work and the next time I launch it won't.

Same with New York Times

Same with Favorater

Same with Mobile News

Same with At Bat

Any recommendations?

Thanks

Yes, I have experienced this as well. My thoughts are the Apps where not quality checked at by Apple and the iPhone to me is becoming like the MS OS phones with other third party apps on them, buggy, I have been around PDS/Smartphone for some time and the iPhone is becoming unstable since the apps are now being loaded to this device. I am hoping this will be resolved by Apple or developers or I will start removing these programs to get back the stability the iPhone had before apps where being installed. I am getting what many are reporting here on this forum like program starts to load and kicks you back to the main screen, rebooting takes care of it, but it does return. Don't know if it's a memory issue I have left over 650 MB free on the phone, this happens with several apps. I even updated the new iPhone "iPhone1,1_2.0_5A347_Restore.ipsw" with file size 218.2 MB thinking this was it.
