itunes connect will be closed for awhile in december and when its up again, whatsapp still wont be update.

They do? I can't be sure, but I don't think I've paid more than once - when I bought it. And that was definitely more than a year ago...

They changed their pricing model. Originally it was a one-off £0.69/$0.99 payment. Now it's a yearly charge of the same, but those who bought it on the original price plan will remain 'free'.

The new WhatsApp 'golden master' has been released to their beta team - we could potentially see it in a week.

they've change their business model this year. it only affect new user. quick to change for the sake of profit, late to change for the sake of user. If they update their app with a lot of new features that's fine for me it has taken this long, but if just visual I don't know what to say anymore.

Yeah I know but there are ways around that and it sucks that other apps have swipe back but this doesn't.

google just want you to have quite a same experience as when using their app in android.

Good point but IMO priority should be to optimise the app to use the OS' features.

I've lost faith in WhatsApp. From what the beta testers have shown it's mostly a visual update. Notifications are still delayed a lot of the time on the iOS app these days.

yeah i agree it could be coming in later update.

Perhaps they prefer other platform nowadays. Allocate little resources for iOS platform. Maybe it's time for us to change to another app?

I would change in a heartbeat if I could convince all my friends/family to do it too.

Rumor has it that whatsapp should be coming this week given that the golden master was seeded over the weekend.

Fingers crossed.

You're mistaken. Reread my posts, push and background update aren't the same thing.

Gmail app has always supported push, or has done for a long time.

Only now, with this update, has it supported background update.

From another discussion I had on this;

Gmail previously supported push of course, but it still only actually downloaded email when you launched the app. Really surprised they didn't mention it in the patch notes, the difference is night and day. You'd previously get a partial preview of emails and it would update read/unread status, but it wouldn't actually download the email in readiness so it's there the moment you open the app. Not much of an issue when you're on wifi or have a good signal, but even then there'd be a pause upon opening the app as only then does it download the email. If you only have one or two unread it'd be quick, but it was really noticeable when you've got a pile of unread emails, and especially annoying if you try to read email, from maybe 20 minutes earlier, and you've got no signal and it's not preloaded. Hardly google's fault prior to iOS7 though, given only now can third party apps access background update, unlike iOS 6 and below.

i see thanks for the info
