I don't like apps getting updated to iOS 7 but not even using the new keyboard style, for example: Flight+, Ticketmaster, Viber etc etc.

There's a difference between updating an app so it works with iOS 7, and updating it with the new APIs so it matches iOS 7's new style. These apps were just updated so they would work.

I would expect the developers are working on updating the look as well, and you have the wrong attitude about it. Cut them some slack.

So judging by that, this is what the new Facebook app is like, my dad's been testing the beta version of it on his phone, but with an iOS6 based UI...

I dont like it.. Why would they get rid of the side menue??

Thanks for posting this! That looks exactly like the screengrab from the keynote. You are not getting in trouble now I hope?

Such a shame they are moving away from the very functional side menu.

An app called my aero has been updated and has a iOS 7 UI. Is this allowed?

I've seen that before, and that screenshot is a mockup made over a month ago. This isn't the final app, but it is a good representation of what it could look like.

Not an actual screenshot. It's a mockup you can find on http://ios7redesigns.tumblr.com

So here are my predictions of apps the will be updated for iOS 7 on iOS 7's public release date.

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Facebook Messenger (maybe)
  • Spotify
  • TuneIn Radio (maybe)
  • Twitterific (already confirmed its coming)
  • Every Apple app (duh)
  • Instagram
  • Foursquare
  • Soundhound
  • Skype
  • Dropbox
  • Kik Messenger
  • Mailbox (...it "on their list" ...just like Outlook support and icloud support for the last 6 months...ahem sorry)

I'm afraid so too. Whatsapp Inc. is such a strange non-communicative company. It has soooo much customers / users, they make millions, but it feels like the company only exist of 20 employees and they don't communicate with their users and no information gets out through sources close to them. So all we can do is wait......
Strangly, I think Android is their priority.

I agree, WhatsApp has needed a UI overhaul for a long time now - I don't think it's changed since initial release. I don't have confidence that it would come quickly.
I'm really liking these mockups so I hope the actual release is somewhat similar.

It just doesn't feel like 20 employees, there probably just aren't more than 20 employees working at Whatsapp. It's a very small team.

I hope so, but Spotify took months to adopt the iPhone 5 so I'm definitely not holding my breath on a release day version.

I am beta testing the new UI just in black. Quite nice. I hate the news feed though 'cause it feels like there's something missing and it won't stick at recent activities.

Can you post a screenshot?

Ive seen this layout on some iOS6 phones, downloaded from the appstore, not a beta.

Capital One updated today to be "compatible with iOS7".

I think we will be seeing a lot of that, and then over the next year the design changes will emerge to adapt to the new flat UI that apples is going for. I think they are getting a lot of encouragement from apple to update to look consistent.

Maybe they will start denying apps in the store unless they update the UI. That would be an interesting story for macrumors.

A lot of people are talking about updating apps to make them "consistent" with iOS 7 UI. Just a note, there are at least a couple of ways to interpret that I think.

One of the simplest might be updating the some of the common UI elements to use the newer versions - e.g. the keyboard, the table views (e.g. see the difference in Settings). I believe these changes will relatively simple and straightforward for developers to do.

Another thing is to completely redesign the app so there's less gloss, so they use common UI elements instead of their own, etc. etc.. There's no straightforward way to do this, lots of people will do this in different ways to varying degrees. This might take longer and some may never choose to completely overhaul their design.
