April 1 2006; Apple's 30th Anniversary and April Fools 2006

One last thing, you know, Apple was founded on April Fools day in 1976. We thought that was funny at the time, and what that means, is that Apple will be thirthy years old this April Fools day. And I don't know what we're gonna do for it, but since we may not see many of you before then I just wanted to point it out: thirthy years, making the best personal computers in the world.

These are his (apart from spelling and euhms) exact words at the keynote in January. He doesn't promise anything, but to me it seems they were expecting to see a lot of those people back, so that probably meant a special event or at least a party. Maybe that changed because of technical issues, but it disappoints me.

I didn't sell my laptop, I WANT to buy one. He didn't say he would release a macbook, he said they would do something special to celebrate their 30th anniversary, which they haven't. The point is, Why do they have to be SO secret about EVERYTHING. If they had said, Macbooks aren't coming til next christmas, then I would have bought an ibook in January. But I don't know because they only hint, never tell, and I don't want to buy something only to have Apple hold a "special" event tomorrow, and bring out the latest and greatest.

I'm a writer, and my laptop died in September.. I'm working on an old Dell in a very noisy and distracting house.. its just frustrating.

September was a long time ago. Apple has had 2 siginficant laptop updates since your old one died. last rev. powerbook and new macbook pro. or you could have gotten a maxed out ibook to tide you over. there will always be a better, faster computer on the horizon. you need to take the dive and not look back or you'll be playing the waiting game and pissed off at your old Dell for a long, long time...

For those buying a non-Apple notebook. Please do so and leave.

If your buying basis is that you didn't get something that was rumored then by all means, have a great time with Sony. I'm sure Steve will loose a lot of sleep over this....
