OH JESUS! This crap caused me to buy a sony VAIO yesterday.

Man its freaking fast. Only cost $1279. Dual Core 3ghz with 4mb L2 Cache, TV card, 320gb Raid 0 drives. 1gb of Ram. Upgraded to Radeon X1600 512mb for $127 more. Oh, did I mention its liquid cooled and has no fans so it makes NO noise? Thats right. And it looks cool. Also has dual DVD drives. Ones a DVD ROM and one is a DVD+RW DL. 9 in 1 media card reader. 9 usb ports, 2 firewire. Remote control. Wireless Mouse and keyboard.

Now. WHEN IS APPLE GOING TO SELL A CONFIG LIKE THIS WITH A PRICE LIKE THIS?

I am starting not to give a crap about OSX. I mean its better than XP but I am starting to lose interest in spending $2500 more for a machine just because it has OSX on it, especially when the machines hardware are the same now.

Wow, nice. Considering the ability to run OSX on any x86, that would be great. What model is it? Got a link?

I'm buying a Vaio tomorrow afternoon if Macbook isn't released. If they weren't going to do anything then Steve shoudl have kept his mouth shut and I would have not been without a laptop for two months.

First time buying experience from Apple isn't going well, I thought it was suppose to be different.

And where did Steve say he was going to be releasing MacBooks.? As far as I'm aware he hasn't announced anything.

If you sold your laptop on the basis of a non-existant statement, then more fool you.

I didn't sell my laptop, I WANT to buy one. He didn't say he would release a macbook, he said they would do something special to celebrate their 30th anniversary, which they haven't. The point is, Why do they have to be SO secret about EVERYTHING. If they had said, Macbooks aren't coming til next christmas, then I would have bought an ibook in January. But I don't know because they only hint, never tell, and I don't want to buy something only to have Apple hold a "special" event tomorrow, and bring out the latest and greatest.

I'm a writer, and my laptop died in September.. I'm working on an old Dell in a very noisy and distracting house.. its just frustrating.

i have been waiting to the macbook for quite a while now as some of us have...i will wait until wednesday and then i will buy the 14inch ibook with 100gb..it has around 6 hours of battery...perfect for students like me..who knows what the macbook will bring?...i need a computer...soon...i am tired of looking at macrumors...and all i have been hearing is "i hope...i hope..." any other advice? i love macrumors...and the people on this site...i need advice on what to do...other than wait...what else?

These ppl are loons
they think Apple owes t hem something and somehow Apple is their friend that happens to make computers for them, versus Apple being a company.

Then they actually think they are hurting Apple by buying a pc. LMAO!
When its them who will have a crap machine with a crap operating system.

They are holding Apple accountable for rumors and assumptions.

Lol. You guys buying Vaios are gonna be pissed when the new Macbooks come out :)

I read somewhere the (real 8x DL) Superdrives needed to fit in the 1" thick MacBooks ship in May (for consumers). That said Apple might have the MacBooks (former iBooks and MBP) ready, just waiting for the optical drives. WWDC is usually in June, but the MacBook is more like a consumer product so I guess there will be an event before WWDC for the books. The 17" (and hopefully 12") MBP might see daylight at WWDC.

I know some people are really pissed about the 4x drive you have in the actual 15" MBP. Apple (S.J.) likes announcing new products "shipping today". I like that too. Too bad we don't have decent apple stores around here... still can't find a MBP on display.

Is this macosrumors website thing reliable.(www.macosrumors.com) Ive always seen appleinsider not as relible but as informativebut i dont know if this is place is bullfaeces or not. Im soooo tempted to get a psp but theres still the tiny possibilty of the touchscreen fullscreen thing.

Look this is getting very annoying. Apple Computers never officially announced they would release something for their anniversary. They just said this is the 30 year for the company; so it is a very special year. Apple never said they would release a product on there anniversary date. You just thought because of all the rumors that apple would. Also, you are talking about technology; it never stops changing. You state you want the Macbook? So, I must assume you want a ibook intel eqivalent. Well, buddy even when the new and if they do come out, macbooks hit the market. The latest and greatest will still be the macbook pro. So, either invest in one of those or keep waiting; but stop whining and saying a company you hardly even know has hurt you.

i still cant belive theres nothing!!! what is this!!!! if there is nothing tommorow then i guess something on april 30th? this is so dumb.

This gets more exciting now--another announcement will happen between now and June for sure, but the question still remains if it will be sooner rather than later.

it better be sooner

and mac rumors owner give us some news.. its april 3rd, not 1st

<Pasted from http://www.macosrumors.com/>
Apple will announce the first Intel-based iBooks in an event in early to mid April, according to sources...followed by the 'MacBook Thin' this summer.
</Pasted from http://www.macosrumors.com/>

This makes sense to me, especially when Steve is in India right now. The issue with the DL Superdrive may not be one with the MacBooks since they will be thicker (so the 8x DL will fit) and most consumers won't bother for high speed Dual Layer drives as much as those who spend twice as much fpr their laptop.

We got 4 more tuesdays this month: 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th. Wanna bet on a date?

Jobs implied that they would do something for their 30th. I didn't say I expected a product release, but if the website had been updated with anything then i would have known and could have made a decision.

I understand technology just fine. I want the best deal, I don't want to pay 1200 for a notebook when a new one for the same price give or take will have more features and faster processing. I didn't say Apple "hurt" me.. and I'm not whining, I'm annoyed, why can't they just tells us?

The fact that amazon has cut prices of all the ipods must hint at something....My brain still hurts from Saturday and I reallllly want to spend my birthday money (which Ive been saving for the next launch)...... Please get rid of the nano and give us what we want.

I was serching google and found that there is a Linux World Conference and Expo in Boston. They Say Apple will be there, could they release somthing there ? Heres a link Apple is listed http://www.linuxworldexpo.com/live/12/events/12BOS06A/exposition/exhibitorlist

It starts tommorow

I don't think Apple will release something on a Linux Conference. Most Linux fanboys don't like apple anyway... And I suppose you won't find many Apple geeks there either. So showing an audience of 20 people would be a disaster worse than the HiFi thing. I think we will hear about invitations a week prior to an event.

We'll have none of your "rational thinking" there, Macnoviz!

This is a rumor site, and we'll ignore all reasonable, logical thoughts and ideas in order to rant about our unreasonable and il-logical Apple products/services, and their associated un-reasonable and il-logical release dates set by us.

;)

All right, point taken.
Since we're not really able to explain this dullness, let's talk future:
What products will Apple release in the next 10 (30?) years??
Will there be a keynote at their 40th birthday, and what product will be announced??
Will the iPod still exist or will it be dropped like the Newton??
Will the Newton return??
Will windows stay market leader and/or evil empire??
Will we have a Hexa PowerMac with four 8 GHz quatro cores??

I just can't believe how people can photoshop such invitations quite good, and still make spelling mistakes... It's sad
Give us a good fake, so we can get some false hope, at least, this is just,... well, yeah...
