a bit off topic, forgive me

But this is a desktop customization question: How do you rename the windows hard drive icon? I've seen people with other names for it, but mine won't let me change it (the normal way or renaming something) from the default "untitled." did I have to do this when I was installing Windows through bootcamp? I didn't see an option...

I'm not 100% positive, but I think that it depends on the type of format you use. I have mine named WINDOWS XP and not untitled, but I'm not positive as to how I did it as it's been a while. I'm sure someone else will have a suggestion.

EDIT: Have you tried the Cmd+i and then typing a new name in? I just renamed mine using that method. Give it a shot.

You can change the name of it from within windows. When in windows go to "My Computer" and then name the C: drive whatever you want. Hint: If you do not want it appearing on you desktop in OS X put a full stop in front of the name, i.e. ".windows" without quotes.

Thanks both of you. I don't feel like restarting into windows right now (I try to avoid it whenever possible, and it's such a nice sunday - why ruin it with Vistuh?) But the next time I have to I'll try your method. Thanks again!

i took almost that exact same picture last week.
do you happen to go to uw? ive seen someone use that as their background on their mac in one of my classes.

I go to UW just for the Air Force ROTC program. For my degree, I go to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (satellite campus in Renton). I live right up here in Northgate though.

But no, that wasn't me. ;) It's a nice picture though. I have it on my iPhone as well.

Aloha everyone,

Not to be left out, here is my MacBook Pro's April desktop. What with Vista's rather disappointing adoption rate, even by Microsoft's standards, this desktop is even more apropos.

Trip.Tucker, I also love the design of the PowerMacs. The side of the case that folds down affords easy access to all of the internal components, as opposed to the PC design. Apple's attention to design is yet another reason for which I will never consider purchasing another PC again.
