This is AquaWeb Plus, a high-performance minibrowser based on Aquafox and finely-tuned with TenFourFoxPEP. It features a rudimentary navigation bar, file download, and media playback support in order to make light web usage and casual browsing easier for PowerPC users everywhere.
Aquafox is required; Core Image-compatible graphics are recommended.
Usage Tips:
o Select Home under the File menu (or press Command + Home) to return to the search prompt.
o Press Command + Shift + U to copy the current page URL to the system clipboard.
o Press Command + R to reload the page, press Command + Left to go back a page, and press Command + Right to go forward a page. This can also be done using the built-in navigation buttons.
o o Press Escape to stop loading a page. This can be useful to curb runaway scripts while loading particularly slow websites after the content itself has already loaded.
o Because AquaWeb uses the DuckDuckGo search engine, utilizing "!bangs" to jump straight into a site instead of searching for it first can save time. Instead of searching for 'YouTube', simply preface a query with '!yt', followed by whatever phrase you wish to search for. The same applies to Yahoo! (!y), Bing (!b), Startpage (!sp), Wikipedia (!w), old reddit (!oldreddit), and so on.
o In lieu of full screen browsing, click the green "+" button in the top-left corner of the browser window to maximize the browser window. Note that this will reduce performance, but can be useful in websites that temporarily require a larger viewing area. Click it again to return to the prior state.
o In lieu of tabbed browsing, open a locally saved website link (webloc file, for example on the Desktop) while AquaWeb is active to open a new window. Opening certain links within certain webpages will also provide this result.
o To increase playback performance, AquaWeb disables support for WebM streams by default. In order to play videos on YouTube, run the included 'Enable Media Playback' script on G4 systems only, and use the Aquafox MP4 Enabler installer on G5 systems only.
