Of course not... taking care of your stuff isn't fanboy ism, but gong overboard is.

Whats makes it clear to me,,, others just have a tough time.... and in someways.... ya I guess Apple users are kind of to blame for that... Not saying that they don't get it, it just means it usually just takes allot more convincing... more than others...

There is noting wrong with a bit of hard work :D

It's true that there are people on these forums who will defend Apple under all circumstances and attack those who would criticise them. You could argue those people are not fanboys at all, since if you really love someone, i.e. Apple, you tell them the truth, e.g. iTunes is an ***** disaster.
Well to be fair if there are those who defend apple, there are those will attack apple under all circumstances and attack those who post a favorable opinion.

Quite frankly a lot of labels are thrown out around here, so one has to have a tough skin.

Ironically, aren't we all just a bit nuts ?

Nothing wrong with people liking stuff, but hugging it is something i have a problem with... I don't mind people liking products for what they are, and telling the truth when something clearly has issues, but that's not the case...

People just like Apple products regardless..

Gee, Apple thought the root "fan" was for fantastic. Then again, maybe "fan" is for fantasy where form over function is a worthy notion.

not sure if it is just beeing a fanboy, but more or less i think it is the reason of the price. you have paid a good money for the item and expecting it to be perfect for long - even when you manage to drop it down to the bath(?). so i quess it is just that you dont want to see any faults when you have paid a fortune.

When I was well involved with photography, I always got a kick how various folks with their photo equipment would check out by an "off glance" the other person's gear. I recall when at times people with laptops were that way. Lucky those days are almost gone. There was a time when having Apple was a statement. I don't believe it really is that way now but more like the opposite - being "in" with the in crowd.

I'll just say I take reasonably good care of my Apple gear but I admit not quite as good as I did with my photo gear. After all, I had to make a statement (grin).

A fanboy is someone who thinks Apple can do no wrong which seems to be 95% of iOS users here. :p
actually, since i started coming to this site i've been surprised at how rare it is to see any Apple fanboy posters. from what i can tell, most of the people on here seem very rational. i feel like i see more anti-apple people in here than Apple fanboys

critics - not anti-apple...

Yes, agreed. The very raison d'être of the forum is to discuss - usually with some subliminal sense of admiration - all things Apple. In the more sane parts of the forum, that is.

However, if you wander off the beaten path into the dark undergrowth of - for example, the iPhone sub-section, or the iWatch region - you will manage to muster - or, at least, encounter - a full complement of Apple fanboy fanatics. Guaranteed, in fact.

My MacBook slipped off the edge of the bath where it was balancing while I was, er, sitting down next to it, and it fell into the empty bathtub. No real damage, but there's a bit of a scuff and a very small dent.

And now I'm traumatised because my beautiful, perfect MacBook is no longer beautiful.

(It just occurs to me: I have no idea what damage the bath itself suffered. I don't even care.)

Why are we so obsessed with looks when it comes to our Apple products? I'm as guilty as anyone of needlessly upgrading. I currently have an iPhone 6+. I haven't upgraded to the 6S, partly because how much better could it possibly be, and partly because it physically looks the same. I'll try hard not to upgrade to the 7, but if Ives does his usual trick and somehow makes it better looking, I know I'll struggle not to persuade myself that actually 3D touch is an essential feature, and I really need those extra megapixels in the camera that I rarely use and whose photos I almost never look at.

I was looking at my dog just now. He's got scuff marks, too. He's got very thin skin and when he takes a tumble, it leaves a scar. I'm not traumatised about that at all. I love him just as much.

Is the genius of Apple that they turned a functional objection into a fashion item? Is there really any need to upgrade any of your Apple products more than about once every five years? I had the same TV for nearly nine years (until I buckled under needless, self-imposed pressure and bought a curved 1080p Samsung that I'm not sure is really all that much better than the 720p Sony I had).

The first alum MBP I had, I dented in within a week of taking possession. After that I've kept all follow-on boxes encased in plastic. No dents since.

You could say "you're an Apple fanboi" for the sake of being an Apple fanboi.. That would be nuts.

I look after my stuff in general, but definitely try to look after my apple gear because I appreciate the fit and finish on it. It is well screwed together, looks good and it's a shame to ruin it.

You would be nuts not to... (grin)
Crazy eyes roll!

With your NEC monitor and sweet Nikon set up you must be a bit more than sane. As for me, I admit to being not an Apple fanboi but encroaching on being a Fuji X fanboi (having had all my film photo years in the Nikon camp).
I'd like to think so. I like :apple: products. I appretiate their design quality. Take my NEC monitor. From a colour space and uniformity it is superior to a Thunderbolt Display in every way. But in terms of design it's not as pretty. But I chose the functionality over the form. Sometimes :apple: just get that the wrong way round.

Every fanboy is nuts - whether it's an Apple fanboy who refuses to accept that some people prefer Windows or Android, or some Android fanboy who refuses to accept that Google is evil.

That said, in my experience irl I've never met an Apple user who's rabid; I've met a ton of Android users who get downright offensive. But that's just my experience.

I find often that some "fanbois" of Apple are those that buy on the expensive side and then post rationalize their purchase and are unwilling to acknowledge there were either counterparts that were cheaper or simply their purchase lacks a few features. However, when push comes to shove, whatever makes the person happy is what matters and I used to be a fanboi years ago of other things that led to brand loyalty. I don't operate that way anymore for the most part. In fact, many of the brands I was loyal to changed over the years because they changed in a way that wasn't compatible with my needs (and wants) or became antiquated such as film cameras.

Btw, a few weeks ago, I did a small bit of work for a home office owner. He was ALL Apple ALL the time. I ended up running a blind test for him in his home with an Apple device and a non-Apple device. He ended up with the non-Apple device after swearing up and down the Apple device is the "best of breed" out there. This was, as you might guess, the router. He ended up buying a Netgear r7000 router over the Airport Extreme based on performance of speed and distance of WiFi. Sadly, some fanboys of Apple are that way because they are unaware of what is out there. I'll remain appreciative in general of OSX but don't really care about the hardware as long as it functions well and to my needs.
