I take mine in the shower with me every morning and wash it with Head & Shoulders.

Works great.

For the most part I agree. Except I stupidly let patients in the hospital use my phone when I need to use google translate. And even if I know a certain bug can't be transmitted on a fomite (e.g. Mycobacterium tuberculosis,) I still get grossed out and soak it with sanitation wipes.

Well I agree when we are talking about sick people in a hospital. C Diff spores are nothing to mess with.

But on a daily basis, there is no need to lather down your phone, cars, home with lysol, bleach and anti-bacterial products.

You guys let your friends get their gross hands all over your phone? Nasty.

For most situations—since I'm not handing my phone to Mr. Peanutbutterhands—I just breathe on it and wipe on my shirt or pants.

there's an infectious disease expert who suggests wiping down your phone with clorox wipes once a day.

I used to use Lysol wipes but now that I have a leather case, I can't really do that - though I might wipe the screen if a friend/coworker uses it. But I've gotten to the point where I'm old and cranky and I don't show people my phone or let them touch it so I haven't had to clean it. If I do show a photo, which I rarely do now (I'll just send it to their phone) - I'll hold it near me and make it clear that I don't want to let go of it.

I may be a germaphobe (I've been called this) but I have absolutely no desire to touch other people's phones. If I do, I'll make a B line to the bathroom and give my hands a good scrub. My wife's phone? I don't do this. We share a living space and life together. But someone elses? So I'm not completely insane.

The thing about Lysol wipes - it leaves a film on the glass that can affect the touch sensitivity. So I take a soft t-shirt or cloth and dab a little water to get that film off.

I wouldn't recommend doing lysol wipes very often. (I average maybe 4-5 times a year).

99% of the time, a puff of breath and wipe on my t-shirt is what I do to remove fingerprints on the glass.

I've seen a few people with those small blue UV things where you put your phone into a cradle and it bathes it in that blue light. Wonder if it works.
Someone bought that for me as a gag gift for my birthday and I never used it but I think I might have to try it.

clorox Eipes will take the oleophobic coating off and mAy damage the screen
If I remember correctly they’re a surface disenfectant and cleaner not a Glass clreaner

Thats Likely true where disinfectant Clorox wipes would remove the Oleophobic coating, being the coating is naturally organic, and it eventually wears off anyways. I probably would not use certain disinfecting wipes on a brand new iPhone display, but if it was an older iPhone, I personally would use disinfecting wipes on it.

I can’t test it myself, but I think someone has.

I take the phone case off and put my iPhone in phone soap. Then I throw the case by itself in after my iPhone is done. I use it for everything else that fits too. Apple Watch and Siri remote.

Wow! You people are incredible.

I just you Ziess lens cleaning wipes that you can buy off Amazon or at Walmart. They are safe for anti-reflective coatings on plastic eyeglass lenses and the coated lenses of optics like binoculars or camera lenses. So they shouldn’t affect the coating on the glass screen of a smartphone.

Chlorox or bleach can be actually corrosive to some metals. Do not really worry too much about the germ as they are all mine. Nothing you can do to get rid of them, some even think they make your immune system stronger.

Stay out of public restrooms!
