I lf course noticed the incessant tab reloading immediately and was disappointed, but it wasn't until I really tried to use the phone for heavy browsing that I realised how much of a dealbreaker the 1GB of RAM is. It affects basic operational features for goodness sake. This is a 'phablet' and thus should be capable of more intensive use than a typical mobile phone. Come on though, I don't know why we're all bickering. I have my opinion, and believe it to be valid. You have yours and also believe it to be valid. I'm sure that nobody will be grumbling when iPhones finally get two or more gigs of RAM.
I will be grumbling. I don't want to pay for more unnecessary RAM. There doesn't appear to be very many people that want that feature. The phones work great without it. You have a defective phone and you really need to get it replaced rather than endlessly complaining. Complaining accomplishes nothing.

Why would you have to pay for it? You think 6S is going to cost more if it had more ram?

I used to complain about tab reloading on my iPhone 5 and was adamant that I wouldn't get the newer i6 due to it having the same amount of RAM. Due to the purchased apps I have and not really liking what the competition had to offer, I plumped for the 6+ after all. What I didn't expect was worse performance than my i5 when it comes to tab reloading. You can't blame me for expecting more of the same surely? I tell no lie, the iPhone 5 reloads tabs and apps *much* less readily than my 6+ and that is my issue with it. I just cannot get my head around why Apple released such a crippled 'flagship' device. This thing is soooo not futureproofed it's unreal! The iPhone 5 is more capable in a key area, and it's more than two years old. In hindsight, I would much rather have limped along with my iPhone 5 for another year and had £700 in my wallet. My 6+ is nothing but a temporary device until the 6S launches, and so in that respect it fills no more of a void than my old iPhone 5 would have.
The 6+ should be at least as good as the iPhone 5 in every respect, and better in some areas. That isn't the case sadly.

Agreed 100%. I though I wouldn't limp on a 5s for another year, the screen is too good. I experienced my first limitation the other day. Having a tumblr in safari, the page had tons of thumbnails, opened a bunch in background. Then went to the tabs, but none of them would load, and didn't even have the address loaded. So going back to the tumblr tab, now that page reloaded again. I had scrolled through 10 pages worth of thumb, and I had to scroll through them again to get past the ones I've seen.

And Apple has absolutely NO problem with that at all :)

I agree with what you said about the iPhone 5 and tab reloading. It's truly pathetic that a device 2 years older has better memory management (because it is 32-bit). Apple really cheaped out 2 years in a row by moving to 64-bit and not upgrading the RAM.

Because no matter what they charge for a 2 gig model it has to be more expensive than a 1 gig model. Memory is not free.

They upgraded the camera, display, battery and loudspeaker on my 6+ 'for free', so why not the RAM? I'm in for £699, and would definitely have paid more to have a phone which worked as well as my old one.

Why don't you get your defective phone replaced?

User experience would've been great if Apple had spent a couple of dollars for that 2nd gigabyte but profit comes first.

I enjoyed my 6, but it was for the RAM reason I sold it - while the value was still relatively high (I took a 150$ hit off the 1000$ I spent, but I also used it quite heavily for the remainder of 2014)

I noticed over the last few months a fair bit of reloading. It wasn't an issue initially (I tend to have 5 safari tabs open) but only once I would open more apps would this become an issue.

Since then I have gone back to my 5 & 5S and although I miss the larger screen and better battery life, the phones run beautifully on iOS 8 and I will be looking forward to this fall when I am able to get a new phone contract and upgrade.

I essentially lost the apple care plus and taxes on my iPhone 6, but it worked out in the end in a way that I am content. Those of you on the verge, I would suggest to sell while the value is still high for the iPhone 6. Those who are content with the 6, stick with it. I feel if a user is not happy with their phone, they can do something about and vice vera: if they are happy with their phone, they should not let other opinions sway them

Better than you have been following this thread or you would have returned it by now.

You haven't been following the thread then.
Why do you guys have to get so defensive? I'm not criticising your family or your football team. Just a phone which I happen to own. As for it being 'defective' it really isn't. I'm complaining about the lack of RAM, not that my particular phone has a fault that yours doesn't.

I just want better battery life. But 2 gigs of ram should be put into the phone no doubt. Faster processor too

I think they didn't put 2GB of RAM because they are trying to maintain the profit margin as high as possible. That's why it starts with 16GB of storage, and not 32. Higher profit. And you are more attracted to the next configuration, which is 100$ more: higher profit!

i knew reload would be a problem when i decided to get the 6 plus but i just couldnt stand the horrible battery usage i was getting with my 5s. the only thing 6+ bothers me the stutter when i switch between apps while listening music. all that new A7, A8 bs they advertise mean nothing to me. i will take a5 32bit over this anyday.

obviously...even if it cost tham $1 to upgrade to 2gb. it will cost then millions when all said n done

I'm eager to sell mine and replace it with next years version. That's the iP6 that'll be greatly improved and a keeper for at least two years.

It's sure to get Apple's "silent" improvements like being less fragile and shipping with more memory. Not to mention all the other improvements Apple's sure to brag about and hype to the hilt.

Did they charge extra for the 64-bit in the 5S? or the Touch ID? Or Slo-Mo camera? I'll end with a period so I'll sound firm and correct as well.

No, but they would have charged less if they had omitted these features. Do you really think memory is free?

Your phone has a defect and should be returned. Complaining on a forum over and over again gains you nothing. Yes I have been following the entire thread and that has nothing to do with your inability to solve a problem. Either replace your phone with an Android, get your phone fixed or quit the complaining.

Perhaps you should stop denying an obvious problem with your treasured device, or leave this thread as it obviously irritates you.
