Yes, i've seen this phone. My co-worker has one and loves it. He also bashes Apple. I watched the video and i'm still not too thrilled with the UI. The camera on it is impressive though. Certainly not something for mom. I told her it's not the time now to get a new phone for her (she's in my family plan). I have to keep an eye out for a deal. Before i got the iPhone, i had the Samsung Blackjack 2. A $200 phone with 3G. IT SUCKED. I can't imagine spending $30 a month for data for that phone!!!! WASTE.
Are people still buying iPhones? Have you seen anyone? Do you know anyone
that has bought an iPhone in the past week? Have you seen a line at a store
to buy iPhones?
I know a friend of mine who was waiting a few months for their contract to run out on Sprint before porting over, but their old Sprint RAZR just bit the dust after dropping from a height of three feet on carpet. Rather than buy a new Sprint phone, they're likely going to bite the bullet and port out this weekend.
I also know another friend of mine who got a 16GB black about three weeks ago, also a port from Sprint. I still hold a grudge against Sprint for screwing me after 7 years of being with them, so the fact that I've now managed to draw away 7 of my friends in the past year has become a point of pride for me.
I bought mine Saturday. Still hasn't arrived. I know some friends who want one. In my case, my Dad (it's his plan) didn't want to upgrade until he was sure that we got the best deal for the iPhone + 3 other phone upgrades.
I'm actually debating selling my original iPhone (I bought it on the first day, but it's all scratched up and I'd love a 16gb instead of the 8gb I have now) and buying a 3G tomorrow... someone's willing to buy my phone for the same price as a 16gb, so...
The only thing holding me back is the sentimental value of it... haha... I know it sounds corny, but there's just something cool about holding onto it since I waited in line for 10+ hours for it on the first day. And, I'm still not really sure how I feel about the plastic back vs. the aluminum...
The wife and I have had our 3g's for 1 month now. I can't stop using it. It is a brilliant piece of technology and will not by another phone unlike it ever again!
When we bought the pair, the store was packed(as always), and I saw at least 4-5 other people buying at the same time.
It almost feels like everyone will own one by 2010.
How do you know there is plenty of stock? Do you "know someone" that works at an Apple store?
(btw, I can now 'somewhat' vouch for the people that say there are a lot of iPhones on college campuses. Today, I had to pick up a letter from a former college professor of mine, and I told him I'd meet him on campus. In walking across the campus, I saw four people with iPhones. That's not "50%" like someone said, but I don't know of many other places in our society where I can walk 1000 feet and see four people with iPhones)
