I've looked at all the major brands, and I have yet to see a glass shield that covers the sensor array. Even Otterbox, famous for making great "sealed" cases, are only offering the X case without a screen protector. You have to buy a separate protector, and of course it doesn't cover the notch.

Why is this? I'd think that with all those gizmos up in the notch, it would be at least as important to protect as the screen itself? Has anyone seen a protector - glass or otherwise - that covers the notch?

I would think that it would degrade the function of the cameras and sensors if they're covered by a screen protector. I highly doubt you'll find any that cover the notch.

Thats my whole point. I want the big screen but not the FaceID. I plan on throwing a few dots of white-out on the screen protector to cover the FaceID sensors, just like I do with the front cameras on all my iPhones.

Either I have to resort to putting scotch tape over the cameras now, or else I'll get an 8.

the 3d ones cover notch but have holes for the sensors

What 3d ones? What does 3d mean in this respect?

Some people can have a hard time imagining use-case scenarios outside of their own.

It’s very interesting to know this about screen protectors for the X, I’d have to have it in hand to know how I feel about it. I don’t know enough about the tech or glass to make any assumptions here.

I appreciate the link. That slit cut in the top - that must be for the speaker?

I don't think either of these would work well as they cover the 3D sensor so Face ID wouldn't be able to measure the different depths of your face.

Thats the idea. That, plus a dab of white-out to finish the job. Both the FaceID camera and the front facing camera.

I ordered the g-color one off of amazon and it came in yesterday. Covers the notch but has “precise cutouts” for the four cameras/sensors in the notch area.

Face ID a key feature on the iPhone X. Why do you want to get rid of the feature. Get an 8 and save money if you do not like Face ID. That will help. If you only are scared of front camera spies then only cover the front facing camera.

ICarez says the Face ID still works with their full 3D protector. I’ll find out in a couple days when mine arrives.

Help what?

Getting the 8 means not getting the larger, OLED screen or the dual rear camera that the X has.

I fully plan on covering the front camera- did you read my posts? I put a screen protector on the phone, then a few dots of white-out goes on the protector over the camera. Nothing gets through that. I've done that to every iPhone I've had and it works perfectly.

+1 No issues with either FaceID or feel/force touch. It's like not having a protector at all.

+2 beware though - they are HARD to get on right, expect a few lifts and resets to achieve a bubbless installation. It can be done though. I used the white boxed icarez with 3d edges -1 pack.
