I love my mbp. Its the only apple that I think I will actually stay with - because I got it for a great deal!! Pristine and packed with software. Just makes computing more enjoyable.

bought my first Mac ever back in October when Leopard came out. Had a minor screen issue that showed up about 6 months into my use of it, and its been perfect otherwise. Even that issue was resolved so quickly that it hardly counts against my experience.

I love this thing! Its fantastic!

Yeah mine's okay. I'd still rather it was a 12" MBP, but it's performing well enough.

I bought my MBP 2 weeks after they came out. I've had some stuff replaced in it (superdrive, logic board, cpu and fans) but now it runs like a dream.

I just don't have the heart to tell my beloved Powerbook that there is something better and greater out there. That would surely crack it's casing so no MBP for me yet.

:apple:Dal

Was going to give it a :D as I love my MBP. First Mac I ever bought 4 years ago, upgraded a year ago (original was stolen) and will buy another 17" one in a year or so's time.

I have had no problems at all with either of them, except my battery on this one is not doing so well despite careful calibration and optimising for battery life and my general annoyance with a limitation of 3gb of ram. Other than that, it is superb.

I don't normally write about this love as I feel it is all a little disturbing but get one, they are excellent. Best laptop around and I even find windows a pleasure on the damn thing, so something has to be going right.

The thing you have to remember is that this forum is quite possibly the most active help forum for mac users on the internet. This makes it a magnet for every sick, defective, or otherwise flawed mac product ever produced. Meanwhile the vast majority of mac users happily enjoy their purchases without ever having to even create an account for a forum like this. That said I have been VERY satisfied with my macbook pro. It is by far the best computer I have ever owned and Apple's service has always been fast to fix any problems I have had. (Which were few and far between). With the security of applecare i would see no reason not to buy one.

Are there any users in this forum who actually like their MBPs?

I'm a newbie and a switcher, this April, when I bought my MBP. The switch was a belated birthday present and prior to that, I had used Windows for years, mainly because Word was vital for work. I still need to use Word, but I now have it in the Office for Mac package. I had admired the exquisite aesthetics of the Apple products, was impressed by the fact that security is excellent and spam and viruses hardly feature (unlike the world of Windows, where waves of the stuff occur daily), and by the fact that Apple support is traditionally very good. An iPod bought nearly two years earlier had died under warranty and was replaced without any fuss.

My MBP is the best machine I have ever had (prior to that, I have had a solid Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop, and also a decade ago, a lovely, but ancient Olivetti laptop). The MBP has taken a bit of getting used to (as happens with all switchers) but it is a beautiful machine, fast, elegant and powerful and equipped with a splendid screen. As I'm still getting to know it, obviously, there are features which I have not mastered, or, which took me a while to discover (such as locating the "right click" function, and how to make my Dell laser printer and new MBP friends with one another - the staff at the store were invaluable on such matters.)

Good luck.

My MBP is great overall from a design standpoint, seems to be all Apple is capable of as of late. For my music composition programs(Logic Pro 7.2,NI's Reaktor) it just works and for that I am grateful. The versatility factor has become a lifesaver in the last few months, Windows XP has fixed what Apple has so far ignored and gave me a new appreciation for Microsoft as well.

For day to day stuff aka web browsing, typing activities this laptop is a daily headache. My keyboard mistypes so often that I bought an external keyboard to do any serious work, so its no longer a portable computer. The airport issue further adds to this, I constantly drop signals and again have to boot into XP to get real work done.My warranty is out and now the Nvidia GPU issue pops up, hopefully it won't affect me in the end.

I have been an Apple user since the IIe came out and this is the last Apple product for me.

I love mine and I really need the 15.4" screen right now as I am writing my Second Year Report for my Ph.D. I have a 12" PowerBook sat in my apartment, and I am using this MBP and loving every keystroke.

what do you expect people to write.

1. today it turned on without a problem
2. I ran a few apps
3. I saved my work
4. I turned it off

people will generally post on a forum when they have a question on how to fix it.

or they are just looking to bitch somewhere.

people that are happy with their product are posting to either assist others, or busy working, NOT trying to fix it

IF I based my apple purchases on all the horror stories I read on this forum I would never buy anything apple because it seems like they have a 75% failure rate

off all the posts here .. .call them 75% negative -- but what percentage of the entire mac community does that represent?

it's like hanging out in the hospital only ... you'd think the whole world was sick

I love the speed of mine, my previous Mac was a speedy dual 2.0GHz G5 and it's great to have a laptop that's faster than that again. Looks great too.

Downsides: loads of issues. Bulging battery (recalled). Frequent, random shutdowns on battery power. Won't wake from sleep (fixed under 10.5). Woeful battery life. 3 faulty power adaptors, one of which melted through the cable. Video corruption issue which forces me to zap the PRAM frequently.

With a 3rd party wall-to-adaptor power cable, it's now working great. On battery power, it's a paperweight. :(

I've had mine for about 3 weeks now. I absolutely love this thing. I honestly dont think i will buy another Windows machine. This multi-touch pad is the **** :D

2 years now on my 2.16 MBP 17" not a single problem. The best machine I have ever owned. My battery is still at 93% health after 206 cycles. Not shabby.

Doesn't look like we have a lot of replies here..

Wish I could find someone to trade their MBP for my iMac!

I love my MacBook Pro. Greatest computer I've ever owned. And when it's time for a new computer, I plan on getting another one.

i love my mbp. i got it the day the penryns came out and couldnt be happier. so fast and sexy, no complaints
