I'm delighted that it's NOT wider! think about it... this is a PHONE, therefore will spend much of it's life being carried about in trouser pockets... the wider it gets, the worse it'll be, period.
Galaxy S2, in a gel case, is sitting in my jeans pocket right now. I'm laid back on a bed and still have ample breathing space for my testicles.
It doesn't have to get THAT much wider.
I think he was trying to ask if you would be disappointed if it DID turn out that way.

It should be wider, once you use a larger screen you will realize that the current screen size is quite pathetic. Am too tempted to upgrade to an android device just for the additional sq foot area

The whole "it needs to remain the same size in order to fit into my pockets" is such a ridiculously dramatic and desperate argument. I wager that if apple does release a larger device, people will somehow find a way to fit it into their pockets. This is really a non issue.
Ditto for the one hand use argument. Its not that difficult to use a larger device with one hand. Again, I surmise people will see the benefits once apple explains why they've gone with a larger screen/device. Only from apple will people listen.

Honestly, I'm tired of you people who think the iPhone should remain the same size. Are you guys the size of Peter Dinklage from Game of Thrones? Are you a bunch of men who wear skinny jeans that need the room? Are your hands really that much smaller than a South Korean's hand? They're debuting a 4.8 inch phone and people are going to buy it like crazy and you're really worried about extra size?
Come on, guys, are we little women with dainty hands? What's up with this? We're not saying it should be a Samsung Note or even the new Galaxy S3, we're just saying that it needs to be bigger and it will still fit in every hand and pocket the current one is in, unless you have a pocket that is the exact size of the iPhone 4S.....

Yeah, people don't buy Apple trousers with pockets that are custom made to fit the iPhone - clearly if a phone is slightly larger in all dimensions, it won't make a big difference unless people are wearing trousers that are too tight anyway.

I seriously imagine really effeminate men who have trouble sitting down because of their skinny jeans typing away angrily, acting as if a slightly bigger phone will mean they will have to buy a new designer eco-friendly bag from some obscure San Francisco couture shop just to hold their phone in, because otherwise they'd have to buy 20 new pairs of jeans to slip their phone into.
The argument is so ridiculous that it can only be justified if the above were actually what people would go through if the phone got bigger.

Conversely for those of us who use smartphones for what they were designed for, it's not something that just occupies a pocket.
Mine gets used a tremendous amount day in and day out. It's the ultimate way to stay connected, handle email, log onto the company website, etc.

I honestly don't care. I'm perfectly happy with the current size (and still have about 1.5 years left on my contract). I have used phones with bigger screens and they were harder for me to use (I have really small hands). However, whatever size Apple decides to come out with in the next couple of years I'm sure I'll make it work or I'll switch to something else.
Oh and to everyone who keeps saying "if you used a smartphone the way it was suppose to be used" get over yourselves. Everyone has different needs/wants and just because you feel it’s a necessity doesn’t mean it is for everyone else.

Get a grip man have you even try to use the phone in landscape ? Apple have added great options but sadly the screen cant keep up with all the **** they throw in
