Thoughts of the possibilty of the iPhone's screen being longer but not wider?

  • Hey, as long as the screen is diagonally larger, the lack of extra width doesn't bother me.

  • I agree, the screen should be BOTH wider and longer than the current iPhone 4S screen!

  • I just want the screen to stay at 3.5 inches. Anything bigger than that is something I won't use!

You gave a non-answer. A pointless sarcastic one that acted as if I'm saying the longer iPhone is a sure thing rather than what I really posted: a thread about discussion of a certain aspect of what are only journalistic rumors at this point.

 Please. Is it hard to backpedal? I wonder.

I told you I was hardly disappointed. I don't feel disappointed by things that aren't yet realized. Why is that so difficult for you to understand and accept?

I'm delighted that it's NOT wider! think about it... this is a PHONE, therefore will spend much of it's life being carried about in trouser pockets... the wider it gets, the worse it'll be, period.

Galaxy S2, in a gel case, is sitting in my jeans pocket right now. I'm laid back on a bed and still have ample breathing space for my testicles.

It doesn't have to get THAT much wider.

I am not disappointed by the rumors of a lengthened, and not wider iPhone. Now if the phone is actually made this way, perhaps then I'll be disappointed. But not now.

You're missing an option on your poll... Those of us who don't care so much about screen size, but DO care about the phone size. By keeping the length and width close to it's current size, the next phone will still fit easily in pockets and be easily used with one hand.

Honestly the last thing I'm worried about is how it will fit into my pockets, no offense

OP, I see you are at it again. The new iPhone will not be wider, so get over it for pete sakes. ;)

It should be wider, once you use a larger screen you will realize that the current screen size is quite pathetic. Am too tempted to upgrade to an android device just for the additional sq foot area :(

Apple please!

Yeah I may just have to finally dump the iPhone this year if that's the case.

The whole "it needs to remain the same size in order to fit into my pockets" is such a ridiculously dramatic and desperate argument. I wager that if apple does release a larger device, people will somehow find a way to fit it into their pockets. This is really a non issue.

Ditto for the one hand use argument. Its not that difficult to use a larger device with one hand. Again, I surmise people will see the benefits once apple explains why they've gone with a larger screen/device. Only from apple will people listen.

Honestly, I'm tired of you people who think the iPhone should remain the same size. Are you guys the size of Peter Dinklage from Game of Thrones? Are you a bunch of men who wear skinny jeans that need the room? Are your hands really that much smaller than a South Korean's hand? They're debuting a 4.8 inch phone and people are going to buy it like crazy and you're really worried about extra size?

Come on, guys, are we little women with dainty hands? What's up with this? We're not saying it should be a Samsung Note or even the new Galaxy S3, we're just saying that it needs to be bigger and it will still fit in every hand and pocket the current one is in, unless you have a pocket that is the exact size of the iPhone 4S.....

So in other words, everyone should agree with you and want a larger phone or we're a bunch of idiots?

You insult people in nearly every post you've made.

GO AWAY.

Yeah, people don't buy Apple trousers with pockets that are custom made to fit the iPhone - clearly if a phone is slightly larger in all dimensions, it won't make a big difference unless people are wearing trousers that are too tight anyway.

Do it. Why wait? Clearly these "leaked" images from a dubious source is all one needs to form a half baked opinion and about future Apple endeavors.

I seriously imagine really effeminate men who have trouble sitting down because of their skinny jeans typing away angrily, acting as if a slightly bigger phone will mean they will have to buy a new designer eco-friendly bag from some obscure San Francisco couture shop just to hold their phone in, because otherwise they'd have to buy 20 new pairs of jeans to slip their phone into.

The argument is so ridiculous that it can only be justified if the above were actually what people would go through if the phone got bigger.

So will you sew a cargo pocket on your skinny jeans to accomodate your future Galaxy Note? Bigger is better right?

Sounds like a dumb phone would be your perfect companion.

Conversely for those of us who use smartphones for what they were designed for, it's not something that just occupies a pocket.

Mine gets used a tremendous amount day in and day out. It's the ultimate way to stay connected, handle email, log onto the company website, etc. :)

Aside from your thinly disguised gay stereotyping, you do realize that women use iPhones as well, right? Or are you fond of gender stereotypes as well?

I honestly don't care. I'm perfectly happy with the current size (and still have about 1.5 years left on my contract). I have used phones with bigger screens and they were harder for me to use (I have really small hands). However, whatever size Apple decides to come out with in the next couple of years I'm sure I'll make it work or I'll switch to something else.

Oh and to everyone who keeps saying "if you used a smartphone the way it was suppose to be used" get over yourselves. Everyone has different needs/wants and just because you feel it’s a necessity doesn’t mean it is for everyone else.

I still think the current iPhone is the perfect size. Competitors are going bigger as they need to try and promote a new angle to generate sales. It is a shame Apple is becoming the sheep in this regard.

Hahaha i found great the way you state your testicles still have space to breath , and i agree the phone in landscape mode its chit to work with , its all keyboard and statusbar

Get a grip man have you even try to use the phone in landscape ? Apple have added great options but sadly the screen cant keep up with all the **** they throw in

Vote with your wallet.

I'd find it disappointing, perhaps enough to find a phone with dimensions closer to my previous android phones.
