Im not. A bump in the base processor speed, a whopping 512mb vid card, and a SUPER jump in the base hard drive capacity (standard 200gb), and $100 off the original price. I think its a solid update.

That being said, not enough for me to upgrade my MBP. I will hang on to my MBP for an update or 2, then sell mine to get the newer one.
The only downfall of mine is the HD capacity, i wish mine had 200gb :(

Well according to apple, its a NEW MacBook Pro not just an update. So I'm happy.

haha, how can that possibly make you happier that they call it a NEW mbp.

if i waited to buy my mbp i would be so pissed now, but i didn't. so now im laughing.

I just want Apple to come out with a Software Update for the last Gen. Pros to get multi-touch.

Update? Hahaha more like a downgrade... They removed things like the Apple Remote...

true they removed the remote, but i know three people who have owned the remotes for more than a year and they are still wrapped in plastic.
is this a downgrade? -> yes
is it meaningful? -> no

I found myself chuckling at all those people waiting and waiting. Now they are complaining and complaining. :D I have a 2.2ghz Macbook Pro (purchased in Sept.) and I could care less about these new updates. My next computer purchase will be a powerful desktop anyway.

I agree most of them weren't gonna buy anyway, they just wanna join the crowd crying like babies because they just want to hate on Apple.

You guys should have known there would be no new case redesign since these were suppose to come out in January. And its not necessary for a new case redesign for Penryns.

Also I am pissed about the remote cause i want to show presentations and **** to clients. Also the fact that they have a 3MB L2 Cache compared to the 4MB makes me feel unsafe. Technically they upgraded the stuff I don't give a **** in for example the multi touch pad. I rather have more Cache than a touch pad.

I don't care at all. I have a 2.2GHz SR Model I bought earlier this year. This update didn't shock me at all. Just what I expected, nothing earth shattering. I will buy a new MBP when I have a job and can pay for it myself. Or maybe my parents will buy one. Anyway, I have 4GB of RAM, am going to put a WD Scorpio 320GB in this baby soon, put windows on it. I am very happy with mine.

Happy about:
-Penryn Processor
-VRAM upgrade (that was unexpected)
-Increase in standard HD capacity
-That they kept the old case and keyboard (the new one makes the Air look like a toy)

Unhappy about:
-No LED backlight for the standard 17" screen, only the hi-res one got the LED treatment
-Loss of the open-apple key
-No higher-res screen for the 15"

kinda dissapointed but it makes more sense for apple to update when monetvina comes out because that would be the time for a complete overhaul

seriously, we have wanted this update since MacWorld, and we got exactly what we were expecting, are you guys serious about Blu Ray, HD was just dropped last week! most likely we would see it in the Mac Pro before we see it anywhere else as it still is not the commercial standard!

I am not dissapointed, I cant wait to get mine!

i was giggling when i heard about the new specs

pros:

1) MT Track ( im sure they're available on software update soon )

2) bigger HD (but who cares? the SR MBP user can also have 200 gigs of HD anytime they want )

3) mangetic latch ( i gotta admit, i love this upgrade )

cons:

1) it's only a 0.1 Ghz Upgrade where 2.6 is stil a BTO ( i expected 2.6 to be the baseline ), so basically, i dont see any speed booster on the new MBP

you will never barely notice a speed difference with 2.5 and 2.4 at all!!

2) still 8600, with 512, i prefer 256 ddr3 8600

3) No Case redesign, i can see most of the waiting gamers here are waiting for this upgrade, no? :p

4) no Apple Remote? ( though it cost only 20 bucks and prolly most people wont care either, but that's just suck to conclude the Remote)

to sum up everything

this new MBP has been a disappointment regarding how long all the people have been waiting

unless for a people that is an update remorse :D

And some people waited months close to a year for todays update? lol
They will never admit it but im pretty sure a good amount of users are probably scratching their heads and saying "I waited for this sh**"

My 2.2 is still very attractive who cares about multi touch. I dont see how it will play out on my workflow when i edit client pictures etc. BLAH a consumer feature on a pro machine thanks apple for cutting the corners and missing the point of what a pro machine should be.

In Australia, the prices dropped by $200 and the cost of the 200GB 7,200RPM HD upgrade went from ~$400 to just $86.

Now the cost of the top range 15" model with hard drive speed upgrade is$3200 (with educational discount), but was around $3800 just 24 hours ago. So for me, it was effectively $600 cheaper than before and you get double VRAM, 50% more L2 cache and .1GHz more speed.

Ordered mine say 10mins after they were up on the Australian store. Local time was around 2:30am. Yes I am that sad.

<Our prices dropped due to extremely strong exchange rate. Usually its 1 AUD$ = US$.60 -.75 however its AUD$1 = US$.92 at the moment!>

I bought bought that same 2.2 in october. Been very happy with it and been enjoying it for the past 4 1/2 months. Not much of a difference between my machine and the one that just came out. Plus mine came with a FREE $19 dollar remote :p

What's kind of sad is people are already starting to say they are waiting for the "next" revision. i don't think these people will ever buy MBP at that rate.

I'm not disappointed at all. Why? Because I didn't expect anything crazy! I didn't expect Blu-ray, I didn't expect anything but the new trackpad, some more VRAM and very modest battery life gains thanks to 45mm CPU.

So no, I'm quite happy, thank you. :)

1) Apple has already mentioned that the new track pad will not be available via a software update.

2) most laptop owners don't want to lug an external HD around (defeats the purpose) so therefore a bigger HD is a great benefit

3) if gamers are waiting in the Mac line for updates they are waiting in the wrong line. They should probably be over in the Alienware or Falcon Northwest line.

4) Its a remote. A remote should never be a deciding factor in choosing a brand of computer.
