Seems kind of dumb to me. Just like all the stickers and effects and crap in iMessage. It's just too much.
I bet all the teenage kids will love it, or at least those who have parents nice enough to buy them $1,000+ iPhones.

Hahaha. I'm an only Telegram kinda guy. I just turned 32 today so I guess I'm joining the uncool crowd. :) I really hate using 100 different messengers at once. Something most kids today have no problem doing it seems.

Watching the wife use GroupMe, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, iMessage, Snapchat, and a few others I can't remember gives me a headache. lol
Happy Birthday! You just turned 32 and said in the other post you're getting old? I turned 51 over the summer. It's too bad there's no animoji available on this forum because I would send you a howler (shouting monkey emoji) and fling a poop emoji at you for talking like you are old, you young whipper snapper! If you're old, I'm elderly. :D

I like the emoticons on this forum. If I just had this one  and this one  for iMessage, I would be happy. Those two emojis and the poop one are all I really need to cover most of what happens in my day that I want to text about.

I think people are missing the point, it's a cool feature but there's an api behind it that is open that's what they were demonstrating. Hence why they showed Snapchat as part of the same demo. They're opening up the face tracking as part of an API that other developers can tap into. That's why Snapchat can improve their filters and why other AR companies can tap into for whatever other experiences or ideas they can think of as well. That's the point of it. The Animoji is just the gateway into starting a creative thought process into the AR/Depth Sensing API.

You always highlight benefits to the customers in their life over features of a device.

Animoji is a dubious feature at best. There are so many other aspects of the device they could have gotten into.

The hallmark feature of iPhone X is the FaceID. There is only so much you can demo of that on stage. Hence the lengthy demo of Animoji. Because it showcases how well it can track your face and how many data points on your face it uses.

Seriously. Don’t like Animoji? Don’t use it then. The fact that it’s there does not take anything away from the phone, it doesn’t make the phone any less “mature”. It’s literally a bonus feature because it is another function to use the newly added hardware that’s used for unlocking your phone. The fact they are using the front camera/sensors for more than just one and only one function is a good thing. Unlocking/front facing portrait mode/AR from even the front facing camera/Animojis. That’s right off the bat three bonus features because of one other feature, and this is just the beginning.

May as well call Apple Pay stupid too because it’s a secondary function to what TouchID was originally made for. Which was unlocking your phone in a secure manor. A different secondary feature than Animojis but a secondary feature nonetheless.

Yes, more Snapchat filters and Face Emoji features.
Just what I was hoping for :D
That makes up for that high price-tag....

Stop acting as if Animojis where the primary function of the whole front camera module. You’re also acting like Animojis is the only thing the X has to offer.

No, I just think its a completely worthless feature that they overplayed and acted like its a big deal.
Its not.
Dont even get me started on that X thing.
But what do I know?
Maybe their next iPhone will have more Emoji's and start at $1500 so they can build more billion dollar space ship campuses...

Even as a 15 year old, I'm not excited for it at all.
I just have a feeling it makes you look like a fool having to move your face around in the way Apple intends us to in public. Maybe this is just me.

I also think Apple should've spent more time on "real" features. It seems like all we get from Apple keynotes are camera's & emoji features. Apple needs to understand that I'm not going to buy a phone, especially a $1000 phone (oh boy, ESPECIALLY those 4 digit phones) for emoji's.

Just because you don’t like a feature or think it’s worthless doesn’t mean it’s factually/universally worthless to everyone. The world is a very large place and you’re just an extremely small spec of that. There’s a massive demographic out there what would and will enjoy such a feature. (And before you return that with a predictable response, no, that demographic isn’t just kids/teens.)

How in what way could/would a feature like that detract someone from liking everything else the X has to offer? I think you’re just so negative to everything that you can’t see the fact Animoji is a tech demo to hardware used for a new secure method of unlocking your device. It’s a “fun” thing to use that hardware for outside the boring function of just unlocking the device. Tucked away in an area you don’t even have to access if you don’t even use emojis but there for those who do.

Simple, you buy the phone for the best hardware offering Apple has in their latest iPhone lineup. Animojis are just an added feature that uses hardware that was primarily built for unlocking the device. They are not something anyone willing to drop $1000+ down would even consider as a residing factor. It’s the hardware IN the phone itself.

Just another symptom of what's wrong with this world... high priced toys to allow us to entertain ourselves while much of the world goes to bed hungry and without access to clean drinking water... and then whine when someone dares to be critical of that behavior.

Just put down the shovel.

Says one of the many around here who whine and cry about something they have the 100% choice to purchase or not. Don’t like it? Don’t get it. No need to tell others about it. No one has any cheese to offer with your whine.

Complaining about a finished product, scheduled to release does absolutely diddly squat. Apple won’t pull its launch and go back to the drawing board just because a minuscule number of people on an even smaller corner of the internet doesn’t like it.

Im only talking about myself , I dont care what you or others choose to do with their own money. Everything we post in this forum is personal opinion and not Factually/Universal as you say since we're all an extremely small specs and we do not talk for the whole world.
If you enjoy such feature then knock yourself out and go for it.
I vote with my wallet and I dont plan on wasting about $1100-1300 of my hard earned money with sales tax on such an overpriced device because of a poop Emoji FaceID feature and an OLED screen.
If I see the value in a product and its worth its pricetag to me then I will purchase it, if not I will not hand over my money and feel like a scammed sucker.
Enjoy your poop Animoji though :D
