Ps. I love Japan even though I'm in Australia ! :)
Thanks, and agree. I also love to be in Japan. Though its less easy compared to 4 month ago. But seeing how the people manage the multiple disasters let me believe they will come over it very fast. Of course that exclude the government, which doesn't really impressed. Need to stop here, getting too much OT

I've got it already (developer) but won't be upgrading any system because there are a couple of critical programs that aren't compatible yet. I've also got a mini with Snow Leopard Server that I won't be upgrading at all because SLS works fine and Lion Server is a downgrade.

I read in another threat about AFP problems ... Did you experienced some ? I use AFP to link folder into my iMac (w/o TimeMachine). Do I need to expect problems ? My iTunes files are stored this wY on a NAS.

PS: your avatar looks like mine on FB. :D

(chuckle)

Long live the Milwaukee Braves.

Short answer: Yes

I have been using the GM and i grew quite a custom to Lion.

What machine are you running it on?

At $29.99 I dare say that most will buy it. It's too damn cheap not to!! Any news on exactly when the release date will be?? Hope they don't stretch it out until the last day of July...

I didn't notice any. But configuring shares in Lion Server is different and seems to have less flexibility for assigning permissions. SMB shares now use something I don't know rather than Samba (this applies to both client and server lion).

Unless I'm extremely busy on the day it comes out, yes, I will. I plan on doing a clean install on my iMac so it will take more than the usual half an hour.

Yes, but only because I'm running the GM. If I'd known how buggy it was going to be, I would've waited for 10.7.1.

I'll do a quick check and make sure certain apps like Steam, Counter-Strike, Team Fortress 2, Google Chrome, Microsoft Office, Gimp, Minecraft, etc. Will work okay with Lion then upgrade.

I am absolutely not. I have a Macbook White Unibody with 4GB ram. I upgraded to 4gb ram because of the Lion minimum ram requirements. It is slower in my experience on a clean install. Also, I hate Mission Control with a passion. I like full expose instead of it being cramped into a little square in the middle. Also, I am unable to get the gestures how I like them by default in Snow Leopard. Besides this, I am not a big fan of the new black and white UI but that isn't a big deal. Most importantly there are no new features that are compelling in this release. There is no speed enhancements if anything it is slower. So I will not upgrade to Lion until I have to. In theory it could be supported as long as Lion as there are not many internal changes asa Leopard to Snow Leopard. However, Apple will find a way to screw customers like me over so I will probably have to upgrade in 2-3 years time. Until Apple can accomodate users like my who like Snow Leopard, I might not even get another Mac. I refuse to accomodate to them!

Duff-Man says....I'll probably buy it right away and install on my (non-critical secondary computer) Macbook Pro, then later on when I've double and triple checked the compatibility with all the various software packages I use and made sure they work properly in Lion I'll upgrade the Mac Pro - I can easily see that being sometime in the autumn....oh yeah!

Defiantly going to get it the day it comes out. I just wish that they would at least say a date but maybe they're not so then the initially download on their servers isn't as stressed.

How would you do a clean install of lion OSX then? Anyone know yet or have an idea?

Yes, first day installer here!

Very interested in getting some hands on time with Mission Control. I really enjoy spaces and expose, but from the demos I've seen and the things I've read about Mission Control it sounds like a better system.

I'm also very interested in FileVault2. Can't wait to encrypt my MBP!

Burn The dmg for the installer to a DVD or USB and then boot from it. You will need to find the app in finder show package contents and then copy the dmg.

I'll get it Day 1, but not installing until I read some forums for user reports. I need to make sure my programs aren't going to be broken (Parallels, Lightroom, Photoshop for instance). I recently did a fresh install of Snow Leopard so I'll just upgrade to Lion.
