Yes, why not? It's free for me anyway.

Now if only I could figure out the damn upgrade...like how do I prove I bought this computer on July 1st....nobody has ever explained that to me.

I dont want to get it on release, I want to read the posts on here when more people are using it to see if any problems occur in some apps, perhaps wait a couple of weeks

the temptation is very high to get it and try it out at launch though

This will be the first time I am adopting a new OS on day one, but I will be! :)

Looking forward to testing out the new features. If it is bad/buggy, i'll downgrade if I really hate it or wait for 10.7.1 to fix it. :apple:

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_4 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8K2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Most people are a yes

No, I will not get it on the first day. I will wait a week, read this site and others and see the good the bad and the ugly about lion. I do the same with any other software or hardware I'm interested in. I don't buy it first day out. I let others find the problems for me.

Many years ago I was a developer and I still have the arrow holes in my back to prove it.

Yes I will be buying it on the first day. Just installed the GM today and absolutely love it, but I will be purchasing it and clean installing it when it's available.

Most people replying to your thread are "yes" however most Mac owners are almost certainly "no".Most people who buy a computer never upgrade anything!

so people do not upgrade/update their software at some point in owning a computer? i dont think so....

eg. Windows users WON'T Upgrade their anti virus.

That's Preposterous

I don't know, I'm on the fence on this one. I want to, but I still use a lot of PPC programs and haven't found complete intel versions. I have thought to download it (when it comes out) and install it on one of my Jump Drives for testing. I know it might be little slow, but it can't any worse then running SL on a Jump Drive. Still boots fast I can move from APP to APP with out any problems. So it should be the same for 10.7. :)

I've got it already (developer) but won't be upgrading any system because there are a couple of critical programs that aren't compatible yet. I've also got a mini with Snow Leopard Server that I won't be upgrading at all because SLS works fine and Lion Server is a downgrade.

Thank you for that. Just helped me decide what I want to do and I HOPE I can do it before Lion is released.

I'll definitely be upgrading to Lion on the first day! The features are just amazing, and I barely shut down my MacBook Pro because i don't want to lose my Safari windows and tabs (which isn't a good idea), but with Resume i'll be able to shut down but keep my windows on!

That is a very good use of the resume feature! :):):):):):):apple:

I'll stand by what I said. Even for an antivirus, whatever comes on their system will be the one they use for the life of the system. They won't have McAfee and switch to Symantec. It will get updated, but never upgraded. Note that patches are updates, installing new versions (Lion for Snow Leopard, Windows 7 for Vista, Windows 2010/2011 for Windows 2007/2008...) are upgrades.

I'm inclined to agree with you on this based on my observations with friends and family. My gf's laptop is a horror show of a cluttered desktop, literally icons on top of icons on top of icons, updates never run. A friend who's laptop just died, the computer was in terrible shape not just digitally (updates not run) but physically. IMHO non-tech people don't seem to care that much about upgrading or basic maintenance. Not bagging on them, it's just an observation like this xkcd.

I'm not sure of whether or not I'm going to get Lion at all. Mission Control is the deal breaker for me, if they had carried over the Exposé from Leopard then I would upgrade the first day. But Mission Control is pretty bad compared to the Exposé from Lion in my opinion. I'll most likely stick with Snow Leopard for as long as I can, because I can use a hack to get Leopard Exposé back.

Comment deleted, because it no longer represents my current view on subject.

ill probably just wait and mess around a bit at the apple store to see how it is, i dont want to sound cheap but 30.00$ is a lot of money if youre not going to like it, i would rather spend it on a nice dinner  :apple::apple:

I probably won't upgrade on day 1, or the first couple of weeks. I'll wait and see what the reaction is. I'll also see what hardware is introduced. I've got a Late 2007 MacBook at the moment, so one of Lions main features, geastures, wouln't work for me. I'm considering an upgrade machine wise so if the updated hardware is worth my while then I'll probably plump for new hardware which would have Lion preinstalled. Once I've seen whats on offer I'll decide, I wouldn't want to upgrade to Lion if I'm then going to upgrade the computer to a Lion machine anyway.
