I am indeed going to get the new MBP, not because I need it (my 2006 MBP suits me just fine) but because my parents want a laptop. They're gonna take my old Core Duo 15" machine and I'm going to get a new 13" MBP.

I have but one main request for the 13" MBP:

1440x900 resolution

An optical drive and graphics power at least equal to the 320M would be nice, too.

Or you could keep the 15" and give your parents a new 13"...

YES! My G4 PB on it's last breath and if it wasn't for this 09 iMac I would have upgraded a loooooooong time ago. Planning on dualing with a couple of 22's as well and making that my main.

Also I'm looking for an older 13 MBP just a a dedicated Serato laptop for DJing.

I am buying a new 2011 MBP becouse I want to go to starbucks coffee and let other people know " hey look what I have..!?":D
NO WAY JOSE...NO MBP for me unless I see USB 3.0, HDMI, Intel Light Peak... OOOOH this one is good...when I will see a Blu-ray drive...:D

If the 17" mbp gets a true quad core with a nice gpu, I'm definitely jumping onto the 17" band wagon!

Yes!

My August 2006 Macbook Pro is still running ok, but it's definitely overwhelmed a lot of the time, so it's finally upgrade time! I'm so psyched to see what the new line's specs are.

I'll be going for the i7 15" with hi-res glossy display (unless they make 1680x1050 standard) with stock HD and RAM to be upgraded for much cheaper later.

I love this forum but it's making the wait to get a new one even longer but I keep checking every day to see if there is any news. I'm really hoping for the March 1st release rumor.

Also, I'm hoping to get mine in Delaware (I live in NYC) to avoid tax. Does anyone have experience with the local stores having the hi-res models in stock on a regular basis?

If the 17" is really something else I may sell my MBPRO 2008 and my MBAIR 2010 and get it. Would REALLY have to be impressive though.

I will be getting a MBP if it has the following..

13":
Sandy bridge
1440x900 resolution
ATi/nVidia graphics option that's equivalent to the 425m

everything else to me is gravy. If I can slap in my Vertex 2 I have awesome and if there's ODD, fine as long as I can use the caddy I have as well.

If that doesn't work out for me..

15"
Sandy Bridge
1680x1050
Ati/nVidia discrete graphics equivalent to a ATI 6570 or nVidia 540m

and with it being priced at $1600 or less..

If not, I won't bitch and moan about it. I have ultimately decided there are Windows options for me as well with screen res, SB, and graphics options. I just <3 OSX + the trackpad way too much!

No.

My 4 year old MBP is still annoyingly awesome. It runs Windows 7 64 bit, Linux and SL really well, and the damn thing has nothing wrong with it so I can't justify buying a new one. And it still earns it's keep when on the road coding web pages and doing 3D. I wish it was a bit lighter though.

I suspect I'll miss out on the Unibody design altogether since by the time I do buy a new MBP, Unibody Macs will be yesterday's news.

Yes I'm getting one. It will be my first Mac. Still trying to decide between the 13 and 15.

My 2008 machine is starting to show age I have had to replace the battery twice in the last two years(while they claim it to be normal I don't want to shell out 150 again in another year to keep a 3yr old machine running)-I like to run a lot of Vmware and my new EyeTV HD i think would greatly appreciate faster CPU and more RAM. Frankly, I would trade a base model with 15in 6 or 8GB of RAM for the same HD size. I would love to keep it under 2500 base.

Too much to ask?

i would love to grab one but im waiting to see what kinda refresh this is. obviously spec updates are always nice but im really fond of the metal unibody look so i hope they dont change it too drastically

If not, what are the features that would change your mind? lets try to keep it atleast within the realm of possibilities so you cant say "oh it has to have 4gazillion processors and ten thousand gigs of ssd.

For me it would have to be flash storage 128gb standard. Also a core i5 sandy bridge processor with amd graphics. A physical design change where the 13" is a pro/air hybrid would be gravy as well. All this for the 13"

And if yes will you be getting the new pros regardless of what the changes are since more than likely it will still be a fantastic machine?

Honestly since I'm currently in college and money is tight there's not a whole lot Apple could do to convince me to upgrade my late-2009 13" MBP. (specs below) However, I would love to get my fiance one and if they lowered the price to $600-700 I'd get one in a heartbeat even if it was the specs of the current plastic MacBook.

- However, I would like to see SSD come standard and add Blu-Ray. I know it's not Apple's thing but I know a LOT of students on my campus who would beg/borrow/steal to get an Apple laptop with Blu-Ray. I think the demand is out there.

Apple would never price a laptop $600 to $700.

Although I think the 11" mba should be $699.

Apple will not price their laptops at 600-700 dollars like you said.

If you want 11 MBA under 1000 dollars, then there is a refurbished model.

I recently switched from a 17" MBP with a 1 TB drive I installed in it to a 13" MBA with a 128 SSD and 4 GB ram. Frankly, I would not go back if you paid me. I'm saving my pennies for a 512 GB SSD upgrade instead.

Uhhh yea... you are obviously dunno really much about apple...

Blu-ray? You are basically asking apple to give up their sales on itunes and put blu-ray on MBP. So, they can sell less contents. You crazy? Steve will never let this happen.

The demand? Yea right... No. Apple makes money from those itunes and blu-ray will be a direct competitor to their itunes. No No. No.

SSD to come standard? Really? You think apple will be able to get away with just putting 64GB SSD or 128GB SSD on MBP like they did with MBA?

Pro users ask and need more memory than light MBA users. SSD is very expensive. Your best hope is to see small SSD + HDD combo, or apple will just go with HDD again.

You obviously... look at demands, but apple has bigger plans.
