This is one of the things that puzzles me on these forums. Everybody talks about reliability of Mac hardware/software all the time, yet people always mention their 2-3 year old Macs "struggling on their last legs". I am waiting for the macbook pro refresh to do the PC to Mac switch but will my Macbook Pro will be a useless piece of junk in couple of years time? I've been using my Dell Inspiron 6000 for the past 6 years and although it is not the fastest piece of laptop, it is still doing ok and definitely not struggling on its last legs. I'm hoping this to be the case with my Mac as well and use it for at least 5 years...

Nah, man, Macs can last a LONG ass time. A lot of the people (including me) who say that are just ones that want a new macbook because it evolves so quickly they feel left behind, and they say, their macbook is "on its last legs" as an excuse so as to not see/feel wasteful.

Will be getting either the 13" or 15" pro. The main deciding factors for me will be if the new 13" gets sandy bridge and dedicated graphics. Otherwise I might consider getting a low end 15".

Depends on the GPU for me. I probably shouldn't get my hopes up on that though. :(

Definately

My Black MacBook was recently involved in an accident so I need to replace it.
Hoping for some USB 3.0 support
Better CPU speeds on the lower 15" models as its currently the same as my old Macbook was.

If not, what are the features that would change your mind? lets try to keep it atleast within the realm of possibilities so you cant say "oh it has to have 4gazillion processors and ten thousand gigs of ssd.

For me it would have to be flash storage 128gb standard. Also a core i5 sandy bridge processor with amd graphics. A physical design change where the 13" is a pro/air hybrid would be gravy as well. All this for the 13"

And if yes will you be getting the new pros regardless of what the changes are since more than likely it will still be a fantastic machine?

Yes, I will get the new 13" MBP. My hope is that it will have the same keyboard as the latest version of the MBP. If they change it so I don't feel comfortable writing on it I will most likely get the 2010 13" MBP.

No. I fully expect to still be using my mid 2010 for at least the next 2-3 years.
It`s already overpowered for what I currently do really so I feel no need to upgrade.

I am waiting for quad core mbp.

Also, I want mbp to boot up just as fast as MBA. I need apple to go flash storage, completely. I would ask for 256 gb ssd or 512 ssd. I want allo this at around 1799-1999 dollars. Probably not in this update, but soon. My 2010 MBA and mbp work fine as They are now.

13" - If it has the option for a high-res matte screen, I might stay down low.

15" - If the i5 comes quad, I might jump up.

I'm getting rid of my 11.6 MBA and getting a new 15 MBP AG when it comes out. This why I have more power on the go, mainly to play Starcraft 2. This way I can get the iPad 2 and a 15 MBP rather than an iPad 2 and 11.6 MBA.

Yes, sold my 4 month old 13" MBA this week so got my money sorted. Just gotta decide which size. I think it will be 17" but waiting to see what gets released.

Good times :)

Day one buy for me, assuming they lose the optical drive. If it's still there, I might wait a few weeks to see what the situation with RipLock on the drives is.

Yes, I will be getting the 13" MPB on day-one because I need a powerful-yet-mobile solution for work (I travel a lot).

My wish list for the new 13" MBP is: i5 processor, matte screen 1440x900 res and decent GPU. If that becomes a reality, I will buy on launch day...

I will probably sell my current i5 iMac 27" and simply plug an external monitor to the new 13" to get the best of both worlds: a powerhouse while on the desk plus a portable lappy on the go :) That's the perfect setup IMO.

I am not sure what everyone is referring decent GPU on 13 inch MBP for...

It's getting intel GPU and it will be as equivalent as Nvidia 9400M GPU that was used in 2009. If that's decent GPU for you, then feel free. But, I don't understand why people are asking sandy bridge processor with intel GPU instead of core 2 DUO with nvidia GPU.

We will see how they compare and what kind of improvement you will see in video editing, gaming and etc.

Intel GPU is not a decent GPU.

Been waiting for past 6 months. So, yes! I'm getting it.

My 4 year old Macbook is doing fine. So, probably don't 'need' it, but 'WANT' it. Maybe with the new MBP, I will use Lightroom or Aperture more. Hopefully there's a massive improvement there.

I have a 2007 15" MBP and I'd really like to get a new one. It will really depend on the specs. I would like to have a SSD as the primary drive as I currently have an SSD and HD in my MBP and wouldn't want to go backwards in terms of loading speeds.

i have one in my closet, that was a beast and built like a tank

almost any computer will last for years. the big thing the last 2 years has been HD video on youtube and the internet and that requires some CPU power
