I retired Feb 1, 2008 and have not had a watch on since. Swore I'd never wear a watch again. The AW is giving me pause to reconsider but have not made the decision yet.

Guess I'll just have to check it out when the time comes.

I'd like to see them in person first, but from what I heard, I'll get one of two models but it comes down to price. Either the 42mm Sport editon in Space Gray with the black band or 42mm Stainless Steel in Space Black and link band.

If you're asking whether I'm going to buy a watch: Maybe someday, but not a smart one. I already have a couple of watches I really like, but if I feel like I want a small collection, I'll buy a Casio calculator watch.

My friend got the Motorola watch. First of all, it doesn't look nearly as good in person as in the pictures. Secondly, it isn't all that useful, and it has more features than what Apple's watch probably will have.

I'm very interested but doubt it, at least for the first gen. I'm interested in the health and fitness portion of it. With the heavily rumored poor battery life it's going to make sleep analysis difficult if not impossible. I have serious doubts about active heartbeat reading being reliable, not sure the tech itself is there yet. I'm currently using an UP24 which I'm pretty happy with. I use bluetooth a heart rate monitor while working out. I'll be getting either an UP3 or Apple Watch next yet.

Like what?

Besides the really basic features, it can run apps made for it, you can set the watch face to any image, it has a web browser, and it has whatever the latest knockoff of Siri is. Knowing how Apple has treated first versions of their hardware in the past (e.g. iPhone not recording video), their watch is probably going to be missing one or more of these features.

Google is your friend.

Google is your friend.

Sorry, I forgot that the Apple watch does already have an API for developers. But I also forgot and verified now that the Moto 360, unlike the Apple watch, has wireless charging.

Unless you were referring to me not knowing what the voice assistant is called... I say "the latest knockoff of Siri" because it'll probably change over time but still be supported on older hardware. Apple keeps Siri married to the hardware.

I was pretty much referring to the entirety of the post.

As you said: both Android Wear & Apple Watch OS support apps...
Also, both support adding any background you like, also both support a Voice assistant. Also, the web browser on Android Wear is a 3rd party app, NOT Chrome. Similarly, even if Safari sensibly follows Google's lead here and is not on Apple Watch, there will undoubtedly be a 3rd party browser.
I didn't feel like typing this all out, b/c.... as my response intimated, this is readily available knowledge. I'd encourage research prior to posting.

Edit:
With regards to your "new" info of Moto 360 having wireless charging. How is laying a watch on a mat that has to be plugged in significantly different than having to lay one on a magsafe that has to be plugged in??

Watch faces from what I have seen look lot better on the apple watch and more customisable IMO. Apps for Apple watch are also coming from what I understand (not rushing is one thing I love about Apple) Also Apple watch does run Siri and also Apple Pay. Not sure if moto does support Google pay though. Build quality and design of Apple watch leaves moto far behind IMO (sapphire glass, stainless steel, great wristbands etc)
Personally I could not imagine in my wildest dream getting the moto 360 over the Apple watch.

I guess it depends on if you consider "You won't be able to use any of your own watch faces, only the ones Apple says you can use"

As being, "More Customisable"

I suppose :D

I've been saying from day 1. I want someone, Apple or someone else, to make a watch face designer app, where anyone can select any image for the face, and the hands etc etc, so everyone can, if they want have their own individual custom watch face that's special just to them, so they don't feel like just part of the crowd.

I fear Apple is not going to Allow this.

There is a vast and growing selection of watch faces for Android wear, that I fear Apple Watch users won't get the ability to have.

More customisable in a sense that you can add things/change colours etc to the watch face. And also I find the animated face watches on the Apple watch quite cool. App face designer I guess won't be far on the Apple watch, though people adding any kind of images on the Apple watch is not something Apple would be too keen, crazy but this is Apple. Just look at some "ugly" themes people add to iPhone's after jail-breaking. I know people should be allowed to do whatever the f they want if they pay for the device, but then again manufactures could also make their products as locked as they want and you have the right to disagree with them by not buying their product. There is always other options to suite individuals.

Well, we have talked about this before.

I think Apple will not allow you to create your own watch faces.
And if anyone dare make a watch face designer kit app, Apple would block it.
Apple will either right away, or in time allow devs to make watch faces, send them to Apple for official approval, and if Apple likes them, then allow you to buy them.

I think that is as far as it will go. So if you want to have more control over that than just buying Apple approved faces, then you are going to have to go over to an Android Wear device.

This is the kind of thing I worry Apple will never allow on their product:

I do so very much hope I'm wrong, and now Steve Jobs is out of the way, Apple will have changed, and such an App will be allowed by Apple for their watch.

I have never been one to wear a watch, as I do not find them comfortable and I tend to forget them when I am amidst getting ready to leave for the day.

I AM, however, curious about this device and will definitely be interested in seeing it in person. Looking forward to playing with a display unit at the Apple store.

I will not be getting one of these for the foreseeable future though. As I previously said, I am not one to wear a watch, and I do not see that changing about me.

Even so, given that this has to be connected to your iPhone as a companion piece, with the iPhone constantly pushing data to it, I see this thing taxing the iPhone battery quite a bit. Not necessarily concerned with the battery in the watch itself, but rather what the watch will do to the battery life in the iPhone.

I'm also way too tentative about buying any first generation hardware/devices. I feel like first generation hardware is Apple's way of testing the waters, to see if the product is going to work and if there is going to be a demand for it or not. If there is, then they know they can take it seriously and look to make investments and improvements in the next generation. If there's not a demand for it, then Apple could quietly kill off the product line and move onto something else.

But it seems that Apple waits until that point before they make a full investment in the product. Look at the first iPhone, it was Apple's first foray into the mobile phone market. While the iPhone obviously broke lots of new ground for the smartphone market, it was extremely limited in terms of functionality. But since there was a demand for it, Apple took it seriously and continued making improvements on it each year. Same goes for the iPad, and I have a feeling the same will end up going for the watch.
