Have a couple sets of B&O headphones. Using the Dongle on my 7+ you can (I can) tell the difference.
Still, I did get a higher end BT set.

Now the 8 or X may be different but I doubt it.

You probably can't tell a difference on any of those headphones, because if we're being honest, they're kind of not the most incredible headphones you could be using. But even on a pair of lackluster beats headphones I got for free when buying an iPad, you can definitely hear a difference. It sounds slightly like the sound is coming out of a tin can. Not awful, but it is definitely noticeable.

Count me as another person that doesn't get excited for the new iPhone, annually. I used to purchase with every new phone until the 6, which I held onto until it finally "died" halfway between the launch of the 7 and the X. I'll keep the 7 until it doesn't function well anymore, as well. I wasn't even very excited when I got the 7 2.5 years after having the 6. I'm guessing it's the product of getting older, married, having children and starting a business.

I may be in the severe minority but I only got excited about the SE and now possibly the SE 2.

Had the 3GS. Had the next gen iPhone 4, which was a beast of an upgrade over the 3GS. Now having the iPhone 8 makes me feel like I have come full circle, minus the squared off design. I still have a thing for the smaller iPhone 5 SE, but realistically going to wait for SE2’s debut, that’s the release I am really excited about.

I think of all the products to be launched in 2018, the iPhone SE 2 too will be the most interesting to see if it actually does see an update, and if it does see an update, what changes does Apple make and with what price point? Time will tell.

I don't expect mind blown features, but come on, let us customise. The grid has become stale, it in need of a change. Generally things change or upgrade after 10 years. But not ios. It's the os people are interested in, not hardware.

I agree that it comes down to IOS in the user experience. Hardware is always enticing at first, but it does wear off after a while. I think that's why others are so drawn into iOS, because of how fluid and intuitive it can be.

I think what matters now is how efficient the OS can be. We are running close to limits on silicone.

I'm not.. Mainly because I purchased the X and 1K was quite a bit to spend on a phone. Love the X and do not see anything they can do to the next version that would entice me or excite me to buy another. The 2019's? Maybe but I am expecting at least 2-3 years from the X before I get excited again..

Not as excited as a I typically am, but I am sure that'll change once we have details about the new phone. I upgrade every year so I appreciate the improvements every year. No better platform for me.

No. I haven't been excited about a new iPhone since probably the 4S. Apple/Samsung/Google/etc haven't done anything innovative when it comes to smartphones in years. Smartphones are just commodity items now. They peaked years ago.

The only thing that might get me excited about a new phone is a quality phone at low price. There's no reason to be charging anywhere close to iPhone 8/X prices anymore. There's nothing innovative about them.

Things that would make the new phone a must buy:

    Band 71
    New battery tech
    4x4 mimo
    5G

Most of these are years away, so I think I’ll keep my 8+ until at least one of them are implemented.

Pretty excited this year. I bought the 8 plus last year and kinda wish I picked the X instead. Still feel waiting a year so more apps have time to update for the X screen was the smarter choice though. Having bought the 6, 7 plus and 8 plus it was the safer more boring phone for me. Choosing the new 5.8 inch this year.

Not anymore, I think I've posted on every one of these type of topics so I'm sure people are sick of me saying this.. until Apple gets serious about software I just can't purchase any additional hardware such as an ipad or iphone from them. They need to step up big time and add much missed features in their OS's across the board. Not trying to sound negative here.. I love Apple products but 1k a phone.. 800 ipads.. come on now.. I can do so much more via my 1300 macbook pro and the cost difference is minimal at that point. I'm still confident they can impress me and other power users with new features other then animoji's. ahh!

Just can't see a yearly purchase from me anymore. It's going to be a 2-3 year wait from now on if at all as the hardware doesn't exactly change enough to warrant such purchases. But to each his own.. I know I'll still find a way into WWDC as always.. will still watch all keynotes either from my computer screen or at the events.. It's a part of my life, I don't see going away, but I can be realistic these days and just say.. you know that new phone is cool but it really isn't much different from what I have, lets wait a year or two before another purchase. Again.. until software changes occur, then I will definitely sing a different tune.

Not really, the X is already too big for me so a 6.1 and 6.5 is crazy. My only hope is the SE2 but I don't expect so much.

I'm in love with my iphone X. I won't be upgrading because I will still owe quite a bit on this phone when the new ones come out. I am not going to turn over this phone and pretty much be just like leasing it and start all over. I will wait till it is paid off and I can keep this one. Many times the iphones seem so much just like the next one and the iphone X is the first one that is different. Not sure why I would need to get another iphone X type when there is nothing wrong with the one I have.

It’s still too early yet to determine what Apple has in store for the 2018 iPhone models. It really depends what features and hardware changes they make that entides the customer. Think the primary focus this year will be the larger 6.5 X Plus that will offer any major differences, but the 5.8 X will largely remain the same. I Would not expect any drastic hardware changes either, aside from the addition of the 6.1 LCD iPhone X being rumored as well.
