I'm not disagreeing with you, but Apple never mentions the ram, so I don't think we'll know right off the bat whether it has 1 or 2GB of ram.
And I'm not sure 2 GM of ram will be necessary. I hope they do it, but let's not pretend it's somehow required on the device.

I don't disagree, it was long over due in the first place and it will be a big step back if they didn't provide 2GB of ram.

Well the iPad Mini 4 had an A8 with 2GB RAM so I really don't see any excuse for less.

I certainly will be unlikely to go for it if it comes with 1GB RAM. My Air 2 runs fine but I've heard so many complaints about iOS devices with 1GB RAM because Safari tabs reload constantly.

Yeah the new A8 chip they use in Mini 4 and Apple TV 4 have 2GB of RAM so there is no way they go back to the "old" A8 chip with 1GB of RAM, assuming it will have the A8 chip of course, it could have the lastest A9 chip.

About the 2GB of RAM, it's a game changer to me, since I have my iPhone 6s I almost stopped using my iPad Air 1 (except for note taking at school) because the overall speed and experience is so much better on my iPhone. And I didn't even updated my iPad to iOS 9 which make it a lot slower.

Coming from an iPad Air 2, yeah you'll definitely notice (if they put the "old" A8) the constant tabs reloading in Safari and in every apps caused by only 1GB of RAM.

As a long time Android fan I think I'll be switching to a 64GB iPhone 5SE. I love the customisability, flexibility and simplicity of Android. Why would I switch? Three reasons;

1) I have an iPad Air 2 that I bought last October and I am getting really annoyed by the fact that there is zero syncing between my devices. Any notification will appear as unread on the iPad even if I've already checked it out on the Android phone and vice versa.

2) I can't use any Android phone, not even my current Sony Z5 Compact, one-handed. I love the feel of my brother's iPhone 5S in my hand. It's a really good fit. I have small hands.

3) My brother has pretty much decided he's sticking to iPhone and going with the iPhone 6S once his contract expires in April. It'd be cool to iMessage and FaceTime him on my phone as well as the tablet.

What are your reasons for wanting to go with the 5SE? Which storage capacity and colour option would you go for? :)

No. It's far too small. I've been using phablets since 2012 and I'm not about to stop anytime soon.

My nieces have a 5S that they got for Christmas and using their device I can't believe just how small they are. I'll be sticking with the 6S, which IMO is the perfect size for me.

I have a 6 for personal use and a 5s given to me by my employer for work use only. I do like the 5s size quite a bit, although I'm most likely going to ride out the 6 for two years and then upgrade to the 7.

I think the 5se will be great. I'm sure you'll love it, and it will work great in tandem with the iPad!

I definitely am. I have a 6 plus and its just big, no if ands or buts about it. I bought a 5s for my daughter and found it so much more holdable and functional. True in some tasks the 6 plus is a superior phone, i.e., watching videos, but for the most part I found the smaller form factor to be more appealing to me.

I went from a 5S to a 6S+ when they came out and I absolutely love it. My husband has a 6S and when I have to use it I'm very annoyed by it's smaller size. I can't imagine going back to something even smaller!

I used to watch loads of videos on my phone but now that I recently bought an iPad as well as a new Fire TV box for my new 40" TV I've found myself wanting a truly one-handed phone again.

Switch phone with your daughter - problem solved.

Depends on the final spec sheet etc of it, I have a 6S currently so unless it really tickles my fancy I'll probably stay put for now. I am glad they are making a smaller option though, I can see seriously considering it, the 5S is perfect for one hand use.

This is the most excited I have been for a new iphone in a while. I love the smaller form factor. Every single time hold a 5S, I miss the hell out of that phone. I am currently using a 6S and would straight up trade someone for a 5SE. I only use my phone for text, email, light web browsing, mobile banking (occasionally) and facebook.

I do hope it has force touch (i mean 3d touch). While I do not use it a ton, it has become my go to for multitasking instead of the double tap.

Im not, 6S works great for me. My gf on the other hand loves her ip5 and its size, so she will definetily get it.

Still not decided if I will go for a 6S or a 5SE - It likely depends on wether the latter has A9, 2GB RAM, NFC and TouchID. If yes, that will likely be the one, otherwise no way I'll buy last years technology (Maybe 4 years ago for RAM!) in a $$$$$$$ phone.

Edit: And in either case, 64GB Space Grey.

I was. But I just got a used 6 to hold me over till some else I really want comes out. It seems WAY smaller than I thought it would be. I love it perfect size for me. I was amped up for the 4" phone but I think it will be a little smaller than what I would want. Still love the idea.

Count me in. I'm still using a 4s, and have no interest in anything larger than a 4" screen. I'll likely be picking up the new phone, whatever it's called, as soon as they're available.
