Sadly, yes.
Typical meaningless 'first world problem' right here.

My Android phone* hasn't recieved an update beyond Android 4.4.4, the Wi-Fi reciever can't see the 5GHz band, it has problems with bluetooth, and the battery life isn't great.

But, I don't exchange it because IT WORKS.

But somehow, these people want to exchange their iPhones, because the Samsung chip doesn't last as long on battery as the TSMC chip?! SUCH CHILDISH WHINING!

*Before you whine about me mentioning Android on this forum, I already had one iOS device, and I needed a phone.

Using cheap android phone of course has another attitude comparing to "seek for perfect" iphone users.

That's actually not what they said. That is what you wanted to hear. Go back and read it again.

“Our testing and customer data show the actual battery life of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, even taking into account variable component differences, vary within just 2-3% of each other.”

So that says nothing about battery life?

Sadly, yes.

For the price I paid for an iPhone I WANT it perfect, did I get a 3% discount when I bought the phone? No! I had to pay the same amount as those with a TSMC chip.

That's what I say when people ask me what am I gonna do if I get a Samsung chip.

But it's just a tiny difference in the battery life, something that doesn't really matter. Something that SHOULDN'T matter.
I don't whine about trivialities, even with something expensive.

I deal with the cards I am dealt, and make the best of them I can.
I learned real quick that whining every time something wasn't perfect wouldn't achieve anything.

I don't even know my chipset but I'm keeping it because I refuse to give my info to a third party bogus app.

Apple has released a statement acknowledging a 2-3% increase in battery life with the TSMC chip.

Where have you seen this. I saw their statement to Ars technica saying there could be a 2-3% variance between devices. I didn't read anywhere in the statement naming process manufacturers of about advantages of one versus the other.
I do not which chip is in my 6s.

It would be a waste of time making a trip over to the apple store just to exchange for the chip. I'd say if there is nothing wrong with the phone, just use it. If you encounter an issue and you passed the return window, set up a genius appointment and get it replaced.

Once again, you are not reading what I'm saying. You are reading what you want to hear. Yes, it obviously is talking about battery life, as that is the same conversation everyone is having.

They are simply saying that between phones, the customer data is telling them that no matter what the components, the variance is only 2-3%. And I believe that is the only metric Apple cares about. They care about real world use, because well, they sell phones to the real world. They are also saying that this benchmark doesn't measure real world battery performance.

For the price I paid for an iPhone I WANT it perfect, did I get a 3% discount when I bought the phone? No! I had to pay the same amount as those with a TSMC chip.

Go get your perfect iPhone. Be warned though, you might be returning a lot of phones. Oh, and you might want to do it today, if you got it on launch day.

If you got it from Tmobile you got a $126 discount...

Aside from that, have you read your comment? You're whining over 3% of battery life. It must be nice to not have other problems in life so you have time to deal with standing line to exchange a phone over 3%.

I did exchange mine. I had a samsung, now I have a TSMC. Both my wife and I had 6s+'s, originally hers was a TSMC and mine samsung. I did my own testing and there was much more than a 2-3% difference as apple claims. The Samsung definitely ate battery much faster than the TSMC one did. I saw a problem I didn't like and solved it, if you don't care then don't worry about it. However, don't have blind faith in what apple says, they have an agenda that is not the same as the consumer.

As with everything in life, to each their own.

Yes we should all return until we get the chip we want. Apple should allow people to open up the phones to check before leaving the store. This is an outrage!

So which chip is the one that we want guys?

I don't intend to exchange mine for this, nor do I intend to spend money to buy an app to determine my CPU... I don't know which I have. If there is a free app in the app store that will tell you, I'd do that.

My prediction is that this ends up being a class action suit against Apple where everyone with the Samsung chip gets some ridiculous settlement of just enough for a trip to Starbucks, while lawyers make millions.... with a big IF. Unlike "bend gate" and "antenna gate", this issue with the CPUs is measurable and quantifiable. IF Apple used the better chip in all their marketing material to tout battery life, and IF it is measurable that some of their phones are not meeting that criteria because of an inferior designed component, then there is probably a case there. IF Apple used the worse chip for their measurements, then there is no complaint. The issue is whether or not they mislead anyone with their advertising and then did a bait and switch. Lawyers can have a field day if they did, and this is easily measurable.

Right on macrumors

Samsung 6S here. Getting 7+ hours screen on battery life, smooth performance. Keeping mine.

It doesn't matter, I paid a pretty big lump sum to have the newest and greatest! Not to have a 2-3% less than someone who paid the same price I did!

This is why we Apple users are called "sheep" as soon as Apple releases a statement people bow down and say yes Apple, I am sorry I went against you Apple.

Not me as I said I paid a premium to have the best out there not a 2-3% difference in performance!

I called Apple a little bit ago and spoke to a senior rep named Renee, and told her she has 2 choices (bluntly) either I get my phone exchanged or I get something for free, worth about $40 as that would have been the 3% difference in price compared to what I paid versus the TSMC chip. She told me she was in aware of the issue and couldn't find apples "statement" anywhere on her system. I told her if she didn't comply I was going to the local Apple Store at the busiest time of day and making a "huge"scene I don't care if I looked like an idiot, I'd do pretty much anything for 1,200.00 Canadian dollars.

She complied and issued me a replacement

And for those who claim "it's so small of a difference" don't worry about it idiot. That's how it starts keep giving Apple an inch and they will eventually take a mile. They got away with bendgate (cause the issued a statement, and Apple users bowed down to the master) they are trying to do the same thing with "chipgate" almost like purposely seeing how much the "sheep" will take before they have had enough.

I didn't get any discount here in Canada.

Seems a bit far....

I called Apple and talked to them and they happily told me they will make sure i get a brand new phone when I go into the store when I said im not happy with battery life

Did you ask to try the phone at the store to be sure or did you take a change and looked it up at home?

i honestly don't think it was too far, I told it like it was/going to happen. If I didn't want the newest and greatest phone I would have waited 1-2 years to get the 6s/+ and it helps that I don't wear Apple "blinders" :)

Remember last year Apple said iphone 6 is hard to bend, no problem with the phone body, just around 10 people in the world report having bend related problem? Ha ha...
Only 9 people had bend issues.

I don't even know my chipset but I'm keeping it because I refuse to give my info to a third party bogus app.
It's all right there in your logs. See my signature. No apps needed, no $, no downloads.

Support you in that.

I have to admit that I'd be looking at my options had I won the Samsung lottery, too.

On a side note, who here thinks Apple will secretly fix the battery performance gap between the two in future productions?
