I'm not happy with the battery life of my iPhone 6s Plus with Samsung chip. But after reading everything here I decided that I must be imagining things and that the truth is my phone is fine. The way I use it and how i always carry a back up battery anyway the lack of longer battery life shouldn't bother me. My phone has no lag, minimal pressure point issue, screen is bright and not too yellowish, I should be happy already instead of fussing about the battery life. I don't want to play the iPhone lottery game which may end up having a phone with all the other problems instead.

Sucks to be you guys. I got a blazing fast iPhone 5 here. No pressurepointgate no chipgate, my usage of the phone lasts 2 solid days from 1 charge.

Enjoy your slow, more costly than an imac, phones

Scuffgate?

Did the 5s have anything? I don't recall.

Slow? This is the fastest iPhone I've owned and it leaves my previous 6 far far behind! And my 5 well that was dead and buried a long time ago...

Looks like Tim got the TSMC chip in his 6s

I can guarantee that your iPhone 5 is nowhere the speed of any iPhone 6/6S/Plus. Not even in the same ballpark.

Well, my wife is a doctor and she says she's pretty sure a diagnosis of OCD does not render someone incapable of not "making a "huge" scene" when they don't get their way. Sorry you have OCD, but it doesn't excuse threats and tantrums.

Also, it's kinda funny that someone who is admittedly a little fanatical about these kinds of things, which I get, hasn't mentioned 2.5 hours less battery life until now. In fact, the only previous mention you made about battery life before hearing Apple's statement was...

Finally, comparing slight iPhone chip differences to a notebook GPU that flat out dies is a little extreme...but extreme seems to be your MO.
I didn't make a huge scene yes I threatened it to get my point across that I was frustrated with having the "inferior" chip, what rich pricks like you don't understand is I saved for the 6s to get a top of the line model not to get 3% percent less, it's the thought.

I wasn't comparing the GPU to the iPhone I was comparing the small amount of people whom filed petition after petition making Apple acknowledge the problem and fix it.

I haven't mentioned the 2.5hr battery life drain as I upgraded to 9.1 beta 4 a few days ago hoping it would fix the issue (and apparently I have to wait for indexing etc to finish before I judge battery life) you should be the first to know this as you've gone through my previous posts

I am not the only one frustrated with the 3% less.

So, did you exchange? I haven't read through all the posts. Thanks

You must not use your iPhone that much, because my son and daughter both have the 5S and have to charge them every night. Also, their 5S's are no where near as fast as my iPhone 6 Plus, which btw, does go a full 2 days even with heavy usage.

Has anyone run the same "test" with two phones using the same chip manufacturer?

I wonder if folks know there can be variances between hardware made by the same manufacturer. Wouldn't it be fun to exchange phone after phone just to end up trading a "good" Samsung specimen for a "poor" TSMC specimen? LOL!

I do have Samsung chip powering my 6s but I will definitely keep it.
As someone mentioned above you can never be sure what chip you get if you return it and (even more important!) what other 'glitch' the replacement iPhone might have. In the end you will end up exchanging and exchanging to get some extra % at the end of the day.
....

I can't believe that Apple allows for unlimited returns. Best Buy and Amazon will blacklist you after a certain amount of returns (whatever they deem excessive).

Why not replace the 6S (whether is has a TSMC or Samsung chip or not) for the Galaxy S6? The S6 is the better phone of the two. Like seriously. I had the 6 until a couple of days ago and sold it for the S6. Never been happier with a phone!

The 6 and 6S have cameras that are pathetic in low / medium light, doesn't come close to the S6. They're comparable at speed and fluidity, you get a much better display with much higher resolution on the Galaxy, you have OIS on the S6 which the 6S lacks, you get 16GB on the base model which costs hundreds of dollars more than the 32GB Galaxy S6. All because of Apple wanting to milk out as much as money as possible from their customers, so they're cheaping out on stuff to produce it. Also you don't have to deal with iTunes for transferring songs. You can even play YouTube videos and send Whatsapp messages at the same time on the S6, or multitask with other apps like browser or email etc. at the same time with Multi Window. What's nice too is that the S6 has adaptive fast charging, which means you can charge your phone from 0 to 100% in one hour. ONE HOUR guys!

Now that I left Apple I understand how strong the brand name is of Apple. They can give their customers the feeling that they're having the superior product, while in reality it's quite the opposite of that.

Meh. I really like android and it's great for a lot of things. But at least on the galaxy and htc ones I owned:

My battery started draining quickly at times
Phone got slower over time, was very fast at first
Ads in my notification bar occasionally, yikes!
Carrier branding and apps on my phone!!
Broke screen and had to ship it away and no phone for over a week!! Last time broke iPhone in and out of Apple Store in 30 min
Majority of family and friends on iPhone (imessage, FaceTime)
New versions of Android came out and I couldn't upgrade easily- upgrades had to be approved by carrier and manufacturer, if at all, months later
App quality lower than iOS

Resale value doesn't hold up compared to iPhone even if it's more expensive. Easier to sell as well. Sold my 6+ for $600, after the 6S was already out.

Anyway, like I said still really like androId and still have my htc one. Couldn't sell for enough to make it worth it. Love the customization and sharp screens of some of the flagships. But I want my phone to just work, well, out of the box. I flashed roms and customized in the honeymoon period with my android phones and after a while stopped and started just using my phone.

Fair enough, but I feel like threads already existed in the forums about Samsung being better than TSMC and then going back the other way before that "article" was posted.
I am talking about this thread, in particular. The vitriol is necessary, regardless of when and where this was announced.

If there's a gate to be named it should be "batterygate". The Samsung chip is as good if not slightly better based on benchmarks than the TSMC.. it's just bit more power hungry and that can add up after hours of use. So is the chip to blame, or the battery capacity it's stuck with? I say battery.

I had the Samsung chip in my 6S and now the TSMC chip in the 6S+. The only issue I had with the 6S is that it didn't deliver the battery performance I was expecting. I've actually experienced some lag and slight freezing with the 6S+, probably due more to iOS than the TSMC chip itself (and it seems to have improved now), but everything was snappy and smooth on my 6S with the Samsung A9.

That headline was jumping the gun before all the facts were in. It's nowhere near as big a difference ( if any in the real world) as they would have had you believe.
Of course not. I am just saying people are talking smack and being rude in the thread. That is uncalled for. The new article jumped the gun. Can;t really ridicule people for being misinformed when it WAS a news article though.
