Only vote if you purchased one. With all the controversy, would love to get past the noise and see what people are are thinking with their actual machines! I have one coming tonight, I’ll vote in a few days… Cheers
This is what I did today, currently testing bothNow I am not sure. With the amazon price on a 16gb/1tb mb pro, I’m thinking of returning and getting that. My m2 config is midnight 16gb/512. It seems almost a no brained with the amazon deal.

I assume the one on the right is the MBP? Those black levels and backlight uniformity alone would be worth the upgrade for me.This is what I did today, currently testing both![]()
My macbook is great! If you already have the M1 Air just return the M2 Air. It's not that of a speed bump.just setup the new m2 air and the SPEAKERS have a slight rattle at loud volumes.
funny enough, my m1 air had a similar thing happening and I just had apple care fix it.
the m2 is going back! ****. now need to decide if it's worth the energy to try this again...
Exactly. Same as my experience on my new unit. Much preferred over my M1 MBA, which I’m giving to one of my kids.I'm very happy with mine. I'm really trying to think of something negative about it but I can't. Maybe more granular control with the keyboard backlight? I tried to get it dimmer and the choice right before it turned off seemed too bright in a dimly lit room. I mean that's the only thing that came to mind. I've played WoW classic on it and it works great getting 60 FPS at the classic graphics setting. I've watched lots of YouTube videos and the picture quality and sound is great. In full screen the notch isn't in the way of the videos. No fan noise whatsoever!
I got silver because I heard black was a fingerprint magnet and I've always loved the classic look of silver MacBooks. I would reccomend this to anyone who is using it for general computing. If you're heavy into gaming get a PC and for video editing get the 14" Pro.
Yes indeed.. there's a slightly difference and you can notice but obviously when you are playing a test video like that and they are next to each other. Is difficult when we are talking about exactly the same price for both.I assume the one on the right is the MBP? Those black levels and backlight uniformity alone would be worth the upgrade for me.
The MBP seems like a much better option than a specced up Air, unless you absolutely want lighter. Now I am not sure. With the amazon price on a 16gb/1tb mb pro, I’m thinking of returning and getting that. My m2 config is midnight 16gb/512. It seems almost a no brained with the amazon deal.
Base M1 13" MBP here, not willing to roll the dice on a reduction in performance as at the limit now. 14" M2 beckons in time. For me is a secondary notebook so no need to over invest.Base M1 Air
What on earth were you doing during setup that made it even warm? Just after first boot, I downloaded from iCloud my photo library with 21,000 full-size pictures and my 3,000-song music library while also running Time Machine backups and it didn't get above room temperature. After feeling how hot it gets (feels like an intel!, at least during the setup), and the speaker issue above, gonna stick with m1 air and return.
Different horses for different courses. I'm in engineering and can pretty much light up any computer. The real magic is picking the one that presents the best value...What on earth were you doing during setup that made it even warm? So you decide to get an Air but your workflow doesn’t support that? How smart.Different horses for different courses. I'm in engineering and can pretty much light up any computer. The real magic is picking the one that presents the best value...
