I enabled this in SL way before Lion with magicprefs so i immediately felt like home.

When I use the MBP trackpad than yes, otherwise it feels and acts awkward with my logitech mouse so I just use scroll reverser

Just don't know why I would bother re-adjusting to the new method?? I have been happy with the status quo.

Not to mention then using other computers the 'old' way.

I'll change when i realise the majority of computers are using 'natural scrolling'.

And having it on by default seems harsh on the many people who just won't know how to change it.

The reason I don't like it, however natural or unnatural it is:

you usually are scrolling down on something. it's easier to do the literal down gesture for my hand and wrist, and it's the one you'll do the most... so that makes the most sense.

Maybe after a long time of doing the other way *that* would be easier, but I don't think so.. I think it comes down to the musculoskeletal system.. especially with a mouse (with a trackpad there's less difference, but still easier to scroll down the old way)

Fine - it was a choice you made yourself not someone else. I'm not saying that it shouldn't be in the OS. I do not however think it was a good thing to force it on as a default in Lion.

Perhaps on a clean install would it be OK to radically change things, not on an upgrade. Even then there should be an option on that first info page you see after an upgrade or install to turn it off, or leave it on.

Yeah I am. Took around 2 days to get used to, then it was as the name suggests, just natural. Don't even have to think about it now. Maybe it comes from having both an iPod Touch and an iPad so I was pretty used to this way of scrolling already, but it just came very easily.

Yes, I don't find it any better or more 'natural' but I'm sticking with it just for the sake of trying. It's just a matter of preference of 'I'm moving the page up' vs 'I'm moving the scroll bar down'.

It's a bit confusing jumping between my Mac and Widows machine though. I might give up on this or use some 3rd party app to put 'natural' scrolling on my Windows machine.

I wonder does anyone find it actually 'better'? or is it just not worse.. I don't see any reason it should be actually demonstrably better in any way in a non-touch environment.. maybe if you like flight simulators?

INVERT Y AXIS

no, because i have two other macs w/coreduos that arent upgradable to lion so i'd have to switch between natural and "unnatural" scrolling

Yes,it same as on iDevice so nice to get consistency here ...you better get used to it. Later the option will disappear ... > 10.7.5. (ok, that is a rumor or wild guess; but get used to it still stays)

Yes. It's delightful.

With the inverted scrolling enabled along with it, it feels just lovely. I also love swiping back and forward, as that is also inverted.

After a couple of weeks of use, I really really like the "natural scrolling". I'm now patiently waiting for bootcamp to come up with an update to enable this scrolling option on windows (I have a MacBook Pro assigned to me at work that uses windows and wish I had "natural scrolling). It gets a bit confusing switching between the two.

I started using the natural scrolling simply because I knew I was going to be working on other people's computers, and I needed to be able to handle it. Now, just a week later (I didn't get to install Lion until the 1st), I find that I really hate the old way of scrolling, and I get annoyed when I use computers that aren't on Lion or have the scrolling set back the other way. It's definitely more natural.

Agreed . . . . I think that most people who "hate natural scrolling" would actually like/love it if they just gave it a chance. Seems like most people try it for 5 minutes, hate it, and switch it back to the "old way of scrolling". I initially did this also. I decided to give "natural scrolling" another chance and after a couple of days, found it to be way better.

If that's how you explained it, no wonder he's confused!

"Dad, it's just like a piece of paper: push it up to reach the bottom."

And smart dads would say "it's not a piece of paper and my hand isn't on it, so why would push UP to get to the BOTTOM of anything? I want it to go down, so I am scrolling down, why ain't it working?"

Because THAT is natural. My fingers scroll down, I iterate down the page. My fingers scroll up, I iterate up the page. Not the reverse, unless I'm using an iPad or other tablet where I am "touching the paper" and therefore controlling its direction.

Natural scrolling doesn't feel "natural" on the trackpad.

On iOS devices such as the iPhone and iPad it makes sense, as you physically interact with the screen by flinging it up or down as you would a piece of paper.

Until we have full blown touch sensitive Mac's the Natural scrolling will not feel "natural" at all.

I do, it does feel a bit awkward, but then after awhile I get used to it, and it actually feels pretty good.

Note: it only took me a day to fully adjust, so yeah, it wasn't that bad:apple::cool:

Love it. Took about a day to fully get used to it, but now every other computer that doesn't use natural scrolling feels weird to me now.

yes and loving it,

I got really confused every time i switched laptops, at home I would use a mac, then at office a PC, opposite scrollings , configured my windows to use natural scrolling, now everthings perfect :D

How did u configure windows to do this? I'm switching between Mac and windows as well and would like "natural scrolling" on windows.
