I don't look for fairness in articles against the iphone the people that don't like it will say anything to bring it down. People either love or hate the iphone or apple products.

Everyone needs to vote for the iPhone over on the right of that page.
When they say that the Nokia is better because the shape fits in your hand better, well, that's probably un-fair but I let it pass. It's their opinion and they're welcome to hold it.
But when they say the iPhone doesn't support ringtones or applications...well that's just dumb. What's the point of writing something that's so out of sync with reality? Why not just say the iPhone weighs 5 pounds. Hey, why not?
It can prove to be a little bit of a hassle sometimes..... Although, it has come a long way. Some issues can arise, depending on what unsupported applications you install. After JB I don't think I'll ever go back, and I wonder how people go without it.... Now, back on topic:

Guys, I didn't mean all phone with numbers/letters on the end were bad, it's just getting ridiculous. When someone mentions a phone to me that ends in some 'code', I have no idea what they mean. But if it was just a name, I'd remember it better.

I very much doubt the 5800 will have to compete with the iPhone 3G for very long.. by the time it arrives (due Feb '09 in UK) and definitely the N97 which is due much later.. they will probably have the bracing task of having to compete with the next iPhone
Its kind like those Toyota commercials that say "this car is as reliable as a Toyota, or as fuel efficient as a Toyota. If all these cars aspire to be a Toyota, why not just buy a Toyota?"

Well if you check apple support discussions honest people are tired of complaning about safari bugs and missing features since iphone the first degeneration.
As my experience i can tell you that safari does a nice job rendering a web page as well on crashing.

I wasn't saying the iPhone was any better or worse, just that I am highly doubtful that the 5800 is free of "software bugs and other technical glitches", as the article claimed.
I agree with the general consensus. This article is crap. The fact that they bring up more color's and FM radio as why it's better is pure garbage. It really does give non-iPhone supports a bad name.
But, as usual, the iPhone fans won't give the new phone much credit. No matter which features may actually be superior to the iPhone.

Now, now. There are people with their image wrapped up into what they own. Admitting something may have better features is like admitting there is something wrong with themselves.
Apple and Harley Davidson have both done an excellent marketing job and people actually believe the products make them "fill in the blank here". Not knocking either product they both are good, just not the "End All" in their niche.
why do you need fm radio? commercial radio is dead you have pandora, lat fm, wunderadio, aol radio and most people have tons of music on their hard drives. As an all in one phone my iphone is better than any phone i ever had and i have owned blackberries, wm phones, a sidekick and treo 750.

To be honest there is no phone which is better for everyone. I like things about my iPhone, and I really miss some things about my old Nokia. It seems impossible to get the best of both worlds.
The price point of the 5800 is going to be one of its major selling points. Nokia themselves have said from the start that it's not designed to be an iPhone rival, that's what the N97 is. The 5800 is a mid-range handset.
Different features appeal to different people. I used to really like having an RDS radio on my old phone. I could listen to the breakfast shows on the radio on my way to work. Last.fm, etc, don't generate any human content in between the songs (prank phone calls, jokes, interviews, etc). Oh, and you can download movies for any phone, most smartphones have Torrent clients.
I guess the question comes down to whether you want a phone that's better for creating media, or one that's better at consuming it. If you want to consume it then the iPhone is right for you. If you want to create it then the iPhone can't touch the 5800.

I think the price point has totally been ignored in this debate. You can buy two sim-free 5800s for the price of one iPhone. It's hard to compare devices from two totally different price points in reasonable way.

yeah you can download a mp4 movie from mxtube.
with the nokia you can download any movie format and play it (vlc on iphone is weak).
so you can jailbrake the phone that a nokia will do a better job.
as for radio, you can't listen to ip radio when broswing the web on iphone.
Do i have to tell you that you can do it with a nokia?

I love my iphone, but if this phone came out before the 3g i would have bought it. The iphone ui, while great has a lot of issues apple refuse to fix. Adjusting settings on the phone is a chore for one, email account switching is tedious. This phone may be better than the ipone spec wise, but iphone fans will always be iphone fans.
