One of the things I've always hated about the iphone (and the 2. gen touch) is the silver trimming - and I'm glad it looks like it will be gone cause I'm expecting to buy my first iphone when the new one is available...I actually don't care for the look of the iphone at all when I think about it, but some small changes might do the trick for me

Interesting Design for the Future

You know what would be interesting for them to do in later designs would be to put the button on the back (i.e. where the black rubber-ish part is on the first generation iPhones) and then leave the entire front (they would somehow have to cover the speaker, but no worries about the ability to do that) as a screen. Of course, they'd probably have to put a bezel in order for fingers that would be holding the device to not interfere with normal functions, but it'd be a cool step forward.

What a revolutionary design change!
Apple has done it again!

I can't believe the new form factor, the new lines, the new fit and finish!

It is so different than the previous iPhone!
Apple sure isn't resting on their laurels!

And the iPhone's user interface! It was so modern in 2006 when it was developed! Who cares if it is now 2009?

I bet you begrudge architects for still using floors, walls, windows and doors.

If this is how it's gonna look, then there is NO doubt in my mind that I will get it. I mean, on my wishlist, everything I have is coming true with the exception of video chat and flash for websites, now this very slim design rendition? Please let this be true, Jebus, please!

When I saw that the bezel isn't continuous like the chrome one, I hoped that the bottom front of the phone (where the Home button is) might be aluminum - making it look like a little iMac.

With the speaker moving up, does anyone think the screen size might just be a little bit bigger, and thus the design change?

With the speaker moving up, I think it is more likely that the screen will stay the same, and the whole device might get a bit shorter.

Still not convinced this part is real. It's not like Apple to put a seam in the outside edge like that.

Oh and the stupid artist put the camera-shutter button on the wrong side.

Oh, that'd be me.

C.

I like my chrome edge! But this isn't bad either. Especially if it makes room for video calls!

Nice Photoshop work too :) I had not understood what iLounge meant about the earpiece before.

(EDIT: I'm sure there's another thread on this very question, but I've only read this one... how would the volume/mute controls fit into that bezel? It looks (in the original pic) like there's no room for them. And the round hole is odd. Some random iPhone knock-off instead?)

LOL the things we do to see how the new iPhone looks...

I'm ready for my iPhone NOW!

Boy oh boy this pre-new-iPhone release info gets crazier and crazier. Why is this news?

Tony

Why not post it? On an otherwise slow day in Apple news, I welcome anything interesting, real or not.

Then why not do away with the button too then? Apple could improve reliability and hardiness by killing the button. I've got dust around mine. How much stuff gets into the iPhone from that gap I wonder.

Also having the speaker slit that close to the edge isn't likely to be very stable from a mechanical standpoint. It weakens that whole edge, unless the new iphone is going unibody too...

There is so much wrong with what you just said...

Remove WHAT button? There's only 2 buttons on the damn thing already! how could we do with any less?!

And the iPhone ALREADY IS UNIBODY geez people! It's machined out of a single piece of plastic. (if you meant 'aluminum' then clarify)

And the device is not 'mechanical' at all, there's no moving parts. Perhaps from a 'structural' standpoint but it's a phone, why would that matter at all!

So far so Good

Personally i prefer the Chrome ring, but I'm loving the moved speaker, it should be much more comfortable and better sound because it's wider, I know from about an hour on the phone with my boyfriend, it has to be placed in the perfect spot to hear anything. And I'm not getting my hopes up, but.. a front isight cam would be AWESOME!:apple::apple::apple:
