I agree with you. Look at the second pic. See the curved out spot on the lower right? Would this not simply be the spot for the on/off rocker? Also, on the "bottom", it looks like a couple of spots for sensors. I don't know, I think this might have been misinterpreted.

After having this pointed out to me, I'm inclined to agree with this too, it seems that the interpretation is upside down...

I'm not a fan of the lack of chrome, which I feel is a defining feature in the iPhone as it currently stands, and would be really missing if removed from the iPhone, leaving it looking a little too plain.

As my birthday is in late June, combined with working over the summer, I'm currently negotiating with my Dad to get a loan from him to buy a new iPhone at release...

really?
I dont think that speaker grill could be mistook for a dock connector, the dock connector needs to be on the bottom of the phone, not the front!

1st gen iPhone user, bought on the first day here in the UK and if the new iPhone is like this picture I'm all over it!

I will be a very happy camper! :)

Crap !

Honestly, it looks terrible. I love Apple but this rendition, if true, is going more towards PC style.

I like the idea of a touch sensitive home button as I think it would be great to have everything on the front touch sensitive - with the only physical buttons being on the sides / top.

Perhaps the iPhone will be shorter or have a bigger screen - if all current apps are developed for the current ratio of 320x480, perhaps they would have a black border around them on a bigger screen? Therefore developers who have made their apps for the old screen size won't lose out and new apps can be developed for the new screen size. Just a thought...

I like this mock-up!

However I doubt that Apple will change the vertical length of the screen, without also changing the horizontal length. Too many apps have been developed at a specific size to now change things and potentially upset developers (?)

That is unless Apple is going to use the extra space for a notifier of some kind like the palm pre maybe?!?

i doubt that screen size will change, not just because of developers using the same resolution... basically the firmware is based on that resolution..
the speakers are kinda high up dont you think? when i first saw the leaked bezel i thought that was for the dock connector. it does look like one

if there is a camera located there.. do u thiink the light censor and accelerometer are shifted as well?

someone on the site mentioned that it could be just a smaller phone, I think apple even mentioned an iphone 2,2 somewhere in there beta software, wasnt it like 3 different models, one 3g one 3g extended, and 3g for china (or japan, cant remember) with no wifi???

...well anyway i have changed the pic to look like the short i phone.

Where are the red arrows? I for one was very excited that the new iPhone was going to feature three red arrows on its bezel.

I totally believe this, and I'm serious this time.

"Here is a blank check put any number on this and I will pay it." -Peter Griffin regarding pajamas with feet. I thought it appropriately described my feelings about this.

I would have thought they would have made it an all brushed aluminium casing to match the rest of their products
THey dropped the blackbook, why not a unibody iphone then

Nice job with the photoshop mock-up. The speaker in a higher position makes sense to me seen as that is pretty much where my ear usually sits when I chat on my iPhone currently.

An aluminum case would interfere with the radio frequencies of the device, hence why Apple adopted a plastic shell.

The dock connector is pretty deep dude. you're seeing the inside of it. the angle is deceiving.

No man. Look really closely at it. The grill is in no way connected to the edge of the bezel. It's on the front part. Look closely at it. If you don't see it well just have to agree to disagree

iPhone concept

I'm posting about that first picture in the thread...That speaker is moved up to make room for the indicator light (a MUST to help with push notifications) and hopefully a front-facing video camera for those videoconferences. awesome!
