- Double storage capacity
- Better water resistance
- Wide Color Gamut screen w/ better outdoor visibility
- Better battery life
- Haptic touch button (improvement IMO, due to there being no wear and tear)
- Slightly lighter
- Wide Gamut Camera is significantly better in low light w/ OIS on both models
- Stereo Speakers
- A10 chip
- Antenna lines are more "covert"

Honestly, if the phone had a complete redesign visually....this would be a huge upgrade. As someone with a 6s, I know what you mean when you use the 7. Everyday use doesn't change much with the 7, it's all of the little things that add up over time that gives you a better overall experience.

Im not sure any new phone will be worth $1K over a perfectly functional modern iPhone. They're all great.

There's very little worthwhile for the update between 6s+ and 7+
realistically outside of the camera (which is almost the same in bright light with a cooler temperature on images) and maybe some speed boosts, there's no real advantage to the 7+

Whether that changes with iOS11 (next year) is a great guess

Correct me if I'm wrong but Apple are selling the base iPhone 7 plus (32GB) for £719, last year you got the iPhone 6S Plus 64GB Model for £699.

Are Apple conning their customers into thinking they're getting double the storage when actually they are getting half the storage and paying more?

Not sure about other countries, but here in the US you get double storage capacity for the same price w/ the 7. For the 7 plus they raised prices $20 on the base model, and also doubled storage from 16GB > 32GB.

Not even the same. You need to compare this year's 32GB to last year's 16GB, as they've bumped up the storage capacities across the board.

The prices haven't changed in US Dollars, so you get 32gb this year for the price of 16 last year. The difference you see in pounds with the price going up is likely due to the devaluation of the currency after the Brexit vote.

do you guys remember at late 90 beginning of 2000 everyone use nokia, siemens, sonny erikson etc and no one ever thinking about changing phone every year? that was awesome.
and there was no fanboying

Back then contracts were 12 months at a time, I definitely did upgrade every year! I started off with a Nokia 5160, but ended up with a StarTac the next year and that was such a step backwards as there was no texting or games etc. Nokia was really on top of their game in the late 90s or so.

Why do I get the sense that the Mobile Industry has the perfect trick to make people want a new phone every year... use the carrier to subsidize you and these days, pay in installments. So eh you ain't hit with a big bill, charge it! as they say. I think people are just used to paying close to $70 bux a month for service and don't think twice about it. Is like buying a cheap printer and $40 ink cartridges at every replacement.

In the past era of flip phones it was inconceivable paying this much, hardware + service. True, these days you get to watch Netflix on the go, but still. Cable TV folks are finding this out and starting to "cut the cord" wonder when Mobile users would revolt, if ever. Judging how many people in this forum are "hooked," never.

Installments are generally cheaper than the 2 year contracts back then. Back then it was $40 a line and $0-$200+ up front for the new phone. Today it is $15 a line the cost of the phone / by 24 months and just taxes up front.

ah okay, I was not aware of the fact you could see the bank account's of the macrumors forum members here. Thanks for this info...gonna call my bank now :p:eek::eek:
Next time Apple sells a new model, they would probably check our bank statement to see if we can afford it.

so mature, glad you're taking this well
I thought that was an iPhone making noise....lol.

I personally find the jump from the 6S+ to the 7 plus to be bigger than from the 6+ to the 6S+. However if you're not happy return it.

That big jump you feel in performance is what I felt going from the 6 to the 6S, the extra RAM made a big difference. 2 to 3GB RAM, haven't noticed anything
It's just for the camera on the 7 Plus , don't notice any difference . Maybe next year this 3gb of RAM will make difference

I have 6 family members who use iPhones - For those who had the iP6, one could afford to upgrade and the other couldn't so only one upgraded. For the iP6s, two of the three upgraded. One wanted to switch to the iP7+ and the other one just likes to upgrade every year and can afford to. The reason the third did not upgrade is b/c they just got their iP6s in the spring so they weren't ready for a new phone even though they could have afforded a new phone. For the iP6s+, that person also just got their iP6s+ not too long ago so they weren't ready for a new phone.

I think that is more true of the plus models.

Completely understand the OP's feelings on this.

I came from a 6 to a 7, and although it's a nice upgrade, it probably doesn't feel as much as a jump forwards as it should do after 2 years.

I wanted a new toy to play with, so in that respect I'm happy with it, but couldn't blame anybody for sitting this one out if they have a 6/6S.

It is a big jump from the iP6 to the iP7 if you look at the internals/performance/features. It is just that the form factor is the similar. From the iP6s to the iP7 is not such a big jump.

I got a 6S Plus late in the game, this is because when I preordered my 6 Plus all I could get was a 16GB model. That limited storage space drove me insane. The 7 Plus looks fabulous, I like the water resistance feature but for now I am happy with my 6S Plus, the phone is snappier than my old 6 & having 64GB of storage feels like heaven to me.

I can upgrade later or wait for the 10th anniversary iPhone... everybody gets choices, it's beautiful

I just upgraded from a 6S to a 6S+ only because I regretted not getting a bigger phone and having bigger screen making it easier to see (I'm not in the habit of carrying my reading glasses around everywhere I go).
I bought the 6S+ because we switched carriers and I got a hell of a deal on the new device.
I'm really enjoying the new screen size so if I were to upgrade my phone from any of the previous models I would go with the 7+ especially since it comes with the most upgrades from the previous gen iPhone.
I can see why some people don't think it's worth upgrading though.

The iPhone 7 definitely should have been called iPhone 6ss or iPhone 6s Series 2 or something like that...

iPhone 6s Refined... idk but the waste of the name iPhone 7 is mind blowing. It definitely didn't deserve to be a number year. If anything it's a second S year. However Apple is going to have to get off this Tick and Tock cycle sometime so maybe they used this as the stepping point. If they go straight to the 8 with no 7s then it will be ok...

If it weren't for the Jet Black and Matte Black no one would have cared for the iPhone 7 (6ss).

Bought the 7+ a second time, really trying to like & justify the purchase over the 6S+ ... Just isn't happening. I like the JB iPhone, but aesthetics aside.. it's hardly any different from the 6S+. Plus, the screen is just better on the 6S+ to me, and I *am* missing the headphone jack more than I thought.

So, sigh, back it goes..again.. Will happily stick with the trusty 6S+ and see what they do next year for the anniversary release.

I've upgraded every year since the iPhone 3GS and have been happy with the updates from year to year. This is probably the first time I've really noticed no noticeable difference between the 6S and 7. The biggest update is the camera and it's nice, but it's still a marginal upgrade in the camera

Thinking about returning it or selling it, not sure
Well said iphone 6ss is the right word :), im glad im not the only one calling the 7 that. I only got the 7+ from my previous 6+ was because of 3D touch (really useful for me) and its power. The camera is an ok upgrade IMO, not worth upgrading because of that solely (since first phone we are paying $800+, apple iphone should be way better). But yea i like it, not worth to be called a 7.

In all honesty I have upgraded every single year since the iPhone 4. iPhone 4 to 4s ... 4s to 5(even though I did stay with the 4s after 2 weeks) then to 5c and 5s then to 6 Plus then to 6s Plus even had an SE for a few months...

Long story short on launch day I went and got an iPhone 7 (regular 7 so I'll reserve judgment on the 7 Plus). After 3 days of usage I knew I didn't want the phone. I just DIDNT have any desire to buy into the hype machine with this years iteration. So I had a co worker with a 6s Plus for sale that I scooped up for $200 unlocked and decided I would be using it for the next 12 months and not worry with the iPhone 7 or 7 Plus.

I literally noticed the only difference side by side with my iPhone SE was screen size and the color. The speed difference was very little. Games loaded a lot faster on the 7, but as far as anything else. Battery life even compared to an SE? Not much difference. The 7's camera with OIS was a pretty decent improvement, but in all honesty for the first time since 2010 ... I just didn't see the sense in an upgrade... nothing to do with money... I just couldn't warrant the upgrade.

So my hope is that I stick with this 6s Plus and Apple wows me with the next update!
