I thought this was a really good demo. Looks like a handy app (given that it actually performs in the real world as demonstrated).

It does. Still has some quirks if you have an accent or speak too fast, but for the most part it works great.

Jealous of the different skins Android has.

Jealous of the HTC HD2. I would love to use that phone.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A400 Safari/6531.22.7)

Wow, I think there's a lot more to be had over FM radio and voice control. Seriously, why take the time to tell your phone to send a text message when you could call? Why use FM radio when you have Pandora, Last.fm, and Grooveshark?

Maybe its just me, but these features are really no big deal to me. I'd rather have custom SMS/MMS tones over the above.

I was in Paris the other day and pushed the button and said "map of train stations" and hey presto up it comes. I agree using it in public a lot would make me feel like a dork but it does have its uses.

Where it really comes into its own is when you're driving. Search for a number or business and dial it all by voice (bluetooth car kit). The number doesn't have to be in your address book - It will search locally first and then search the net for a match. It works really good. Same with a text message. The only thing you have to do is press the send button

Also having the app outside of the OS and available as a market download means it will be updated regularly with new features and is not dependent on major OS releases.

Its not perfect - supports only US English at the moment and you can't speak too quickly but it works well most of the time.

Eh, it depends. In public, it would be embarrassing, dorky, and inconvenient. It's a bit faster than typing, but it's really only supposed to be done in a quiet, private area (where no one can listen in on your private life). As for the Chrome feature, I could really care less, (although it would be neat if they brought it to the iPhone).

One other thing (though not of much importance): it's not part of the actual OS, and is instead a separate app(s) only available for devices with Android 2.2.

There. Still jealous?

Re: "Chrome to Phone".

iBooks in iOS 4 syncs bookmarks etc. with your iTunes account. This could very easily be the start of a more general "Over The Air" sync capability... :D

Maybe the other person is in a place where they can't receive a call -- such as a classroom or work or in a meeting. That's like saying why send emails when you can just call? Why facebook when you can just call? Texting and communication of that input variety is the growing way, and it isn't going away anytime soon. Because not ALL of the local station in some places are on those programs. Plus not ALL people have unlimited data plans. For someone like me, I listen to the local stations all day long. I easily use 800mb a month just on that.

It's funny how people that don't have the features on their phone, discredit them and say "oh they're not that important."

laughable.

I use the voice control when I'm at home a lot to call people instead of searching through my contacts. However I tried it in public once and it didn't feel right. I'm sure it will come in time, but voice control's on any device only really work well for people who have a clear voice. So here in the UK a lot of people will find it hard to work because of all the different strong accents we have. (Only the Queen speaks that posh accent you Americans hear)

A good feature that will coem in time, but you know what Apple are like, they like to refine everything before it is introduced.

How so? I for one text while driving  and using a voice feature would be real nice. (no worries, usually hand the iphone to the wife to type)

Composing quick email replies or texts on the fly would be awesome. It's like Quick Reply on JB iPhone but on steroids when it comes to texts!

I see endless possibilities when it comes to voice commands... If had had any money  I'd bet Apple usese Siri to full potential in iOS 5-6...I hope

it's called Dragon Dictation, available in the appstore. you speak, and then push about 2 buttons to send a text. much better than typing a few sentences while driving

Dragon Dictation has been free for iOS and out before the android port of Siri.

Should investigate before trolling.

Lol. Dragon Dictation is a sorry app. Maybe if I could say text person x and send email to person x it would be good. But having to manually find someone takes just as much time. It only helps with very long messages. And none of this is built into iOS. If this was built into iOS this would be game changing.

Please make useful suggestions before calling someone a troll.
