Yeah should be fine, it is a full 14 day inclusive window, so the 2nd would be your last day for returning it.

Thanks. Feel silly asking, but I’d rather ask, look silly but have the correct info, instead of turning up on the 2nd and be turned away.

There are no silly questions. Did you order online? Because you can arrange to return by post. Can’t remember if you can do that if you bought in store, but Apple are pretty accommodating if you went on live chat and had a valid reason for not being able to make it to the store they might be fine with it.

Bought in store. Friday 2nd is fine, and there’s other things I need to do that day in the vicinity so I’m happy to take it in.

Thanks.

Im sending mine back - I have ceiling speakers all around the house and a home automation system, so I'm probably not the typical target.

I tried convincing the wife on ceiling speakers so I could have surround sound back in the lounge, but she wasn’t having it. Despite my protests of, just who paid for this damn hous...... Oh so I can buy that 4K OLED after all can I. She knows how to shut me up :D

Utterly stupid question regarding the 14 day return window, please don’t shoot me!

I bought mine on Friday 16th Feb. Can I return it on Friday 2nd March? I said it was a stupid question, ha! Just to want to be crystal clear that it’s okay returning it exactly 2 weeks to the day, that Friday 2nd March is “within” the window. It’s the most convenient day for me to physically return it to an Apple store.

I’m glad lots of people like their HomePods, part of me wants to keep it but there’s a few issues that I have for my usage that mars the experience.

It should say the return by date on the receipt. Since February only has 28 days, just go from there.

Not a bad deal.

I have a Yamaha soundbar with pseudo surround and it works reasonably well, for a clean living area. The sub is wireless so can be hidden away. I have Sonos to it via coaxial also.

Yamaha do make some good sound bars. I think iirc, Yamaha was the first sound bar I’d ever heard of, years ago before they gained their current popularity.

How does it pair up with the different sound signature of the Sonos? Are they a good match?

Im happy with it - Ive ran the Eq and its ok. It could be better, I always wonder what a Sonos Playbar would be like as a comparison though - a lot more expensive though with sub - the Yamaha was only 500 pounds of so, the Sonos would be three times that.

The more of you that return the HomePod the better, as far as I'm concerned. They will eventually show up in Apple's refurb store and I'll snatch up additional HomePods at a nice discount!

Aye, I've looked at going all Sonos in the past myself, almost did at one point. But by the time you get to, ok, four speakers, a play bar, a sub.. The cost is just silly and, for me anyway, I just think I can put together a better traditional system for the money.

Then you hit the WAF and the ban on "ugly" speakers everywhere, so in the end I just give up (compromise.... pffff.)

I'm happy enough with the HomePod for my music in the lounge, the wife's happy enough with it fitting in and somewhere down the line I'll convince her we need a better sound bar.
That shouldn't be too hard, she's always complaining she cant hear speaking over the other sounds/music in films. So a plan is hatching ;)

That's one of the best things about modern sound bars, including the Sonos. They all tend to have great modes to help boost the speech clarity/volume above other sounds. It can make a huge difference.

I found that high frequency hearing loss is an issue as I get older actually, always causes problems with speech intelligibility. Of course some movies are mixed badly too.

Im actually thinking my Yamaha isn't the best with speech.

I just tested it there now against the HomePod and I'd actually say the HomePod was far nicer to listen to for music. I think the ceiling speakers were a bit better due to stereo separation. And they are a good speaker set from Monitor Audio.

I wonder would a Sonos soundbar perform better.

I never really thought about high frequency hearing loss, I’m actually surprised my hearing is as good as it is after years of loud music with the bands. But I’m only in my 40’s so there’s time for me to go a bit deaf yet I suppose. The wife’s 10 years younger than me though so she’s no excuse, other than just fussy :D

I'm a little confused - You mentioned the Yamaha might not be great for speech but then went right into talking about the HomePod for music?

Anyhow - Definitely try out a new-ish soundbar that has speech enhancement modes. They work really really well.

For TV usage in particular, it's really hard to beat a good soundbar and HomePods are simply the wrong tool for the job.

It would be cool to see Apple release a HomeBar to compete in this space though, no question!

Yeah you can ask Siri if you have any WhatsApp messages which is good

Enjoy hope you like it.
Thanks. Have my HomePod now but can’t set it up until after I moved as the whole place is getting packed up. Roll on Wednesday when I can actually use it!

I have 45 days for return via Best Rewards membership. I think I will keep it even so. There is potential, have to be patient.

I've never returned anything to Apple.....Is the return process simple & easy (i.e. Costco).

I'm really curious about the HomePod, but I guess the only way I'm going to know is to try it out personally. Considering purchasing it & like many people have done, see how it works out within that 2 week window.

No questions asked really upon return, just keep it in very good condition.

So go get it tomorrow.

You're decision, but I didn't buy my HomePod for investment purposes, hence I don't don't care about ROI.

I'm happy with what it does do, but then its short comings were well documented by the time I took the plunge.

I’m not using it as as investment and I was ready to buy two. However, given the limitations and lack of features at launch this thing is not worth the money. I’ll say it again SIRI sucks and is an embarrassment on this device. I wanted a device to tie my HomeKit home together and HomePod as it currently stands is not that device. If I want good sounding music I’ll turn on my Def Tech speakers and subs the $350 are not what bothers me it’s the functionality or lacktherof that lead to the decision to return it.

Honestly, after 20+ years in technology and more of Apple use I’m am seriously considering moving away completely.

After reading the above I really question what your motive was to purchase the HomePod to begin with was?
First and foremost it's a high fidelity wireless speaker......you obviously don't need or want that so it's no wonder your not satisfied.
It's like purchasing a high performance sports car and using it to drive around the city in 30MPH zones, then complaining because it only gets 20 MPG.

Sound is amazing, Siri works great and does everything I ask of it, streaming from iCloud music is flawless, and it controls my iHome outlets just fine.
Just picked up my second HP this morning.......1 sounds great, 2 is incredible.

The HomePod obviously was never for you to begin with......hope you find what works for you.

I cannot relate to your experience with the HomePod!

I have it and I love it. The sound is unbelievable and I still don't understand how there is constant bass being resonated everywhere in my room in every song I play from it. Apple really over-engineered this thing and it's working with flying colours.

Siri sucks you say? That's a bit harsh IMHO. Siri on this thing works like a charm for its intended purpose: As a companion to music with the added bonus of it being a personal assistant of sorts. Let me list down what I like about Siri on the HomePod:
- Siri responds quickly even when the music is blasting in the background. I don't even have to shout, even across the other end of my room. Heck, I even talk softly at night to it (from across the room) and it responds...amazing!!!
- Siri is a great DJ...it always plays what I want and even suggests songs that I end up liking.
- Siri promptly and correctly controls my HomeKit devices...it has never failed on me just yet while my Google Home can't even hear me most of the time.
- To me, Siri is nearing human-like expression when she responds. She responds differently and with emotion that other voice-assistants fail to do.
