Not doubting Ponting's abilities but I would put more of reason that the score is such due to the English batsman being a bit useless.

More recently out of the top four only Strauss has been any good so getting him out early and cheaply such a big advantage.

I would put more of reason that the score is such due to the English batsman being a bit useless.

The wickets seems to be mainly edges to the slips, good bowling attack but I agree it is more weak batting that caused this slump.
