not really a fan of Kutcher or his work either but he does look a lot like 70s steve and off the top of my head can't think of anyone better

I vote for Noah Wyle, afterall Steve himself gave the guy a thumbs up at the 1999 Macworld keynote when he said 'he's a better Steve then I am.'

Good call, never thought of Jack Black, but that would be excellent!

I could see Jack coming up with an idea to build a box that would imitate the different tones of various coins in a phone booth to get free phone calls. :)

I see Fisher Stevens...:p

Ben Jahrvi

at least I now know who the character was supposed to look like now

Can't look past his persona

It's rather fascinating that Ashton Kutcher is famous at all. He's a completely talentless idiot.

The biggest problem is he doesn't have the acting chops to make people believe
he's Steve Jobs and not just Ashton Kutcher pretending to be Steve Jobs. Maybe He'll surprise everyone, but I highly doubt it.

Wirelessly posted

As long as this is a silent film he's acceptable. As soon as he needs to sound intelligent the roll will become much too difficult. "dude, where's my car?" is more Ashton's acting range.

Has both the looks AND genius!! Seriously- he's a genius. A-ricky-dicky-doo!

please not jack black that guy is a poser

A poser? lol. I haven't heard that term in a loooooong time.

And btw- he's not a poser. He's awesome.

You took the words right out of my mouth!

What's with all the hating on this guy? Sure he's a comedy guy, but everybody has to start somewhere. It seems he's taking the role very seriously, and I think we might all be in for a pleasant surprise.

It won't be pleasant.

I find Ashton's acting very 1-dimensional. I don't see much difference between his 70's show character and the one in 2.5 Men.
No question about it though, he looks like a young Steve.

That didn't stop Keanu Reeves from making hit movies. "Whoa!" ;)

Didn't you see that outtake from the Matrix where Tank says, "Way to go Ted!" ? :D

Really, I never realized how much Ashton looks like Steve Jobs when he was younger. Geeze, that's kind of scary even. Steve could have had a career in TV/Movies in the '80s of all times...maybe landed a part on the A-Team playing Face! ;)

In addition to this movie, I want to see the movie of "Pirates of Silicon Valley 2 The Wrath of Jobs". That movie needs a sequel to tell the entire story.

I saw 'Pirates of Silicon Valley' the first time, last night. It showed me a lot of things I didn't know. We definitely need 'Pirates of Silicon Valley 2' to show how Apple resurrected and how things changed when Google came in. Moreover, the rise of Intel, etc.

No pandering to me is gonna be good enough, I tell ya...that guy is a complete tool.
I agree, that's why I mentioned pandering, he's aware of the high level of hero worship within the Apple camp. He's going to need all the help he can get.

I'll let others view this film, I got more than enough of Steve, while he was alive.

Sooo it's going to be just like 'Pirates of Silicon Valley' but with a bigger budget and an extended ending?

And anyway, with today's technology and make up skills, I think they can really make sure they look alike even more. That won't be too tough.

Yes, and they'll even be able to put the "near death" image on Ashton to play the last stages.

(Hint - watch Avatar....)

Cut Ashton.
In fact give the script to Pixar.
They could make a worthy tribute.

"Ashton Kutcher Believes Steve Jobs Role Meant for Him"

...yeah, and i thought i was the next michael jordan.

ashton kutcher is a clown who neither resembles jobs physically or in spirit or deameanor. leave it to hollywood to cast a shallow bozo like kutcher to play someone with the depth of jobs.

Had to register to the forums just to participate to this thread

The looks are not everything, so while I feel that Kutcher looks like the part, acting skill wise he would not be a solid option. He lacks depth and emotion. I feel that he would make the movie too 'goofy'. My pick would be John Cusack!

That being said - Jack Black would be perfect Woz! :apple:

Yeah, and Steve Jobs was just as "humble." All I can think of was how people underestimated Heath Ledger for the role as The Joker. Turned out quite a surprise. I think Ashton "might" pull it off too but nothing to bet the entire mortgage on.
Comparing Heath Ledger to Ashton Kutcher is like comparing Radiohead to Nickelback. Heath Ledger was a rising star with talent and range. Ashton Kutcher is a mediocre actor with some comedic talent at best, and an abomination to the craft of acting, television, film, and mass media at worst.

From the producer, the director, the writer, and Ashton himself, this particular Jobs film looks like it will have it's bases covered in mediocrity.
